The owner is super sweet (many locals also praised her) and was ready for our arrival. She offered to assist us with luggage up the stairs. We didn't know we were getting the penthouse room up 3 flights of stairs, but we absolutely loved the room, (with an ante room, where we kept our luggage) because of the awesome view over the park and the harbour. Perfect location! The room was very comfortable, including the bathroom and the bed. Breakfast was included with the price of the room, which was already very reasonable. The breakfast was a fully cooked meal and it was delicious. The waitress was very kind and attentive. Scottish hospitality seems to be #1 here and we found ourselves wishing we had more time to stay, both at Neptune's Rest and in Stranraer.

I thought I had booked the family room. Until the owner phoned me, said I'd booked the double room. She was fantastic and moved us to the family room. Plenty of space between the beds. Great views from the window,tea and coffee facilities. The breakfast was fresh and hot. The owner even stored some meat for me in her fridge. Nothing was too much trouble . Very friendly owner and staff would definitely stay again. 10 mins drive to the stenna ferry I deal place to stop when travelling.

The only thing was being woken up at 2-30 by guests who were leaving or on their phones were very loud talking outside our door.

The owners were so friendly and welcoming. We arrived later than the normal check-in time because we had a terrible time getting there from the ferry port as no cabs or Ubers were available. She checked us in quickly so we could get something to eat before everything closed down. She ordered us a cab for the next morning as well because we had an early departure to our next destination. The next morning, the cab company notified them they had no drivers , so the husband drove us to the bus station in his personal vehicle and would not accept payment. Our rooms were pristine and very accommodating for our needs. It was extremely quiet as well, which made for a good night's sleep. I would definitely recommend this place..

Breakfast was unreal - really really nice. The hosts were fantastic, could not ask for a friendlier welcome. The rooms were clean and the location in central Stranraer is exceptional.

The WiFi went down for about 24 hours at one point, and the TV in my room was very easy to smack my head on as it was right above the bathroom door. There were some very minor noise disruptions at times, though this I didn't mind. Though I'm really nitpicking my stay was fantastic.

Unfortunately, I arrived very late in the evening (11:30!) due to the closure of the main road into Stranraer because of an accident. I'd phoned the hotel several times prior to my arrival and on each occasion the host was friendly and accommodating, eventually suggesting leaving the key to my room in a designated place for me to pick up on arrival. The weather was appalling and even the short walk from my car left me drenched and this coupled with the fact that I hadn't eaten meant that I really just wanted to sort myself out and get to bed so I couldn't really judge the facilities on offer. That said, everything I needed was to hand and I managed a comfortable night's sleep. The following morning I enjoyed a lovely cooked breakfast (chosen from a menu) in the property adjacent to the hotel and must again thank the hostess' mother for leading me to the breakfast area and the hostess herself for removing the beans from my plate which I'd ordered accidentally and she also replaced my egg ... jolly decent given that it was my fault in the first place! Car parking is available in the form of a huge, free overnight car park as stipulated by the hotel.

As stated above I didn't really spend much time in the room due to various circumstances but I noted that the floorboards creaked quite a lot which caused me a bit of concern when moving around given how late it was and that the other guests appeared to have gone to bed. I thought the facilities were adequate rather than luxurious but that was to be expected given the competitive cost of the stay, which also included breakfast, and were perfectly acceptable for my one night visit.

Breakfasts were great, lovely choices from a full Scottish breakfast to the lovely omelettes with a choice of filligs Location was great with being on the seafront, and on the doorstep with a very walk walk into the town to the shops, and coffe shops.

Only negative comment I have to make is there was a shortage of hanging space for clothes, but I made do with what I had. And this certainly did not take away the fact that our hostess and her family were absolutely welcoming and helpful with any request.

Plenty and varied menu and no trouble for it to be altered, always hot and I scoffed the lot! Lovely family, always helpful and cheery. I'd recommend the venue.

My disable friend realised we should'n't have booked his en suite room as it was on the first floor , as we were told it was when we booked it so the steps were too much for him. I was on the top, right under the roof, with a great view of the water and I had my own shower and toilet just 3 steps away. I like the two wee wooden square blocks hanging on the wall in lieu of a wardrobe (there was no room to fit one in). Lovely bed. and a reading lamp at the right height.

Very friendly and helpful hostess. Superb location, close to town centre and room overlooked the park and Loch Ryan. Ample on street parking outside property or nearby free car park. Excellent well cooked breakfast, exactly as ordered. Good place for overnight stop if on way to ferries at Cairnryan (only a few miles away). Provision of gown to cross landing to (private) bathroom was a very nice touch. Ample places to eat in town. Excellent value.

The single room was small and no room for wardrobe, Large hooks on wall and coat hangers provided to hang clothes. Room too small for ensuite bathroom, hence trip across landing (reflected in price)

My ensuite room at the top of the house was super clean with a view over the bay. I liked the decor and the colour scheme. Handy location. Free on street parking. GF toast available for breakfast. Very friendly staff.

The room and ensuite would benefit from a little TLC, just small things like the wobbly door handle, clock with no battery, grouting at the base of the shower tray. The breakfast menu was good but I'm vegetarian and I can't eat wheat. There was GF toast available but a few more options like fruit, yogurt and porridge would nice.

Pleasant, helpful owners and a plentiful and varied breakfast. Strange little room making use of a bit in the eaves but thoughtful planning, and the addition of a folding chair and a folding small table made it very functional. Generally a great little place to stay.

Private though separate bathroom was a little awkward as the bedroom lock had an issue so I had to make sure I took the key with me when I used the bathroom. As a woman of a certain age I inevitably woke up in the middle of the night, and I was really cold. Luckily there was a store outside the room with a heavy old eiderdown. And then I slept really well for the rest of the night.
