Stayed 3 nights: 29 Aug ‘25 - 1 Sep ‘25 No breakfast at this hotel, however as we knew this in advance, it definitely wasn’t an issue, especially as there’s a great shop right opposite called ‘Thyme To Go’ which sells hot rolls etc. There’s a kettle in the room with tea bags, coffee sachets (including decaf) and the little milk pots. Our room was great, good size and the bathroom was huge! Clean room, really comfy bed, tv on the wall, vanity unit with mirror near electrical socket for hairdryer, plus it’s in a great location, practically in Dalbeattie centre. It was perfect for our needs, we would stay in this hotel again. Only one minus… and we knew about this in advance, so it was no surprise and didn’t spoil our experience as we knew what to expect… from our room you could heard music/people shouting over the music from the bar (or maybe the function room) downstairs. It was noisy, but everything shut down about 11.30pm. We don’t go to bed early so wasn’t an issue… no loud music Sunday night. As previously said, we would use this hotel again.

The loud music from bar/function room. No-one is going to say they ‘like’ that… however if you know in advance, it’s not an issue, it certainly wasn’t for us.

Super comfortable beds, lovely big rooms, the staff were wonderful and really went out of their way for us The hotel is perfectly situated for buses and takeaways, while being nice and close to the park too, which is perfect Absolutely will come back, this is the nicest hotel we've stayed at in a while and we loved it!

Honestly nothing, it was perfect

The room was massive,spotless and the bed very comfortable. Great Central location,within walking distance to shops and places to eat.

Only negative I have is the size of the television in the room probably the same size as a small lap top screen but that aside would recommend this accommodation to anyone looking to stay in the area.

Staff were super friendly, room was huge, clean and tidy with all the required items. Bed was comfy, shower was good. Really great place and 1000% value for money

Yes there was a little bit of down stairs noise from the bar but i wasn't going to be there and by the time I got back from the function I was attending the bar was closed and all quiet

The room was very clean, and the bed was super comfortable. I had a great nights sleep and will definitely be back again!

The only thing I didn't like was the kettle it was so old, and it gave me an electric shock when I turned it on.

The Maxwell Arms was the perfect hotel for me on this occasion. It was a last minute decision to travel to Scotland to celebrate my mothers birthday. Seamless booking with a very welcoming reception on arrival. The room was more than adequate in size for a single room, clean, comfortable with tea and coffee facilities and top off with a hot, powerful shower in a very respectful bathroom. In addition, there's a bar next door to the accomodation with friendly staff frequented by welcoming locals enjoying the chat of the day. Value for money, the Maxwell Arms is off the scale. Fantastic!

Their is nothing about this venue that I didn't like or would even contemplait complaining about. It does exactly what it promotes and more!

The only negatives were no secure place for bikes and it would be even better if a cooked breakfast was available.

We didn't have breakfast, but a great sandwich shop just across the road, with great breakfast butties
