There was a warm welcome when we arrived and advised of our room. We were on the 2nd floor and, unfortunately due to the age and design of the building, there is no possibility of installing a lift so we climbed the steep stairs to what was a large, spotless and comfortable room overlooking the rear garden. Tea/coffee facilities, TV, hair dry and large wardrobe were all available. Toilet had large shower - again spotless. There was a bar/restaurant on the ground floor and we had a delicious meal on Friday. We were advised of an event taking place in the bar on Saturday afternoon to commemorate a local disaster 40 years ago but that we were welcome in should we wish. The breakfast was superb and filling - with more of whatever we wished available on request. The lady on duty was so welcoming and friendly with nothing seeming to be an issue for her. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Kirkcudbright.

Perfect location! Right at the heart of Kirkcudbright and an easy walk to the river and to the rest of the town. The room was very spacious for a single. It was decorated to a high quality and immaculately clean. Breakfast, from the Full Scottish to the porridge was very generous and delicious. All of the staff I met were friendly and welcoming. The skies in that part of the world are amazing. My room was at the front and I had stunning evening sky views towards the sunset.

The location was great - near the main street and harbour yet very quiet. My room had a view onto the street that leads to the harbour and at the back a view onto the garden. The shower room was spacious and seemed brand-new, the best I've ever experienced in a hotel. The staff were lovely - relaxed, friendly and helpful and the breakfast was very good. I liked that you use local free-range eggs! Oh, and the pizza that I had in the garden was the real thing 🙂

Great location, in a lovely central street. Room spacious, heating worked well, so cold weather not an issue. The big light in our room stopped working, but they offered us another room. Breakfast was excellent, bar and restaurant also really good. Staff were friendly. Basically, this is a pub with rooms, but it's very comfortable. Other reviews have complained about noise from the bar when they have live music, but we just shut the fire door and it was fine.

Breakfast choice was a bit limited, but then it is low season. Still tasted fab. Would have been nice to have the bed made every day (and the shortbread topped up! ) but that's being picky. Shower door was a bit sticky to open

Great breakfast, great food and service at breakfast time. Very convenient location for centre of town.

The evening dinner service wasn't great. We ordered and they came back to advise about half an hour later that what we'd ordered wasn't available. I then ended up ordering a burger but it wasn't very nice, far too much relish and didn't come with the lettuce and tomato and onion rings mentioned on the menu.

Lovely place in the heart of a lovely town. Simple but comfortable room, easy to check in and check out, nice bar (it's a pub after all) with a good garden. Good breakfast. Great value.

The bathroom in my room had only net curtains, no blinds. I didn't mind, but the people across the street may have seen more than they wanted to. Breakfast was served slowly and slightly grudgingly, but was delicious when it arrived.

Very good room. Staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast and evening meal. Great location for a short break. Caerlaverock Castle and Threave gardens are musts.

Could have been a little better organised when we artived. 'Free' parking is on the street, but easy to find spaces near the Hotel. Initially found it difficult to get right temperature in the shower.

The staff were friendly and very helpful throughout my stay. The village and hotel are easy enough to get to with a bit of planning. The hotel is very central in the village. The village itself is very handy for getting to some wildlife hides nearby.

The shower was slightly underwhelming after long days in the hides. Temperature was fine but the space available was limited.

Location was central. Staff were very friendly. Facilities were good. Food was very good. The bar was well stocked and had a cosy feel about it.

Our room was on the top floor and because of the unusually warm weather for the time of year was warm which made sleeping uncomfortable. This is in no way a criticism of the hotel, it was as said unusual weather for September.

Friendly staff, very clean refurbished bedrooms, great location for family funeral celebration. Wonderful warm welcome , great hospitality and cheery breakfast service with hearty full breakfasts. Great shame we couldn't stay longer...Thank you.
