Patricia has gone out of her way to post something I left behind, at no cost to myself. Lovely cooked breakfast.

The property is old and listed, and therefore has lots of history, but costs for refurbishment would be alot, hence bathroom was dated, but did not stop us enjoying our stay. The price was extremely reasonable, and if you do not require 5* and are more content with good hosts and lovely food then this is perfect.

The imperial Hotel is such good value for money and the location is right on the main street in Castle Douglad . The hotel is a little dated but the staff are so freindly and helpful,. The hotel I's pet freindly and they treated our dog like one of their own , she even got a breakfast of bacon and sausage In the morning !! Human Breakfast was really good too and both vegan and vegetarian are catered for . The bed was super comfy and there was plenty of hot water . . We really enjoyed our stay and will be back . Thankyou

Nothing , we loved our stay

Staff were wonderful, very helpful and welcoming. Very kind to small boy and dog. The dog got his own sausage at breakfast and was absolutely delighted. Breakfast was lovely, very tasty and staff brilliant asking about allergies etc, we don't have any but it is great to see them being so conscientious

Mostly the room was clean, past its best but not unexpected given the price bracket. The skirting boards were very dusty but that is the only complaint regarding cleanliness, everywhere else was very clean

The staff were very friendly and very helpful. I was disappointed that evening meals were not served at the weekend. However the staff allowed us to use their bar tables and provided us with all cutlery and crockery in order for us to eat carry out meals from local take always. They also advised us of the best places to purchase our takeaways. The breakfasts were absolutely perfect. We were served straight away and mmmmmm.

There was no lift and room access could only be achieved via a spiral type staircase. However the staff took all our luggage to our room for us. I don't think the premises would be suitable for wheelchairs or severely disabled people.

Very central. Well managed. Great breakfasts. Very friendly and helpful staff. Plenty of hot water with a bath in our room. Ideal for a late summer break. Lots of good cycling in the area. Close to Kirkcudbright for the Fringe on this weekend and also the Doors Open days in Dumfriesshire.

Traffic on the main street outside the window was quite noisy (but we wanted the window open, so it could have been quieter). Didn't keep me awake though.

Staff are all very welcoming and friendly. Rooms were perfectly clean and comfortable. Scottish breakfast was very good too. Although no restaurant, we were offered plates and cutlery etc should we want to bring food back to eat in the bar.

The hotel is a traditional, old building that could do with some updating. That said, it was my second visit and probably won't be my last.

The hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. An excellent stay for a value for money base to explore the beautiful area, or just for one night. It’s not really a hotel; more a licensed B&B. Suited me, as I like to explore and there are at least 4 excellent restaurants within walking distance. Breakfast was excellent, good quality ingredients cooked well and pleasantly served. All you need.

The windows in the room would neither open or close; not a problem for me but could be a problem later in the year. People suggest the hotel needs updating. Maybe, but increased prices would be inevitable and Castle Douglas does not need such a hotel. Perhaps at the least, the photos of golfers could be updated! Beware of the pub next door at the weekends, can get rowdy but note it has not been part of this hotel for decades.

Lovely people, couldn’t do enough for you. Room although dated was large, clean and had everything that was needed. Breakfast was excellent, even our dog was given a sausage! There was a car park at the rear and free Wi-Fi.

No food served apart from breakfast but they booked us in at another hotel for evening meal one night plus we went to the Olive Retreat, both were excellent.

We had excellent breakfassts with prompt efficient service. The hotel does no do either lunch time or evening meals. However it is on the maind shopping street of the town and ther are plenty of eating establishments. We were in and liked the "Olive Retreat" an italian restaurant, and the "Jewel in the Crown" and Indian restaurant.

The stairs were rather difficult as they were steep and on the turn.

My room was exceptionally clean and the bed very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. It's in a great location for the town. What great value for money and the breakfast was hot, delicious and set me up for the day. I would definitely stay again.

The bathroom is a little dated but very clean. I was informed they are about to be updated which would be a real benefit to this quaint, old hotel.
