The location is so central, a great hub to explore Cornwall from. Historic and stylish building and decors. Friendly staff, particularly at the reception. Overall, good value for money too.

Inconsistent breakfast quality. One morning we got a great quality hot breakfast, with fast service. The next day, we ordered the same food. Neither the quality nor the speed was the same. Maybe understaffed? The other is incident management - at 2am we had a (false) fire alarm, getting every guest out of bed. No apologies next morning - if fact, I would have expected a free drink or something as a gesture for the spoiled night.

Perfect quirky base for a break in Cornwall. All staff very attentive, across the team. This was our second visit. The first was during covid restrictions when the hotel were having to cope with the restrictions of the time. This time we saw things in more relaxed, but busy times. The Inn is very pet friendly, so bear that in mind if that's not your thing. We could not believe how well behaved the dogs were.

Portion sizes were a bit too large for one of us. I spoke to the restaurant manager on duty on our final evening, and she advised that the chef is more than willing to adapt the set menu where possible. I should have been more vocal earlier on.

Easily located off the main road, we also stay on way to st ives. They have a smugglers museum, a gift shop with pirate and ghost stories. They have a little farm shop and a lovely little wooden boat play park for the little ones. The rooms are always so Lovely and clean and the staff are always so friendly.

I enjoyed being close to the main road as it's convenient to then continue my journey the next day however some people may not like being near the main road, not near any amenities. The closest shop is the next service station.

The Jamaica Inn is one of our favourite places to stay in the UK. Always a very warm welcome from the staff who can’t do enough to make your stay both comfortable and memorable. The property is quite old and it’s filled with charm and history. The rooms are spotless and extremely well maintained and decorated to a high standard. The bar and restaurant areas are bristling with authentic character. Such a gorgeous building and courtyard set in dramatic Cornish countryside.

After numerous visits, we have no complaints whatsoever.

Good location. Moved our room after a noisy family moved into the room connected to ours (connecting door) on the second day. Only available room wasn't as nice but at least it was quiet.Friendly helpful staff. Went round the museum which was free for residents. Watched some nice sunsets over the moors from the gardens

Rooms seemed hot, we think it was the heated towel rails.On our last morning (Saturday) a load of bikers came in and the residents were basically ignored at breakfast while they were served. We had to go and find someone to order our breakfast then waited over half an hour until we had to go and find out where the breakfast was! Some people walked out as they couldn't stay any longer to wait. No communication but we could see what the problem was. It's a shame because it does put you off returning. There was no problem on the Thursday and Friday mornings. We also had to wait quite a long time for the evening meal on Friday, but at least a member of staff came over to say 'haven't you had your meal yet, I'll chase it up.'.

The room was very comfortable, tidy, and attractive. Location is excellent to discover Bodmin Moor. The staff, mostly ladies, were always very helpful and did their best to answer (sometimes, somewhat trivial) questions without any sense of haste. Breakfast - mainly, the self-service buffet, was well stocked and excellent.

The loss of the exotic and miscellaneous trivia museum that Jamaica Inn had about two decades ago. Although the current museum is excellent, and well curated, loss of the previous idiosyncratic collection (I gather to a collector in the USA) is somewhat saddening.

We unexpectedly got placed in the Daphne Du Maurier Suite, which was incredible. More an experience than a hotel room. Quite amazing, and a bed the size of...well - big. Staff very efficient and pleasant, particularly reception. We got allowed into the museum on site for a quick look around and bar service was pleasant. Masses of interesting history connected to this establishment.

Felt ever so slightly let down in the restaurant in the evening. Somewhat casual service and three or four different staff involved in seating us, taking order, bringing food and checking for dessert requirement. Food was OK.

We loved the inn, it had so much character and history. We especially loved that we were able to visit the museum for free with our booking. We had a delicious dinner (unfortunately it was my husband's birthday the following day so he didn't get a free meal- bum!!) and the best cappuccino brulee. The room was warm but had a fan to keep cool. The facilities were clean and we felt welcome.

Only that when I said we were there to celebrate my husband's birthday which was the day after the staff said "oh he could have had a free meal" I was quite happy not knowing that as it then put a slight dampner on solely paying for it because we were celebrating the night before.

The story and history of the place and how they celebrate it, is great- they’ve leaned into the aesthetics and history. Our room was incredible and big and so worth the money (we stayed in the Daphne du Maurier suite) and as a big fan, I was thrilled with how much information was all around the room. I could have stayed there looking at everything for hours! The museum was fantastic as well, really informative. Breakfast and dinner were all good too. Slept incredibly well as it was so quiet and peaceful and dark.

In the main restaurant, the dinner portions was a bit big.. eg we paid £10 for bread and got SO much. There just wasn’t too much light options so felt wasting food but otherwise it was perfect.

We have been to Jamaica Inn a few times now and we love it never want to come back home we love Cornwall we took our dog for the first time and they made her feel welcome too

Paying upfront first when we first went to Jamaica Inn we paid when we got there which meant when we went on booking.com and it was cheap but now I don't look that often unless I have the money there and then I know if we had to cancel we get our money back but we just don't look there much now which is a shame as we love this hotel I know the reason why hotels are now choosing this way for people to book holidays but it has stopped us from booking at these hotels and looking at others that allows us to pay on arrival
