I strongly disagree with all the negative feedbacks 4 this family runned hotel, there's is a bed, hot and cold water,shower in a private ensuite bathroom&toilet,towels,tv,3 choices of breakfast what else do you want???the booking site describe properly what you gonna get for the money you pay...I'm a londoner and 4 what i paid what i got i cosider it a good deal renting a room in here,if you want luxury book at the Hilton or Ritz,here you pay for the basics you get the basics simple!!!!Ramona is also very kind and friendly i felt welcomed and like i was at home....

After my last stay, six years ago, I was very happy yet again at Charlie's! Everything stayed as good and was made comfortable and safe, even though the rooms are small and basic, they offer the necessary basics like a comfy bed, a shower which does work, a loo which flushes, a radiator which works, an extra blanket, a small table + the kettle with a cup and saucer, which was promptly provided by request! There are no extras like hairdryer, etc but it doesn't hurt to bring your own travelling one! I loved the delicious breakfast which keeps you going all day with two fried eggs & very tasty sliced fried mushrooms! Also a vast selection of stuff to spread on your toasts, like Nutella😋

Well, the place does obviously needs some refurbishing, deco improvements, etc, but as I said, it was all good again for my two nights stay in London, same as before...

I booked this hotel for an overnight stay for 3 adults & 1 child whilst we were attending a milestone birthday party on the same street. That's why I chose it, I didn't check the reviews & when these were pointed out to me I was pretty dismayed. The booking was however non refundable & so we decided to give it a go. I'm 71 & there aren't many countries I've not been in for one reason or another. I've stayed in lovely cheap hotels, downright poor expensive ones & even some where you felt far from safe as you turned the light out. People have given Charlie Hotel some pretty awful reviews but I can say in all honesty this was not my experience at all. Ok so it's a little tired looking but nothing like some I've been in. The staff I met were welcoming, friendly & accommodating from the get go. We booked two rooms. The rooms were clean if small. By clean I mean, clean walls, carpet (Inc corners & under beds) & all surfaces. We had freshly laundered pure crisp white bed linen & towels. Dirty hotels don't use white bed linen as fleas, bugs etc are drawn to white & accordingly visible. Doors lock with old fashioned mortice. No, that's NOT high security but I've seen him tec card swipe locks opened with a credit card when you know how. On that subject only someone very naive leaves valuables in any hotel room. You take them with you. You might risk it if the room has one of those small safes - unless like me you once left $1500 in a room safe in Florida only to come back to find not only the money gone but the safe door with it - true. So no, I never leave anything but clothes in a room. If you do have to leave a laptop etc. hide it well - hotel thieves don't linger in rooms. Charlie Hotel is a B&B with a budget price & feel. London prices are incomprehensible to anyone except perhaps New Yorkers & in my opinion they're unjustified but they are what they are.

For transparency here's a couple of things that could be better. I'm only commenting here on my room, I'm not qualified to generalise. These are certainly not deal breakers either. The ensuite bathroom was really tiny & the taps were loose on the basin making them fiddly to use. The bathroom was clean though & had an ample supply of hot water & the shower worked just fine. The room curtains definitely need replacing!

Charming Bed & Breakfast in London During my stay in London, I had the pleasure of spending four nights in a private British guest house with real bed & breakfast charm. The accommodation offers an authentic and cosy atmosphere that immediately gives a homely feeling. The room was fully equipped, including towels, which were changed daily along with the bed linen. The daily cleaning of the room also ensured a high level of comfort. The bathroom was always clean and was thoroughly cleaned regularly. The toilet paper was reliably replenished. The fittings in the shower were a little loose and, like the tiles, were getting on in years, but fully functional. It was particularly positive that the hot water ran perfectly, so that comfort was not affected. The excellent English breakfast, which was included in the price, was particularly noteworthy - a perfect start to the day. The staff were extremely friendly and created a welcoming atmosphere with their easy-going manner. You almost felt at home. The location of the accommodation was ideal for exploring: Camden Town with the Electric Ballroom and the Roundhouse was only a 2 kilometre walk away. In addition, the nearby Tufnell Park tube station on the Northern Line provided a quick connection to the city centre. Numerous bus connections in all directions also provided flexible mobility. All in all, a recommendable accommodation for anyone who wants to experience London with personal flair.

• Condition of the bathroom The fittings in the shower were extremely loose and, like the tiles, were clearly showing their age. Nevertheless, everything was fully functional and the hot water ran perfectly.

The couple that ran the place worked very well together . The breakfast was great ,large jug of orange juice on the table,cooked breakfast and toast . The mushrooms ,not sure how they were cooked but the flavour was amazing ,best mushrooms I ever had in my life . Room was cleaned each day and new towels provided.

The shower curtain was a little short so water dripped all over the floor . Sink very tiny ,which my husband found difficult to shave in. The heater didn't work ,first night felt really cold until I got in bed . The wall was touching the bed and I banged my head on the wall at least 3 times the first night .

This property is incredible. not only are the staff friendly and accommodating, the location is super close to camden and you can get transport in very easily or even walk if you're able-bodied. I am so very glad that we decided to stay here it genuinely made our weekend after we had such an awful experience at another bnb. I cannot thank the staff enough, you guys are wonderful. the beds were so comfortable, it was quiet and our breakfast was so tasty

honestly i think the only thing was that the room felt small but there were four beds in one room so it was expected that it wouldn't be a large room so it really wasn't actually a problem we were just very cosy!

Location is great less then 30 mins to city center, incliding a less then 10 min walk to metro station, among the lovely and peaceful residential neigbourhood. Area felt pretty safe for solo traveler even in the evening. Even though room is basic it is always kept clean, bed and pillows very comfortable. Also clean towels provided as well as shower gel. Breakfast was excellent, choice of English breakfast, omlette, cereals, with coffee/tea and orange juice, and everything was really delicious. Even though facility is a bit old and despite some reviews mentioning this as a flaw, I don' think this is something that really impacts the stay, because the checking and cleaning of rooms is regular and this is most important for bed and breakfast stays.

For me room size was enough but bathroom could be a struggle for someone more robust. Soundproofing not ideal but again as long as all the guest respect the quiet hrs, which was my experience, it is really peaceful.

I had a lovely weekend stay at the Charlie hotel. Breakfast was very good! My room was a good size, clean and the bed was comfortable. The staff were absolutely lovely and went above and beyond. I accidentally left a sentimental item in the room and they did everything they could to get it back to me. The location is great! Less than 10 minutes to the nearest tube station and situated in a nice quiet residential area.

Rooms could do with a little modernisation but I think it adds to the charm.

The staff, especially Ramona, were incredible... Hot hot water every morning in the shower, safe secure parking, clean towels and room cleaned every day. Breakfast was delicious. I recommend the cheese omelette, and the value for money was incredibly high.

Nothing i didn't like to be fair... I booked and expected 2 stars with secure parking. But bear in mind it's 50£ a night, including breakfast. I asked for a bedside light, which was done immediately, and when I stay again, I'll take a travel kettle and mug as none was provided.

At first, I was a bit nervous because I saw a lot of negative reviews on Google, but luckily, my experience was completely different! The place turned out to be one of the best and cheapest accommodations I’ve had in England. The breakfast was huge, I didn’t expect it to be that big. This place will definitely be my first choice if I need accommodation in London again. :)

The only downside was the lack of a hairdryer in the room, but everything else was great!
