This hostel is really well located in a lovely area, close to UCL and Regent Street. Very clean and the beds were comfortable. Kirchen facilities are also really good.

Not every bed has a cage or locker that can be used to secure valuables which is not the usual standard of a hostel. Many of the nights stayed in this hostel were really good except for two when a person stayed in the room (six bed female room) who was quite a bully toward the other people staying in that space. Sadly the staff were able to do little about it because the hostel was fully booked so relocating to another place was necessary but hopefully this doesn't happen often.

The room was pretty incredibly hot. There were two fans and it still wasn’t enough to combat just how hot it was.

The location is great (quick walk to tube and buses), the building is new enough, the reception area is nice and inviting (we had a few meals there), the staff was friendly and also quick on check-in/check-out times. I liked that there are vending machines and also a water bottle refil station. Didn't use the self catering facilities, but my friend did and it's nice to know it's an option. The available breakfast is also a nice, though simple, option to fuel up for the day.

The beds were not uncomfortable, but they were definitely noisy. Also, we booked a room for women only, but it was clear there were men in the room right next door who we had to share a toilet and shower with (it would really be great to see some more thought there since many women choose women only rooms to feel safe). It would also be good for the building to have a second lift since there are five floors, but that's more of a plus than a necessity.

The hostel is located within easy walking distance of public transport, major landmarks, shopping districts, places to eat, etc. There is a 24 hours reception. A large lounge area with a cafe/bar serves coffees, teas, alcohol and snacks at reasonable prices. Continental breakfast is served at an extra cost of around £5. There is a lift serving all floors. In the basement there is a well equipped kitchen to prepare, heat and store food. The basement also has a laundry room ( wash £3, dry £3, soap £1.20), to wash clothes and store luggage. Towels are not provided, but can be hired at an extra cost. It also has an iron/board and hairdryers. There is wi-fi throughout which can occasionally be weak. Each bed has a socket and light. There is also a fan in the room for communal use. Access to rooms, etc is by electronic key card, so security is not an issue but not all dorms have lockers.The housekeeping staff do an excellent job making sure that the dorms and hostel overall is clean every day. The staff are all friendly, and helpful. The hostel is well maintained. On the down side, there are no curtains to any beds. As a suggestion to the hostel, I think it would be helpful if the white key cards had some kind of mark like a coloured sticker on it because very often it is placed on the bed (white linen) while getting ready and left behind when the guest leaves the room. If it had a mark it would be easier to notice. Apart from that no complaints, I had a thoroughly good time and was lucky to share dorms (moved from 6 to 8 bed dorms) with considerate and friendly room mates. Thank you to all the staff. I will definitely be returning.

The location and staff were what we noticed first. Unbeatable! The reception staff were really engaging and helpful. We were 5 minutes walk from all the shops and pubs near Oxford Circus but actually on a quiet street if that makes sense. We booked a four bed dorm with a bathroom for the three of us. The room was small but clean and functional. Each bed had a reading light and a charging port. There were extra lounge and kitchen/meals areas to use which is pretty standard with a large hostel and most people we came across were up for a chat. There was also a local Tesco place around the corner open late if needed. Felt safe walking around the neighbourhood late at night no problems.

The mattresses were on the slim side, but not unexpected in a hostel setting.

It was an impromptu trip to London, and based on my past experiences with hostels, I chose to book at YHA. The main draw was the option to book a room with a private bathroom and two bunk beds, which offered both privacy and good value. The location couldn't be better—just a 5-minute walk to numerous attractions, bus stops, and tube stations. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making our stay even more enjoyable. Our room was spotless and met all our expectations. Just one note though: the bed is a bit firm.

While the hostel advertises having an elevator, unfortunately, it was out of service during my stay. I’m not entirely sure whether it was broken or simply turned off, but I didn't notice any maintenance work being done to repair it.

I had a great stay at YHA London Central and would highly recommend it, especially for solo travelers. The location is fantastic, super safe, even at night, and within walking distance of many key sites. It really gives you the freedom to explore the city easily. The breakfast was good, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the bed itself was comfortable. However, I’m giving it a 9/10 because I’ve had better sleep in simpler hostels. Overall, it’s a great hostel with an excellent location and solid amenities, but if you’re sensitive to noise or room temperature, keep these factors in mind. Would definitely stay here again!

There were a few issues that affected my rest: 1. Room Temperature – The heating wasn’t on, and the room felt quite cold. 2. Roommates & Noise – This is just luck, but I was in an 8-person dorm, which can be challenging for sleep. One girl was screaming in her sleep, and another kept the light on all night. Friday night was fine, but Saturday was tough. 3. Bathroom Sink – The sink in the shared bathroom was tiny, making it difficult to wash your hands or face without splashing water everywhere. In the dorm, using the sink in the morning was tricky because I didn’t want to wake others with the noise.

Very closely located to Oxford Circus, about 10 min walk. Well served by transport including the 88 bus. Staff were very helpful. Safe, clean, quiet location. Four bed, en-suite room which was small but perfectly formed. Cafe and self catering available. Guests could also order in take away food.

Unfortunately the beds were not very comfortable, the matresses were very thin, we all could feel the bed frames beneath. The beds were also very squeaky everytime we turned over. The first night we arrived the lift was out of order meaning we had to haul ourselves and our suitcases up 4 floors.

My stay at YHA London Central was overall very satisfactory. The rooms were consistently clean and well-maintained, offering a structure that meets the needs of various types of travelers. The location is one of the property’s main highlights, providing convenient access to key tourist attractions and public transportation. The hostel also offers useful amenities such as a café/bar, shared kitchen, laundry facilities, and luggage storage, all of which contribute to a more practical and comfortable experience. I would like to highlight the reception team, particularly Louise and Alex, whose professionalism and attentiveness played a key role in ensuring a welcoming and efficient check-in process.

While the overall experience was positive, there are a few areas that could benefit from improvement. The washbasins in the bathrooms are noticeably small, making basic tasks such as washing hands or brushing teeth somewhat uncomfortable. During the night, noise in the hallways—likely due to school groups—can disrupt rest and sleep. Additionally, although the café/bar is a convenient feature, it could offer a wider range of quick meal options to better serve guests.

Perfect for us with children 7 - 10. We’d definitely stay again. Lovely friendly staff with welcoming reception. Very chilled, friendly atmosphere Incredibly clean. Bunk beds in our family room were great! Worth paying for the self serve continental breakfast that the children rated as their top fun activity of the whole London trip! Worth hiring the lovely big towels for £2 each as there’s none at all in the room (no bath mat or hand towel). Easy to find. Safe location. Very convenient. We were lucky to have a view of the BT Tower from our room. Great budget fun. It’s London though so warn children not to expect outdoor space and indoor lounges they may have had with YHA in the countryside. Regents Park play area is about 15 mins walk.

We weren’t advised that the lift was out of action. There are a lot of stairs to climb that was fun for us and kept us fit! However, not advisable with elderly relatives that we saw breathless and struggling. I wouldn’t have wanted to carry a child, or lots of luggage up these stairs. I wouldn’t want to do this with 1 adult + young children either as you need to go up and down to the kitchen and cafe area and couldn’t leave them without key cards (to the room + corridors) and in a high rise building (we did have a fire alarm too). The pillows were awful thin and a bit hard - noted even by the children! - and we only had one each.
