Nice vibe, with boutique rooms over an old pub. The staff were extremely nice, letting us leave our luggage early and carrying it up 3 flights of stairs to our room when it was available (unasked) - when we came back to check in and carry our stuff up it was such a nice surprise. The location is in a quiet neighborhood but within a 10 minute walk to Covent Garden, Picadilly Circus, Soho, and the British Museum. The room had a nice coffee maker and water kettle and was stocked with nice tea/coffee and cookies. The bed was comfortable and very quiet at night. Breakfast was a continental breakfast with fruit, pastries, cereal, yogurt, etc. You could order eggs for an additional charge.

The stairs up to the rooms are steep (the building is old), so be aware of that when you book. There is no elevator.

We loved our stay - the hotel is right in the centre of London, but the street was incredibly quiet (monday night). The whole place is decorated beautifully, each of the rooms has its own 'farrow and ball' style character and no detail was overlooked. We stayed in the "snug" (room with the key wallpaper) which was still big enough to open our two suitcases and had a HUGE bathroom with a luxurious shower, alongside features we didn't even know we needed like a bluetooth speaker mirror and a nespresso machine. The bed was the most comfortable one we have stayed in all trip. There's a doubly secured private entrance at the back for hotel guests, so it was also easy to get in later at night. The service was also impeccable. Everyone was lovely and the breakfast was delicious and reasonably priced for central London. We would love to return in the future.

Nothing! It was genuinely great.

Such a cozy, quiet, calm place to stay just a 5 minute walk from the action of Oxford St. check in and out was easy, the staff super friendly, and the breakfast was top notch. There’s a dedicated side entrance for guests, and just around the corner is The Attendant - a fantastic coffee shop that was a former public lavatory. It’s worth a visit. But this area has everything a visitor would need nearby, but without the noise, I had no issue sleeping. Rooms feel very recent, the shower was a dream. And if you pick the copper tub room like I did, a corner room with a gorgeous tub, you can soak anytime.. I would definitely stay here or in their sister property “the spice of life” in the heart of theater district when I next return to London.

Just be aware there are stairs up to the rooms, and the stairs are a bit narrow. Much like any older building in London. It was no issue for me but access could be an issue for some.

It was reasonably priced and the staff were helpful. It was a historic building from the 1700s so it was different.

No elevator so we had to lug our baggage up and down 4 sets of very narrow stairs. Not a good place to stay if you’re a senior.

The staff were exceptionally welcoming. The room was well appointed and the bathroom, an excellent shower and ventilation system. Breakfast was good, and whilst continental, was more than enough. And a discount on hot items was really appreciated. Coffee pod machine, quality tea bags, biscuits and decent toiletries made this equivalent to a decent hotel. Location was 5 minutes from Oxford Street. Perfect. Bar food was very good too. Nothing could be improved and definitely will stay there again.

Nothing, but it’s a trek up the steep staircase with your luggage. Staff offered to carry for us, but we managed fine.

Absolutely gorgeous room, it was a genuine boutique (pub) hotel in a historic building. You will receive a warm welcome and personal service - the staff could not have been more helpful or friendly and had ensured there were gluten-free options for my (coeliac) daughter at breakfast. We only had the breakfast items from the included continental selection, as there was so much to choose from that I wouldn't have managed anything else, but there was the option to select items from the cooked breakfast menu at a discount. We were in room 5, which was the green-themed room on the top floor. There are a lot of stairs to this room, but it was good for working off all the calories! The room itself was spacious and tastefully decorated in a very individual theme - with the best sign for the door ever. The bathroom was large, with a fab shower. There was an excellent selection of hot drinks in the room, including a coffee machine and hot chocolate sachets. I loved the 'gentleman' theme. The location was great, an easy 5 min stroll to Oxford Street (and Oxford Circus tube station). We also walked into Soho and theatre-land and it was a nice walk back to the hotel after a show at the Piccadilly Theatre to see Moulin Rouge (absolutely fabulous, you simply have to see this show). We were able to store our bags on our last day, which was really handy.

The only thing that stops this being a 10 score is the mattress, which was a bit soft and soggy for me. I also would have preferred one of the pillows to have been a little flatter, as they were all quite big plump pillows.

The decor, the staff, the location, the atmosphere of old world London. The rooms were of a high quality, we had 2 different rooms as decided to stay an extra night. We loved the individuality of the staff and their style. Breakfast was delicious and sufficient to start your day. Also, we thought being above a pub would be really noisy, however, it was mostly quiet.

In the second room, one bedside light didn't work. Attention to detail for the price paid.

Well decorated room with stunning copper tub and lovely quaint furnishings. Great water pressure and heating option for the thermostat to combat sudden freezing rain in London during my stay. Breakfast was exceptional as I was offered the full English breakfast but instead chose something else off the menu. Staff are accommodating and friendly as well.
