Me, my wife and our little cockapoo had a great time staying the night at The Farmers Boy Inn. Lovely location in the countryside, close to bigger towns and the Forest of Dean; as well as other major attractions. Room was spacious with a huge bed. The accommodations have their own little courtyard area, there's plenty of parking spaces and its nice and quiet around. Had dinner at the pub which was very tasty, good selection of beers on tap, and a nice beer garden. Thought the price for the night was very reasonable indeed, especially as it included breakfast, which was also very tasty. Staff were very polite and helpful as well. Would recommend.

Great welcome from staff and locals alike... the beer and "pietastic" game pie with proper mash and gravy were fantastic. Really liked my room... they are individual chalets away from the pub so quiet and comfortable... Breakfast in the morning was a lovely bacon sandwich and coffee served under immense pressure because Alex Polizzi was filming for an episode of The Hotel Inspector ... I can imagine some businesses may have ignored me or said that the kitchen was closed in order to concentrate on the filming Barbara and the team took it all in their stride and I left wanting to stay again soon.. It's now on my favourite list.

I am tall so was a bit cramped getting in the shower and toilet area... but that's not a dislike..

Staff are amazing. Service exceptional and we normally do 5 star. So friendly can't do enough for you and want to help with anything. The chef even gave us his iron when the house one didn't work. Shout out to Katie and Susie in particular true front of house staff with mega personalities and communications skills . Food exceptional for an Inn. Please provide proper fruit salad selection at breakfast and more healthy options not whole fruit. I've never seen this before, and all guests were not happy with that. A self service table with cereals , juices and fruit salad and yoghurt to help yourself whilst waiting for cooked breakfast would be preferred.

Not a criticism as the team go above re effort to resolve everything. Accommodation needs upgrading, particularly the tvs awful couldn't get working and too small, the framed instructions on the walls in my face- put them in a booklet, no pictures of food, pictures of the history of the Inn and surroundings more relaxing,, bed not the most comfortable and dusty headboard and floor, needs shelfs and hooks in bathrooms, some sockets didn't work, outside patio furniture needs updating to comfortable and weeding, lighting, cobweb wiping each day on sills etc. Won't take as a gem of a place. Oh and pastel relaxing paint theme in bedroom and no fleecy blankets. And no net curtains invest in blinds. In fact an interior design and patio refurbishment would add so much. As a lovely place xx

The staff were amazing, my husband was ill whilst we were there and they looked after us both like we were family. Their customer service is excellent. We had breakfast and an evening meal during our stay and the food was exceptional. Great produce and cooked to perfection.

The accommodation was great but if a couple of minor things were added it would be excellent, although there is seating in the lovely courtyard outside the room a chair inside would have been lovely also a towel rail in the bathroom for airing used towels... otherwise everything was perfect.

Great Room with large comfortable bed - shower and toilet en-suite and coffee making facilities - a little dated in style but very Clean and comfortable - even the central heating kicked in as it was chilly and that Was very welcome. Booked a meal At Lunchtime in the pub which was very good from their extensive range of pies

A little noisy when some guests returned at 4am but this wasn’t the fault of the pub! Would’ve been nice to have had breakfast included. But couldn’t fault the venue - ideal one night stop whilst visiting friends nearby. Staff were very welcoming and helpful - would return!

Lovely friendly pub with accommodation just what we were looking for. I had not booked an adjoining room but this was offered which was perfect for us (mother and daughter). Food was really good and a nice choice of wines and drinks. Able to book a table in advance online at a time to suit. Accommodation was very clean and comfortable. You are able to sit outside your room (in a private shared courtyard) if only the weather had been better. Located on a fairly quiet road and easy to find via satnav.

Breakfast was one price - would have preferred to have been able to just have continental without cooked options etc but nothing was too much trouble (particularly as we had not booked for breakfast).

Cracking little conveniently located Inn. Was running late due to work commitments and pushing arrival close to their closing time...received a courtesy call from the Inn to check all ok and confirmed arrival and although in process of closing up for the evening, she offered to keep a couple of cold beers available for arrival...(extremely welcomed, especially after a long hot day travelling...appreciated and my kind of service, thanks). Room was very clean, comfortable and set in a quiet courtyard. Beds very comfortable and had a great nights sleep. Well stocked with tea/coffee and ammentities. No complaints. Breakfast served by a lovely attentive lady, who knows customer service, a nice touch that you don't tend to get in the large chain hotels. Can recommend the All-In Breakfast bap to set you up for the day (it was on another level good, thanks chef). All in all, cracking short stop and really glad stumbled across, a traditional Inn in every sense whilst travelling through. For the price paid, with Genius 2 level discount, it was an absolute bargain and will actively look out for this place future if/when passing to definately stay again. Thanks to all the staff for being so welcoming, good job! :-)

Old fashioned pub, converted outbuildings which were excellent, comfortable room of good size. All necessary things needed, kettle ect. Good tv, plenty of hot water. Safe yard for dogs. Which were made welcome. Staff and other customers were lovely & friendly. I travelled alone and enjoyed a warm welcome.

I thought an upgrade in the bathroom wouldn’t go a miss but it was clean & functional.

A great place to stay. Spotlessly clean, a large and comfy bed, plenty of hot water, plenty of electrical sockets. Breakfast (lots of choice) available next door in the pub, which serves evenings meals too. No road noise at all. The staff are lovely. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for everything.

Wifi very slow in the evenings. Also, perhaps introduce some healthier options at breakfast? Meusli/granola, plain yogurt, brown bread - that's all. :-)

The friendliness of the owners. The food was excellent. We had a steak and ale pie and a steak and ale pie with blue cheese. The mash potatoes and the veg were cooked to perfection. The best pies we have had anywhere to date. The full English breakfast was also very good quality and perfectly cooked. Room was comfortable and quiet. Lovely pub garden round the back.
