Overall, the stay was great. Staff are all lovely (although there was what appeared to be a new waiter who was fumbling when i asked for an orange juice and lemonade). Rooms are very dated and in need of a refresh, but perfectly pleasant and comfy enough. The grounds of the property are beautiful, so that's an added bonus. the overall building is also very beautiful. The best bit (which isn't my main reason for staying) is definately the food. I ate dinner here for the first time and it was lovely. Breakfast, i always order poached eggs and gluten free toast. Eggs were perfect. Compliment fed back at the time!

The gym is tiny and was very hot (it was a hot day). I felt a bit claustrophobic and nervous i might get stuck! Corridors to rooms are very narrow and there's a lot of climbing to get to your room with luggage. No lifts available, so not great if you're not that fit and able.

It's beautiful. The staff especially the love Latvian receptionist who's name I'm so sorry I can't pronounce was so welcoming and friendly. The staff could not do enough to help us. As a disabled traveller I always worry but the hotel totally accessible. Rooms were clean and spacey with everything you need or ring the front desk and they will help. Our breakfast table, not a problem, help to get drinks, no problem. I needed extra clean towels and an ironing board and they brought them right up. Nothing was too much trouble. The room was comfortable and the bed, wow super comfy. Love the pig in the foyer but laughed our socks off at the horse, that is a must see. The Food was amazing and not too pricey for a 4 star hotel. We were there for a wedding and the venue is exceptional.. 12 Acres to walk around and great if you take your furbabies with you. Love the little touches like a doggy menu and welcome treats. The doggy dining area is just fabulous. Breakfast was so inclusive fully cooked English, yogurts, fruit, pastries, hams and continental. Cereals of all types. Loads of choices for Milk. Juices Teas Coffee. Rooms service was great as was the choice of food. Evening meals great. Bar A touch pricey BUT not overly pricey. Loads of wines, spirits, beers and even better plenty of Zero drinks.

If I have to find anything on the down side is that the disabled shower cubicle could do with a bit of a new grout round the bottom seals. If not replacing. A new seat would be good too.

The staff were friendly and the hotel very clean and welcoming. The breakfast was extremely good with everything you could wish for. Nice room to have breakfast in with views of the garden. The hotel has a nice bar and lounge area, and nice outdoor space over looking the gardens. It was a lovely sunny evening so we sat outside. The bedroom was adequate for our needs and the bed was comfortable. The hotel is in a nice location outside of Gloucester but would not be any good if you did not have a car.

We did not think the dinner menu was very interesting, more like pub food than a restaurant. The food was ok, basic British food but nothing to write home about. there were several coach parties staying at the hotel and it did seem to cater for large numbers of people who wanted basic British food. My husband and I both like fish but the only fish on the menu was fish and chips which was passable but have had much better in a pub.

Good sized restaurant , evening dinner and breakfast very good . Plenty of choice at both , service excellent and staff extremely efficient and helpful . Especially the nice lady on reception who carried my bag up to top floor . I didn’t get her name. Reasonable value .

Top floor bedroom ( and whole floor ) was very very warm , we definitely needed the air con on . Lots of stairs( 3 and a half flights ) no lift . Need to specify at booking if you find stairs tricky . Fairly basic bathroom , over the bath shower no handrail . Again a bit tricky if mobility issues be clear on booking of your needs . Felt bathroom needed updating.

From arrival to departure, staff were friendly and helpful. Every request was met with positively even though at times we were quite a large and indecisive party! There was adequate space for us to meet as a larger group without feeling as though we were imposing on other guests. Our room was spotless and a good size for the price. The "behind the scenes" staff were as friendly and accommodating as the "front of house" staff. Food was delicious and reasonably priced and the choice for breakfast was excellent. Hotel and grounds were very attractive.

Nothing, I would have been happy to stay longer and would definitely stay here as first choice if I am in Gloucester area again in future.

I stay in a lot of hotels in the UK and there are very few that deliver or make me leave a positive review. The staff were amazing, every one I spoke to were warm, friendly and went above and beyond. Other hotels could learn a lot from a visit here. Special mention to the lovely lady on reception and the lady who greeted me at breakfast. Breakfast was one of the best breakfasts I've had. All really fresh, well cooked and great selection.

The room was very clean and comfortable bed. I just wished I'd asked for a room further away from the hotels activity as it was a bit noisy. I will definitely stay again when I next go to Gloucester.

Tina gave a lovely warm welcome each morning at breakfast time and made sure we were look after. She's great. Breakfast fresh and tasty. Room was very comfortable and spacious with a large bathroom.

Bowden has friendly staff and is a nice place to stay. However i think the dinner menu a little limited. Gloucester pork is a local delicacy and the hotel is missing a trick not offering this on the menu. Also during the four nights we stayed a huge tour bus was parked the whole time in front of the dining room impeded our view. There's a huge car park, why couldn't it be parked away from the house ? Such a shame as we wanted to enjoy the view of the country side at breakfast and dinner times.. As the hotel clearly advertises, they don't have a lift to access rooms bear this in mind when booking. Staff are very helpful assisting with luggage.

Very nearly perfect. The Bowden Hall Hotel had nearly everything I would want/expect in a one night stay at a hotel. The facilities, room, comfort, parking ticked all the right boxes. A shout out to the especially polite and approachable staff who made my stay feel much more welcome than most.

To be really picky I'd have liked a lift to access my room. The wi-fi to be more consistent (though I did still comfortably complete all my work for the day) and there to have been clearer direction to the gym (at 7pm I was too tired to search or ask someone for direction).

Breakfast was wonderful. We only had 1 supper as there was a wedding at the hotel on Saturday and hotel was very busy. The staff were all very kind and courteous, I must say that the young people working at the hotel deserve a mention, they are a credit to the staff group.

The accessible room could have been a little more disabled friendly, and no lift was a disadvantage. The staff were very help and considerate towards us. Maybe look at shower facilities in that room.

I stayed at this Hotel 40 years ago for nearly 3months, and vowed I would one day return, so for our 38th wedding anniversary I booked a room as a surprise for my wife, I was not disappointed, and nor was my Wife, we often go away for special occasions and at this Hotel Bowden Hall was every thing we had hoped for, beautiful location, quiet, and impressive building, and the staff, from the cleaner trying to hoover the entrance, the receptionists, restaurant staff, were all so friendly, efficient helpful and extremely polite. The food was excellent, both evening meal and a superb Breakfast. We WILL BE RETURNING.
