Superb location right in the heart of Tewkesbury - step out the front door and you are in the centre for all shops, pubs, restaurants and walks along the river and to Tewkesbury Abbey. Lovely character building with delightful period features. All staff were absolutely fantastic - very friendly, professional and more than willing to help with any requests. Room was great, very spacious with very comfortable bed and great shower - overlooked the high street but was still very quiet during day and nighttime. Excellent breakfast served at very reasonable times - selection or fruit, cereals, juices with menu offering hot options. We opted for the Full English each day - yummy. Always a bonus to get onsite parking although spaces are quite limited so clearly a first come, first served basis and accessed via a very narrow road. Overall couldn't find fault with anything

Nothing however just an observation that as with all hotels, bar prices are more expensive than local pubs.

The dog tax which has now risen by 50 percent to £15 . I guess it is for “extra cleaning “ of the room - hoteliers always say this . I am sure the housekeeper doesn’t see the money. I spilled some water on the bedroom carpet using the bath mat to mop up which turned black and gathered up a ball of hair so I don’t think deep cleaning comes into it. I ordered a pie and should have received a free pint but this was never offered (only found out after dinner) . The server watched me leave a ten percent cash tip but i only realised after I left that there was already a 10pc service charge included in my bill . I should have had my glasses on !

The staff were very good friendly and helpful, the hotel location was good, the room was lovely and the outside area was nice with plenty of outdoor seating. The bar and restaurant area was nice with comfy seating, overall a nice character hotel in a lovely place.

The food could have been better, the evening menu was ok but not a lot of choice if you don’t want burgers or fish and chips, the breakfast was very disappointing, not much fresh fruit at all and very few yoghurts, no healthy options really, the cooked breakfast was ok but poor quality sausages and awful cheap packaged bread. As we paid a premium rate for the hotel I didn’t think it was worth it, a shame really as I loved everything else about the hotel, especially the staff they were great.

The superior double room was lovely. Well decorated and lots of room with a splendid view over the river. It was interesting to see pictures and read about the history of Tewkesbury. We had a nice selection of tea, coffee and hot chocolate with a pack of biscuits each and complimentary bottle of water. The bathroom was nice and had complimentary shower gel and shampoo.

The windows didn’t stay open and kept falling down and closing so we couldn’t get any fresh air. There were a few cobwebs on the ceiling. The radiator bubbled a bit and needed bleeding. The bed was a bit hard for me.

Lovely building . A bit creeky at night but suppose that’s to be expected given the age of property. Good food and service on the whole .

First impression was good and on first glance everything clean . But going into bathroom and going to use toilet after lifting lid I was disgusted to find the toilet dirty . We did flush toilet a couple of times and it was obvious that this was just because it hadn’t been cleaned properly. I did report it and someone said they would take a look. It obviously wasn’t as bad by then with us flushing . On hindsight I should have taken a photo first . I didn’t get any apology at all . Felt like it wasn’t taken too seriously and actually got the impression that I should have got on with it and cleaned it myself .

The location is great! And the building is incredible. The greeting on the reception was friendly and efficient. The room itself was comfortable,clean and warm with a modern en-suite bathroom. Although we couldn’t get the tv to work it made a change to listen to quality DAB radio in the room.

We had booked for breakfast but we decided to cancel because we had a few issues with our evening meal. The staff seemed to be under considerable pressure as the warm weather made the outside eating area fairly busy.

Excellent location. Room spacious and comfortable. Bathroom beautifully decorated with nice toiletries, and a helpful mirror light for finding your way during the night. Staff very friendly and welcoming Limited dining menu, but it was very convenient to be able to eat at the hotel in the evening. The food was good and well priced.

Car park not particularly easy to access, and insufficient spaces for the number of rooms. Our room was in an adjacent building, accessed via an external staircase which was not adequately lit at night (there was a sensor light but it went off too quickly) One of the bedside lamps was not bright enough to read by

Excellent service from the deputy manager. Good atmosphere, good bar. Not a huge variety on the dinner menu, but food was of good quality and well-presented. Room was as described, clean and comfortable, the DAB radio is a nice little touch. Modern bathroom, strong shower and nice lighting. Bed comfy and level. Might sound a minor point, but head lower than legs due to an old, squashed mattress is always a digestive nightmare through the night. Overall, I would recommend, does lots of things well. Great location if you're attending a show at the Rose Theatre.

Small car park used by non-residents. Plenty of cheap public parking nearby, but still would have preferred not to be hauling luggage around town centre.

This is a nice historic building sensitively converted into a hotel. The room was spacious and characterful, comfy bed (although see next paragraph), nice bathroom with everything functioning well, good supply of tea and coffee-making equipment. Although it is on the high street, double glazing and thick curtains kept out the traffic noise. Breakfast was good and breakfast room was light and pleasant. Service was excellent.

The floor of the room sloped quite severely, as one might expect in an old timber-framed building, but the bed didn't have to slope too... a couple of wooden blocks would level it up easily. As it was, my wife woke up several times in the night with nearly rolling out of bed.

loved the room size but it was very dusty lamps ,picture frames etc floor needed hovering as there were what was like stones on the carpet which were sticking in my feet I did ask the manager and he was great and got it hoovered the next day, toilet wasn't cleaned very well either didn't mention this to staff I have worked in hotels myself and the room was great but the cleaning wasn't the best in our room sorry to say might be a new cleaner? the rest of the hotel was spotless
