The breakfast was extremely good, perfectly cooked, with plenty of choice and served by a friendly and attentive waitress. Our room was clean, with a spacious ensuite and the luxury of a heated towel rail. We could see the beautiful abbey from our window. The location was perfect for visiting Tewkesbury and the surrounding area.

Our only issue was that we asked at Reception, on arrival, whether we needed to book for our evening meal in the restaurant, and were told that it wasn't necessary. On our first evening, the restaurant was fully booked, so we had to go elsewhere. We booked for the following two evenings!

A good location near the Abbey and the town. The vegan breakfast was excellent and the lady on duty was cheerful and efficient even though she was the only one on taking orders, serving and clearing the tables. The dining room and the bar area were very comfortable. Our room bed was clean and comfortable and as requested we were given a room with a walk in shower.

About half the food and drinks we asked for were not available. Bad planning and ordering on the part of the management. The bar and dining room were understaffed. In our room the shower head needed replacing because the water was coming out of the sides. The toilet paper was of poor quality which was a false economy.

Lovely historic pub with rooms above, but quiet, comfortable, and safe. Liked · Terrific place to stay. I had a single room, traveling alone, but the room met all my expectations and needs. I had a room at the back on a small side residential street, so it was very quiet. No problems with noise, even though the room was above a restaurant pub. Staff was so helpful. Didn’t do any meals there, and was out most of each day to an event. But, it was very well located right in the middle of the town, lots of shops, cafes, and restaurants very close by. Directly across from the Abbey, short walk to the other end of town for shopping and to the venue. Always felt safe when out walking around on my own, even at night. Has the historic charm in the pub/restaurant, but found my room to be modern and comfortable.

Disliked · Nothing to complain about, however, it does not have an elevator. So, luggage must be carried up and down stairs. Not a problem, just know that.

The breakfasts were plentiful and generally well cooked and presented. The location of the hotel is excellent for walking into town. The provision of a fan in the bedroom was very welcome.

Bar staff are in need of a bit more direction. A particular wine on offer in the happy hour wasn't available but an appropriate substitute wasn't offered. The bar was left unattended whilst customers were waiting to be served. The flooring in the bathroom squeaked badly and we weren't sure whether this would be a bother for the room downstairs. Rather dark in the bathroom as a bulb had gone. Not sure how long it had needed changing?

Hotel in a great location at the end of the high street and near all facilities. Wedding party there when we arrived but did not affect service at the bar or in the restaurant and staff were friendly, attentive and helpful. Enjoyed both evening meal and breakfast, food was very excellent and reasonably priced, would recommend. Room was large with adequate space and bathroom. Slept well but the building is old so creaky floorboards along corridors in the morning are to be expected. Great outside space with free parking

No complaints

The hotel is in a fabulous location, just a few minutes walk into the main town, the staff were all friendly and helpful and the food was really good, and we enjoyed being able to sit outside for a drink as well as in the bar, good value prices, our rooms were clean and comfortable and it was great having parking on site.

Some of the general areas like the stair carpet could do with updating but it didn't effect our stay at all.

This little pub is a total gem of a find, directly across from The Abbey in Tewkesbury town centre. The staff, without exception are beyond fantastic. The fabulous Yasmin looked after us at breakfast, where nothing was too much trouble. The rest of the team, too numerous to mention individually, were just lovely. Thank you to the Restaurant Manager ,(Melanie???) who sorted out our 'small plate requests on Saturday night. 🙏

The hotel is clearly a lot to upkeep and is also in parts, an older building hence some bits are a little 'tired' but honestly, for lovely people and VfM; you won't beat this place. Oh and a great location too. 10 minute walk along a paved street into town (and my mum who's 87 did it with no issues).

Terrific locating across from the Abbey, and part of the inn is really really old. Really friendly staff, good food, good breakfast. I was in a room in the old part this time ( I’ve stayed before) and I had a lovely view of some little period houses through quaint leaded windows.

Nothing really. The room was petite but absolutely fine for my needs, and what you’d expect in a very old period property The bathroom was a bit dated but everything worked perfectly and the price was such good value it didn’t matter to me.

Very welcoming on arrival and good to have free car parking. Great location opposite the Abbey and I loved hearing bellringing on Thursday evening. Room had everything it needed including ironing board and iron. Nice touch. Breakfast was good and very generous.

My window opened onto internal roofs so no view and upstairs corridors a bit old fashioned but I rather liked that - it's an old building. I would like better coffee with breakfast and a big jug of hot milk with it but otherwise all good!

Charming pub with rooms right opposite Tewkesbury Abbey, handy for shops, restaurants, etc, and as a base for exploring Tewkesbury. The pub has excellent car parking which is a real plus (free if you’re stopping there). The staff were all really welcoming and efficient, and the rooms were comfortable, and not overheated. Our room overlooked the beer garden, so it was incredibly quiet at night (although there was live music on in the evening, which was less quiet, although we were going out so not a problem). It’s a chain pub, so nothing novel about the menus but the food was good, particularly the breakfast which was excellent value at £12.50 for a full English and all you wanted from the continental buffet. Hot breakfasts were freshly cooked and delicious. The whole place represents excellent value for money.

The only things I can fault it on were that there is no lift, and a lot of little internal steps because it’s a medieval building, and has been added to at different times, so it wouldn’t be very suitable for anyone who can’t manage stairs, there may be ground floor rooms in other parts of the building but we didn’t see them. The decor in our bathroom was a little bit tired in places, but that’s a minor quibble for a weekend visit.
