We loved the location - such a beautiful view, the fields, hillsides, sheep grazing... We also liked the feeling of history within the house. Built in 1742...old restored beams..higgledy-piggedly rooms..old photos in the corridors...ancient chairs in the hallway...
We realised that the hotel is a work in progress and will need perhaps more income to restore the fabric of the building, especially to its original state. But we appreciated the hard work of the lovely couple that run the hotel, and the warmest welcome they gave us (and the house was really beautifully warm!), as well as all the helpful directions that we needed.

This was the second part of my stay and I was in a different room. The bed was comfortable, staff friendly and parking was good.
The shower in this room also needed attention, the rain head was not great as it was out one side so did not work as a rain shower. Also the blind was missing a couple of slats which made the room lighter. I did not specifically ask for a quieter room although my booking says this, this wasn’t a quiet room because of other guests however I was not bothered, I’m not sure if this would be classed as the quiet side of the hotel, if that’s the case I would disagree but that was because of other guests. The hotel does not offer food and I think this needs to be updated on the advertising of the hotel.

The only downfalls was the shower needed attention in room 1 (probably a seal missing!) and they do not do any food (this needs updating on social media/websites/literature). Staff were very friendly and accommodating, parking is available behind the hotel (accessible by driving through an arch). Bed was nice and comfy, room was clean.
The shower had 2 heads, a rain shower head and a normal one, the normal shower head I believe was missing a seal as the water was spraying out of the hose. The hotel also doesn’t have an option for breakfast or any food meaning you have to go elsewhere.

Very good value basic B&B in an old inn in a small Forest of Dean village. Characterful old building. Not swish and modern, decor a bit shabby in places, but room was clean and comfortable with all facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good bar downstairs. Not serving food when I was there but there's a good fish and chip shop just down the road and they were happy for me to eat my meal in the hotel dining room just off the bar.

I have stayed at Littledean on numerous occasions and it never fails to please. Sanjay always remembers me and gives a warm welcome. Very clean as always, and room supplies (tea, coffee, sugar, water, toiletries and toilet roll) are all replenished daily. Cosy bar area with log fires. Adequate car parking spaces.
The room was a little cool due to low temperatures outside ~ heating appeared to be turned off.

Great location, exceptionally friendly staff and over all a wonderful stay. It was a last minute booking and we couldn’t be happier with the accommodation we chose. Great value for money, would definitely stay again!
The only thing I could possibly complain about would be that when you shower the toilet makes a lot of noise, but really this is not an issue at all. I’m grasping at straws here. Truly a really nice place to stay!

Location ideal for visiting Forest of Dean attractions. Good car park. Friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room. Interesting historical building.
On main road so loud traffic noise. Some minor maintenance issues such as poorly fitted curtains and loose toilet roll holder. Very loud plumbing, though it’s an old hotel so probably can’t be remedied.

This was my fifth stay at Littledean which speaks for itself. I was allocated my favourite room (11). As always it was clean, cozy and good value with a friendly greeting. Rooms supplies (coffee, tea, sugar) were well replenished. Adequate car parking.
Unfortunately breakfast is currently unavailable due to maternity leave - but not a big issue. Breakfast can be obtained at the Belfry which is a three minute walk - or the excellent Silver Fox Cafe on the A48 Chepstow road which is five minutes by car.

Owners and staff were lovely from the minute we arrived. Very tired after our long drive from Scotland we were trying to figure out if we could get a large van through the tunnel to the car park. Sandeep came over and assured us it was possible, pointing to a similar sized van already parked there. Sharon at reception was great. Genuinely interested in the reason for our stay and really helpful, despite having hurt her leg and being immobilized our keys were waiting and our breakfast order taken. The hotel is quirky and rooms and corridors involve negotiating lots of narrow sets of stairs, so not really suitable for elderly or disabled. Some rooms overlook the beer garden which can get noisy at weekends, but the double glazing does a great job and most events are over by 10pm. Rooms included towels, two pillows, complimentary tea and coffee, locally made chocolate, bottled water hand soap, shampoo and an shower gel. No hairdryer, but asked at the bar and Sandeep arranged for one to be waiting for me at reception when I returned from my walk which I returned the next day. Next day Lisa the Breakfast Manager cooked us a lovely breakfast and made sure we had everything we needed. Breakfast is an extra £8.50 but includes tea, coffee, juice, cereal, toast and full English (meat or vegetarian) and there was a kids menu as well. They will accommodate requests for things like scrambled egg on toast or filled rolls but we didn't need this. Full English was two slices of bacon, two fried eggs, sausage, mushroom, baked beans and tomato with one round of brown or white toast. You won't leave hungry! The breakfast area is just off the historic panelled reception area and very large and comfortable. Later we returned to our room and met Caroline the housekeeper who kindly gave us extra bottled water for our long drive to Wales and then back to Scotland. Later Lisa helped us check out, return the hairdryer and pay for breakfast and saw us back to the car park.
Bathroom was a bit tired and electric shower took a lot of fiddling as on high it basically spurted scalding water followed by freezing cold water on repeat - we discovered that turning the setting to eco gave consistent temperature but it was a bit lukewarm!

Great room, great setting. Friendly staff, toiletries and drinks topped up daily. Really enjoyed our stay.
When we went, food was not available. A local pub does bar breakfasts and bar meals daily. The bar was open as according to use, and was often closed earlyish for those who like an evening tipple.
