we stayed here as we wanted to visit little dean jail & wales. was perfect middle ground point, specially travelling from leicester. the owner was lovely on arrival, gave us recommendations of where to go / see and visit to! we were given a bag on day 2 of refreshments without them intruding our privacy and going in to the room to replace these which was nice too
being above a pub, was quite loud but we knew to expect this. also the bed wasn’t to our taste however, for the price it was perfect. for a base over the few days visiting we couldn’t have asked for anything more or better

The town of Littledean is nothing special other than it is conveniently located for The Forest of Dean and other local attractions in a beautiful part of England. The accomododation was excellent value with good parking and surprisingly light and modern. This was a small single room with a comfortable bed, perfect for an overnight stay with decent facilities and excellent reception and full freeview on the small LCD TV. The pub itself was very nice and felt welcoming - a "proper" pub. All in all excellent value for the £40 I paid for the night.
The town itself doesn't inspire.

Ambiance was really great in the bar with a ‘bonus’ Morris dancers practicing in the car park whilst we were there, not sure if they said it was an annual or monthly thing. The room was nice and clean, the shower was really powerful although the cubicle was a little small.
The bed was too hard for my liking although my partner liked it. There is no food available at all and whilst they let us know we could get breakfast at a nearby pub/hotel (The Belfry), they didn’t mention that we could have also gone there for an evening meal which would have been appreciated.

We loved the location - such a beautiful view, the fields, hillsides, sheep grazing... We also liked the feeling of history within the house. Built in 1742...old restored beams..higgledy-piggedly rooms..old photos in the corridors...ancient chairs in the hallway...
We realised that the hotel is a work in progress and will need perhaps more income to restore the fabric of the building, especially to its original state. But we appreciated the hard work of the lovely couple that run the hotel, and the warmest welcome they gave us (and the house was really beautifully warm!), as well as all the helpful directions that we needed.

This was the second part of my stay and I was in a different room. The bed was comfortable, staff friendly and parking was good.
The shower in this room also needed attention, the rain head was not great as it was out one side so did not work as a rain shower. Also the blind was missing a couple of slats which made the room lighter. I did not specifically ask for a quieter room although my booking says this, this wasn’t a quiet room because of other guests however I was not bothered, I’m not sure if this would be classed as the quiet side of the hotel, if that’s the case I would disagree but that was because of other guests. The hotel does not offer food and I think this needs to be updated on the advertising of the hotel.

Very good value basic B&B in an old inn in a small Forest of Dean village. Characterful old building. Not swish and modern, decor a bit shabby in places, but room was clean and comfortable with all facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Good bar downstairs. Not serving food when I was there but there's a good fish and chip shop just down the road and they were happy for me to eat my meal in the hotel dining room just off the bar.

The only downfalls was the shower needed attention in room 1 (probably a seal missing!) and they do not do any food (this needs updating on social media/websites/literature). Staff were very friendly and accommodating, parking is available behind the hotel (accessible by driving through an arch). Bed was nice and comfy, room was clean.
The shower had 2 heads, a rain shower head and a normal one, the normal shower head I believe was missing a seal as the water was spraying out of the hose. The hotel also doesn’t have an option for breakfast or any food meaning you have to go elsewhere.

Hotel was down the road from Littledean Jail. Room was comfortable and clean with good facilities and fabulous views. They don't offer breakfast or evening meals at the moment but there is a pub practically next door. Fabulous and interesting building with a very nice and friendly owner.
Check in time of 3pm. They don't provide hair dryers - my fault I should have checked and after the owner explained why, don't blame them.

I have stayed at Littledean on numerous occasions and it never fails to please. Sanjay always remembers me and gives a warm welcome. Very clean as always, and room supplies (tea, coffee, sugar, water, toiletries and toilet roll) are all replenished daily. Cosy bar area with log fires. Adequate car parking spaces.
The room was a little cool due to low temperatures outside ~ heating appeared to be turned off.

Friendly staff. Beautiful views from outside patio/garden. Lovely old building with character. Great acoustic music in the evening. A few places nearby to eat.
We stayed in room 8 which would be a bit tricky for older persons as when you open the heavy fire door to the room you have steep steps immediately down. As 60's we struggled whilst carrying our luggage down into the room.
