The room was excellent. At the price we paid, I was prepared for something a bit tired and dated. However, it was in good condition and up to date, and I can't think of anything that failed to meet our expectations in that regard. It was on the smaller side, which is no issue if you're out and about in the day, and completely on par for what you'd expect for the price. Certainly cosy as opposed to cramped. The hotelier was an absolutely lovely woman, eager to ensure the best stay for her guests. The breakfast was great, especially considering that it was included in a price that would have been competitive for the room alone. If we return to the area we would certainly stay here again.
When we arrived, there weren't any parking spaces available, but I believe some did free up later. However, there are plenty of places within a minute walk where you can park on the road without issue. We'd had a long drive so arriving in a full car park was a bit frustrating but not something to be upset about for more than a few seconds. A bit of information about alternate parking locations on the booking site could help reassure future guests that they're not likely going to have to go on long search to find parking nearby if the car park is full.

The Swan is all round fabulous. Chris and her team go the extra mile to make sure everyone is catered for. They are very professional and so friendly that you feel like family. Everywhere is spotless. The food is amazing and cooked to perfection. The choice on the menu is excellent even offering the main menu at lunchtime as well as sandwiches so some of us had a starter for lunch which made a lovely change. The beds were really comfortable and our room 6 was very big with a huge bed. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay again .

Comfortable room, no desk but no problem for 1 night. Seperate bathroom, don't forget your key during the night. Bathroom roomy enough for shower, shave etc. There is a hand sink in the room Didn't have dinner but breakfast freshly cooked, very tasty. Hotel is situated in the centre of Lydney close to restaurants, take aways and supermarkets. Very quiet night despite being on the high street. Will stay there again
Bathroom on other side of corridor, must remember your door key if you use it.

Lovely room exceptionally clean. Bed, shower, toilet. Good breakfast lots of choice. Good car park at the back, free.
There was an electrical round thing on the ceiling. Probably something to do with a fire alarm. It had a light which in the night was focused on the bed by the pillow. I explained to the staff that maybe the bed or alarm could be moved. It was stopping me sleep as I like a dark room. The staff member said she would speak to the management.

Look, it’s not the Ritz, but we also didn’t pay for the ritz, What the swan lacks in Glam it makes up for with the team. Such friendly staff, they will go out of their way to make sure you have the best time, The food is excellent, both Dinner and Breakfast highly recommended.
The showers should do with an upgrade, but they work. I suggest provide irons that are newer and without damage, ideally per room, although I didn’t use the communal one i fear it would have wrecked my shirts. BUT.. I know now this has been mentioned this will be different when you go, because this is the way it is run. Very customer focused. Lovely place to stay. Nothing was too much trouble.

Fabulous breakfast (in particular the scrambled eggs!) The staff were lovely and there was ample car parking space. The location was good for the wedding we were attending. The bathroom was very clean and there was plenty of hot water though no power shower.
I don't think this pub deserves four stars but it is good value for money. The noise from the traffic was unbearable and it was non stop. We felt we were right on top of the road! It was so hot but we had to close the small window because of the traffic noise and there was no air conditioning (I had to go to a local shop to buy a fan). The sheets and towels were a dark grey - I much prefer white. The bulbs in the bedside lamps were very bright. There was no full length mirror in either the bedroom or the pub and we were going to a wedding and would have liked to have checked how we looked.

All of the staff are lovely, And could have not been more helpful for me 😀 The food was also great 👍 A big thank you to the wonderful Staff 🥰
My room was great 👍 But my bed was uncomfortable and didn't get a very good sleep 😴 😪 But when I got to the hotel, I had a bad back, so that didn't help. I didn't tell anyone about the uncomfortable bed, as my bad back didn't help the situation. But I had another 3 nights in another hotel, on my journey home, and my back improved rapidly in a comfortable bed. But I will definitely go back to The Ship Hotel, Lydney Gloucestershire again 😀

The staff are all very lovely, friendly and helpful 😊 All very kind to me. A great location for me, for town buses. 👌 The Shower was excellent, And the breakfast was a great selection and all very, very nice 👌 Plus I had Sunday lunch, main meal and dessert. Great helpings of both, and excellent food quality. Plus the staff went above and beyond. Hopefully I will return some time soon 🙏 A great big thank You 😘xx
I'm sorry to say that my bed wasn't very uncomfortable 😕 Sadly, I also had a bad back 😪 And uncomfortable bed didn't help. But I didn't complain to the staff, So didn't give them chance to make a change.

Very friendly staff always very helpful and caring. Room compact but beds very comfortable, bathroom good and excellent shower. Off street car parking behind the hotel.
Not the fault of the hotel but limited things to do in Lydney, very few restaurants within walking distance. Being an old property the stairs to the rooms would be difficult for guests with mobility issues.

Staff were very accommodating and friendly throughout the whole stay. Definitely made to feel welcome and as if one were staying at another's home. Heating was efficient and kept me warm overnight. Breakfast, which was included in the nightly rate, was quite extravagant and filling. I had a full English breakfast with a pot of tea and a pitcher of orange juice. I could've probably packed what I didn't eat for a lunch takeaway!
Could've done with a small desk/table, although the room's size didn't allow for it. (This may just be a personal preference.) The outside street, which my room overlooked, was quite busy overnight, which made for a slightly disruptive sleep, but besides that, I slept well.
