Easy to find location by the motorway junction - and very handy for Bristol too. Excellent early check-in. Large clean room, good shower and comfortable bed. Breakfast - full cooked + cereal and pastries, excellent. And the Marco restaurant was fine too. Maybe expensive for some but the fixed price two course menu for £19.95 was good value. Plus nice bar - with friendly and efficient staff all round. Would recommend and will stay again should we venture this way.

Convenient location just off motorway, easy to find. Free car parking and plenty of space. Comfy bed. Overall good value.

Breakfast. - reasonable hot and cold selection but single price regardless of choice. Should also offer a lower price for those wanting continental only. Noise levels in hotel corridors. Paper thin walls. Bar pricey.

Soundproofing wasn't so good as there were 2 connecting room doors, and so we were woken at 6am by people in the next room. The grounds and carpark could do with a bit of TLC as they are the first thing to be seen on arrival.

The layout of the reception,bar and restaurant areas. The size of our room and the fact that we had a bath. The breakfast was very good with a good selection of food. And finally very pleasant staff.

Faulty shower, cold water valve stuck and only very hot water coming out of the shower head. Some of the toiletries did not work. It would have been a nice touch to have some complimentary biscuits in our room. Poor lighting near dressing table. The breakfast whilst self service, would be better if tea and coffee were served by the waitress. Also, some breakfast items ran out and we had to ask for them to be replaced. ,

The bed was very comfortable and we couldn’t hear the Road so we slept well. The hotel was well located for slimbridge which is why we stayed there. We ate at the restaurant in the evening and enjoyed the food. We both had pizza and it wasn’t over priced. There was also a set price menu you could choose from. There was also plenty of parking spaces.

We were disappointed that there wasn’t any biscuits to have with our tea in the room upon arrival. This seemed mean for what we had paid to stay. Other hotels we have stayed in this year had a good selection. There was also no tablet of soap and the shower cream was fixed high up on the wall which made it awkward when I took a bath. I had to stand up soap myself all over and then lie back in the bath again. There was also an absence of hand and body lotion. Again this has always been provided in other establishments.

The breakfast was good, although I thought it was included in my original booking, but it wasn't so I had to pay separately for it. I've stayed many times at The Gables, and my one disappointment was when the restaurant was taken over by Marco's which I'm afraid I do not rate at all and no longer eat there.

The hotel was clean and tidy upon arrival, the staff were friendly, professional and very helpful. The room was an excellent size for the price and it was beautifully decorated and very well cleaned. The tea and coffee making facilities in the room were perfect. A wonderful hotel that I would definitely stay in again

No rear entrance from car park for keyholders, quite a walk round to front of building

I felt the menu was adequate for a la carte for short stay. The staff were excellent. I enjoyed the pizza but any relationship to Marco Pierre White should be dropped as it served no purpose as an advert for the food that was served.

It was cold at night and the quilt was thin, we couldn’t turn on the heating. There was a spare similar quilt which we found in a cupboard and used it. I have just had a knee replacement and had the daunting task of taking a heavy suitcase upstairs and down again from our allocated room. I didn’t, make a fuss as the accomodation was hard to get for a reunion I was attending travelling from Australia. Than you

Staff were brilliant. Even though there were only a few staff on hand they managed everything so well and were always polite and cheerful when they were really up against it.

Rooms were very hot but they did provide a fan. Double bed was on the small side. A standard double room wouldn't accommodate 2 fuller sized adults.
