We had a lovely 1 night stay at the Ragged Cot. The staff were friendly and professional, nice room with toasty heating, very comfortable bed and a fantastic waterfall shower. We reserved a table for dinner which we both thoroughly enjoyed, they've got a great Chef in the kitchen. The convenience of strolling to the comfort of our room after a satisfying meal was genuine bliss. To top it off the included breakfast was delicious too. We were expecting something fairly basic but got a hearty full English and eggs Benedict which kept us going for most of the day!
Whilst checking in it became apparent another guest was complaining about a noisy room and asking to be moved. We think our allocated room may have also been shuffled whilst trying to keep the peace. By the evening our heavy-footed neighbours upstairs had arrived, we soon realised some very squeaky floorboards were separating us and not much else! Unfortunately the noise did disturb our sleep a bit, but what can you do? It's an old building and the hosts don't have much control over the gentility of their guests. But beware, the walls and ceilings are thin.

The location was beautiful and accommodation was everything you would expect from a country pub. The rooms were clean, bed comfortable and food exceptional.
We unfortunately stayed during a heatwave (35c on day or arrival), and our room was unbearably hot. It was honestly hotter inside than it was outside. The fan provided was awful and provided no relief whatsoever. I understand we can not control the effects of the weather, but investing in better quality fans would have made the entire experience a lot more pleasant. I think I slept for about two hours because it was too hot in the room and wanted to leave as soon as possible in the morning just to get some air. The pipes ran underneath our room, so it felt like we had underfloor heating on constantly, which just added to the whole sauna experience. Having said all of that, I would definitely stay again...Just not in a heatwave!

Hotel room was spacious and bed was extremely comfortable. Staff in the hotel and restaurant where brilliant and very welcoming. The food was also fantastic and loved sitting in the terrace to eat breakfast whilst the weather was gorgeous. The location is brilliant and is within a 15 minute drive of supermarkets. Also plenty of free parking space which a lot of hotels don't offer nowadays.
Room became extremely stuffy in the hot weather and with there being no air conditioning, it become difficult to sleep. Shower also kept flooding so every time I showered, I had to reduce the pressure coming out to prevent it flooding.

This place is a great base for exploring the surrounding area, with some lovely places to visit nearby such as Nailsworth, Tetbury and Stroud. This is our second stay at the Ragged Cot, the staff are always welcoming and polite and the accomodation is exceptional value for money. Food in the restaurant is excellent along with a good range of drinks to choose from at the bar. Weekdays have a discount on meals and there were two for one cocktails from eleven until seven in the evening. Happy days! All in all I would thoroughly recommend a stay at the Ragged Cot.
Nothing not to like. Really great place to stay.

Great accommodation, friendly staff, great evening meal, wonderful breakfast, one of the best cooked breakfast I've had, excellent sausage! Good supply of tea & coffee in the room & nice shower gel and body lotion. And a lovely comfy bed & decent towels which smelt lovely & fresh.
Minor annoyance of the floor above creaking but luckily didn't go on for long, grouting on the shower floor could do with a little bleach treatment.

Excellent value for money, great breakfast, friendly staff, delicious food
No one at reception when we arrived. We had to ask for someone to come to reception. It didn’t take too long. It seemed chaotic at the time with furniture being moved around. Maybe we came at the wrong time but there should always be someone manning reception. Our main courses took over an hour to come. The staff were serving a big group and we didn’t have any choice but to wait. They gave us some peanuts for free but they should have taken service off the bill. Delicious food but small portions so we felt relatively expensive.

Well situated for the common and near to Minchinhampton by car. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Bed was comfortable and good size shower.
The paint work was a bit shabby, which made it feel a little tatty. Better quality of toiletries would be nice. We had a front bedroom so you could hear road traffic, but it wasn’t a problem later into the night as the road was quiet but a bit noisy in the morning However, it wouldn’t put us off staying there again.

The staff were extremely nice especially Lazlo as we initially had a couple of problems with our room which he sorted out immediately with a lot of enthusiasm. Our room was a big lovely room which we were told might have some road noise during the night which there was. We were offered another room but decided to buy some ear plugs which did help. The breakfasts were good until the last morning when it just didn’t seem to happen the same. It was a shame as our friends had stayed 1 night to celebrate my 70th birthday with us. We enjoyed a beautiful meal the night before in the restaurant so the breakfast was a disappointment. Again the staff were more than apologetic.
When we arrived the room was very cold and couldn’t get the radiator to work. A heater was brought into our room which was good. The wash basin had not been cleaned properly but was put right. Small things but initial impression was not great. The road noise was a problem on our first night. We think it was heavy traffic from an event in Cirencester. It wasn’t so bad the rest of our stay.

The Ragged Cot is a beautiful pub/hotel, the garden and setting was lovely. The rooms were a good size, modern and comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and the food was delicious, as was breakfast the next morning. But what really stood out was the friendly and helpful staff. We were a group of 12 celebrating an 80th birthday and we were so well looked after.
The only small thing was the rooms were very warm at night even with windows open.

The food and staff were great. Very friendly and helpful. It had a nice ambience. Would definitely stay again.
Our room was fairly small and on the ground floor. The large window we were unable to open during a heatwave as it was stuck. Maintenance looked at it, managed to open it fully but the window lock was broken therefore still couldn’t fully open at night. Making it rather warm and claustraphobic. This was our only complaint.
