The room was large. The shower power was excellent. Everything was very tidy. The bed was the best nights sleep away from home we have had. Extremely comfortable. The stay was also one of our quietist. We normally stay at Premier Inns, Travel Lodge or Holiday Inn. This was further out in the country, a little further to drive but well worth the effort.

Nothing to fault at all. There are ongoing decorating improvements going on, which is lovely to see they are striving to keep things up to date. Hard on a large beautiful property, well also running as an open business. Our 5th time to Bristol in 2 years. We want to aim to come here in future. Felt safe and secure. The parking was excellent. No fighting for a space. All staff we encountered were delightful.

Lovely setting for a hotel. It was a comfortable stop off on our way to Cornwall. Fairly large room and we could take our dog. They provided a welcome pack for the dog which was a nice touch.

The hotel room was a little dated and in need of a refresh but that was reflected in the price of the room. A frustration, not just with this hotel but many that we stay at is that despite stating dog friendly we are unable to eat in the restaurant areas but instead are relegated to the bar and lounge areas which are not geared up for people to eat a meal. This is more being dog tolerant than dog friendly.

The gentleman on reception who checked us in was lovely, unfortunately I didnt catch his name, very helpful, kind and a credit to the hotel. Also the lovely lady on the bar (Thursday evening) is fantastic, nothing was too much trouble, she was very efficient, welcoming and a pleasure to be around, *I believe shes moving on in her career, which is a shame as she's worth her weight in gold The upgraded room was beautiful, the decor and the building itself was stunning 😍

The bed was too firm, but I understand that's personal preference, also the rooms could do with air con, there was a fan put it just circulated the warm air

I booked room with garden view for anniversary and my stay was lovely. Room was really bright and king size bed was great as well. Very beautiful wallpaper in the room adds charm to our stay! Tasty and hot breakfast and charming restaurant, we sat by the largest window overlooking the garden. Really quiet hotel so if you looking for a quiet weekend with your partner this is the right place

The bathroom is questionable, old equipment and the water that hardly flows from the tap is the only thing that upset us. We had to put a little more effort than necessary to open the tap and the water pressure is very poor.

Beautiful grounds and building. Lily, on reception, her professionalism, understanding, and accommodating were exceptional 👏

Your plumbing system needs updating. Room 501 toilet system kept on running (filling up. It's not overflowing) for 45 mins after each flush. Giving you sleep disturbance. Change room to ground floor. The shower diverter was not working, so I had to step in the bath full of water. Took 15 minutes to get the correct temperature as it was running very 🔥 hot. This scalding water could be detrimental to the young or elderly

Location amazing for our wedding, breakfast nice although we had to keep waiting for extras as we had a lot of people staying. Our wedding venue was great and most of the staff were lovely.

The bedrooms were clean and spacious but the bed and pillows a bit firm for my liking. Could do with a bit of TLC in places but liked the character of the building. Had one problem with bar staff on the evening do being rude to a member of my wedding party, and a but of lack in communication regarding the remainder of our wedding cake being thrown away after we told them we would like to keep it!

Beautiful setting in a lovely old country house. Liked that it’s dog friendly. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast.

We liked the fact that the property is dog friendly however we decided to eat at the property in the evening but as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant we had to eat in the bar or the drawing room which in itself is ok. However there are no proper tables to sit at and we had to eat our food on a very low bar table sat in lounge chairs. This was the same for breakfast which we had in the drawing room but this was ok. Dinner was more difficult. Maybe a couple of proper tables could be provided for those with dogs.

I was apprehensive after reading earlier reviews - however, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the rooms are dated and need a refresh but this is a beautiful old building not a modern 5* hotel. The setting is stunning, the staff are a delight, the level of dog friendliness is amazing and the breakfast outstanding and most definitely not cold. All in all the perfect pit stop en route home from Cornwall.

The location was perfect. Lovely and quiet. Great for parking. We had booked a table in the restaurant before our arrival, and the 3-course meal we had was delicious. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well. The fan in the bathroom worked well and the mirror didn't mist up. We went for a walk before breakfast, which was very pleasant. The breakfast room was delightful and had a great layout of food on offer. The cooked breakfast was probably one of the best that I've ever had in a hotel. We'd stay again if we're down here.

Our room was OK. However, it could do with being updated and refreshed as it was a little 'tired'. The lighting wasn't brilliant. The bathroom was again a little tired and needed some TLC. The shower was a bit tricky to operate as the temperature gauge wasn't great. The water was coming out of both the tap and shower head simultaneously but at different temperatures!

We attended a friend's wedding here yesterday and what a beautiful day was had by all! The grounds are amazing, the food outstanding and while other reviewers have stated the rooms are dated, this didn't bother us in the slightest. Yes they are a little dated, but they were clean, comfortable and functional. All the facilities were good. Big mention to all the staff - they were so helpful and friendly, they couldn't do enough. So yes, if I'm ever in the area again, I would stay here 🙂
