Most of the staff were amazing especially Michael on the reception desk and the lovely lady who served us our breakfast. The hotel was a little old fashioned and we ran out of toilet paper and there wasn't a hair dryer in the room but the house keepers were most attentive and sorted it out quickly. Breakfast was really lovely and well cooked although the kettle broke and there weren't any glasses or coffee cups!!! It was a bit Fawlty Towers at times but we enjoyed the charm and quaintness of the place. You could order food in and eat it in the bar area which was great as we arrived late and didn't feel like going out again. Beds were super comfortable.
The lady in the bar on Saturday was a bit grumpy and closed the bar at 10pm! Felt a bit conscious that the neighbours could see into our bedroom!

Great hotel in a lovely location, exactly what you pay for, a nice clean room with a double bed and bathroom. Not the style you'd probably have in your own home but if you can look past a colour scheme you're golden. the bed is comfy and the staff are excellent so what more can you ask for! Can't review the food as I didn't try anything but the stuff provided in the room like tea, coffee were nice and the kettle was very clean.
TV was very small and old so couldn't connect my phone or use netflix on it, I didn't need it anyways so wasn't a concern. Not sure if this is the case in every room of course.

The room was a good size. It was clean and good for the money. Breakfast was good and nice to be able to get food in the restaurant and a nice bar. Staff very friendly
The pillow was a bit flat and only one each. And the bed was comfortable but the mattress was a bit springy. I’m sure if I had asked for another pillow I would have been given one but we were only booked for the one night. The room was noisy with I’m guessing an air can box outside the window would have been okay if we had shut the window but it was a hot night. Still slept quite well though

The room was very spacious. It had a sunken bath which was really nice. The staff was really friendly and helpful when we could find a member of staff. We had breakfast and evening meal on both days and it was excellent could not fault it at all.
When arriving we found that someone (possibly a member of staff) had parked in the disabled bay at the front of the hotel without displaying a blue badge, which meant that we had to park further away which made it difficult to open doors wide which is what is needed and the distance to the ramp was further.

Decor, yes, it is "outdate," but I love it. Old fashion but clean and smells nice. The linen is very white and soft. The location so many twist and turns but, it's wales. They always have hidden great places. The shower and bath my fave. The room they gave me, I can see my car. I don't have pictures, but I did my review in my youtube channel. https://www.youtube.com/live/aBH56bYh6Qc?si=BuT9vTU75Q3_WSa0
Nothing. However, I was told the rooms by the kitchen is obviously noisy. Locals told me the hotel serve good food.

Very clean and easy to find. Great receptionist who was really helpful! Got us food as we arrived at 8pm, even though kitchen was closing, really friendly, room was comfy and clean, just needs a little updating maybe, as a little old fashioned
Just the decor in the bathroom, the bath panel was a bit old and needed replacing, maybe some basic toiletries would be great like moisturiser 🧴

Plenty car parking space. Quick check in with friendly staff. Large room with alot of space to move around. Large bathroom with his & hers wash basins. Lovely warm shower. Bed a bit soft so interrupted sleep during the night. Ok breakfast on first day although poached eggs well overcooked, like eating boiled eggs on toast.
On late return, around 11.30pm, keycard didn't work. Two attempts by porter and door still locked. He went back and reassigned card as it had been set for 24 hours and should have been 48 hours; we booked for two nights. Maybe reception staff need to reset cards for duration of stay once booking starts. At breakfast next morning we were told no breakfast as room didn't come with breakfast. Not true and quickly sorted out. Boiled eggs on toast again. Maybe cook needs to practise how to poach eggs. Hint, 3 minutes should do it. Location of hotel is around a 25 minute walk to town. Ok going, downhill. Coming back more like 30 minutes and all uphill. Maybe take a taxi if you have difficulty walking.

We were a party of 10 old friends who were on an annual trip to discover more of the UK and decided to base ourselves on Merthyr this year for 3 nights. We found the hotel pleasant, friendly and well appointed. The staff were exceptional in dealing with us all and with a couple of very minor glitches such as a dead remote control; they looked after us all very competently and cheerfully. The hotel is in a quiet area, with ample parking. Rooms were very good, especially at the price. The dining room served a variety of excellent meals with veggie and other options. The carvery is epic. Bar is spacious which allowed us to enjoy our company as a group in comfort. [This was fortunate as there are few alternatives within easy reach.] Overall, we all enjoyed ourselves there and would come back again.
Really, nit-picking here: the key cards were a nuisance and went wrong a few times. Staff dealt well with this.

We only stayed 1 night as a stop over on route to somewhere else. Very welcoming and friendly staff. We arrived as the restaurant was closing but they were happy to provide a meal and the portion was huge and very tasty. Free car parking with plenty of space, lovely view of the town and the surrounding countryside. On the morning of leaving, the receptionist provided me with local information.
The only negative were the creaky floorboards. When the guests in the next room walked across their room, i could hear their footsteps, and it made me conscious of walking around our room and disturbing anyone.

Very helpful and cheerful staff members . Excellent value for money . May need a bit of updating but Everett v was lovely and clean and perfect for my needs . Would recommend . Had a full English Breakfast was excellent.
Noise from the kitchen fan is bearable but only with the windows shut . Unfortunately this was not ideal as the room was quite warm and I could have done with being able to have it open .
