Glenthorne is a wonderful property and we very much enjoyed our stay there. The room included a well-equipped kitchenette (including a fridge with freezer compartment, oven, microwave, washing machine and hob) and a good en-suite. Fixtures and fittings were to a high standard and the bed was very comfortable indeed. A little stack of Welsh cakes waiting for us upon arrival was a nice touch. The building itself is very welcoming and the hands-off approach of the friendly hosts works well - we bumped into them on the stairs a couple of times but that was it. Some hosts can be a bit overbearing, so this was a welcome change. Wi-Fi was good for smartphone browsing. We didn't try anything more demanding such as streaming. The property is at the entrance to a quiet road. There was a little noise from the main road just up the way, but not enough to disturb our stay. The property is a bit of a walk (up a steep hill) from the town centre so we always drove, but parking in town is abundant, as are EV chargers.
As other reviewers have mentioned, parking is a bit of a challenge. The property doesn't have any dedicated guest parking (though loading and unloading on the driveway is permitted and helpful), so visitors must try to find a space on one of the local residential roads, which are often already oversubscribed. That said, we always managed to find parking within a minute's walk

Big living room and lots of space to our selves, good value for money. Clean and tidy, lovely location and easy to find. I did really like the vibrant green in our room, I found inviting and gives the vibes of a good mood. We had everything we need and Clare is friendly and responsive. I find it a bit unfortunate we only stayed one night and next time I think we would book our whole weekend at this location
The walls were quite thin, while we were sleeping the couple in the room next to us were talking at gone 11pm and I think I led there for 20+ minutes listening to them keeping me up, the stairs are also super squeaky so you can hear when anyone comes up

Very light, clean and beautiful when I walked in - there was even a tray for your outdoor shoes. Bed was extremely comfortable and the room was very tastefully decorated, with a welcome couple of Welsh cakes. There was shampoo and shower gel available in the ensuite. Fresh milk was available in a small fridge, which was very handy for other snacks I had bought for a hike.
1. Parking was very tricky. There is no parking onsite or nearby. All surrounding roads were full of cars on all 3 days I was there. I had to park 10 minute walk away each day - it’s not the end of the world, just inconvenient. 2. I assumed that the room would have been serviced and the teacups washed whilst I was out the next day, but this wasn’t the case. 3. There was only the option to watch BBC news or Cbeebies on TV. A chance to relax and watch something on tv after a long hike would have been good.

Loved everything. Lovely hosts, secure bike storage that is only opened by the owners, clean and bright room with a little kitchen that made all the difference to my week long stay. Loved the fact that the mugs were big enough to hold a proper cup of tea, various different lighting options in the room including a little lamp that was almost like candlelight, shower was great, everything was thought of from a sewing kit and a book in the drawer, all the kitchen things you might need like a whisk, cheese grater etc, and a pint of milk in the fridge and delicious biscuits on arrival. Looking forward to returning next month!

The guesthouse is on the corner of a quiet street. Before our arrival we received instruction about the check-in. It was easy without any problem. We were upgraded to a studio with kitchen. It was elegantly furnished and well-equipped. The bed was comfortable. On our arrival day we received milk, water and Welsh cookies.
Parking is a bit tricky as you usually cannot find parking spots nearby. We could always park in Vulcan street during our stay. The shower head holder needs some repair.

The accommodation had practical and thoughtful touches not found in most places. eg a non slip mat for the shower and earplugs. Claire is a perfect host, friendly and chatty but not intrusive. I loved that she was proud of her home town and I would highly recommend Glenthorne and hope to stay again. Bus stops are just a few steps away with a frequent service into town. Superb!!
Nothing I didn't like.

My husband and I travel a lot across the UK, always within a similar budget. After staying at the Studios at Glenthorne, we both agreed that it was the best room we’ve ever had the pleasure of staying in. Not only was the room very cozy and stylishly decorated, but the attention to detail was simply incredible. There was even a steam iron and sewing kit in the room! On top of that, there was coffee, tea, delicious scones, and water and milk in the fridge. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, so we felt like at home. We were truly impressed 😊 The guest house is within 15 minutes walk from very nice pubs and restaurants.

Perfect find for a weekend exploring Bannau Brycheiniog. The hosts were welcoming and advised about parking prior to arrival (easy on road parking) which wasn't a problem at all. I stayed in a downstairs room with small kitchen and bathroom which had everything I could need. Oven, hob, fridge (with milk!) Microwave and all cooking equipment. This room wouldn't suit a couple easily too. Everything was really clean, well presented. Very happy stay.

Clean, and well equipped kitchen studio. Good shower with instant hot water. Well located for Brecon Beacon. Host Claire was very responsive and helpful, while leaving ample space for guests to get on. On road parking wasn’t an issue. The town itself wasn’t very interesting but the property made it worth it - for easy access to walks etc north.
Sound proof might need some work. We often hear other guests talking and using facilities, which is not normally a big problem but the guest next door got up at 5am every morning and woke us up during the stay. The room door also banged loudly when other doors (and front door) closed - there maybe a quick fix available.

Claire was so friendly and approachable from the moment I arrived and she also gave me privacy during my stay (the property is family owned). I had everything I needed in my studio including an excellent kitchen space. The location is really accessible to the Pen y Fan hiking route and very central to a lot of great driving/motorbike routes. This was also great value for money and couldn’t have asked for a better place. Definitely lucked out
