The staff were all very welcoming and helpful. The room was thoughtfully furnished and a good size for a night or two stay and the bed was comfortable. The shower was great, with much better water pressure than at home! The building was quaint. We had dinner one evening and that was very good and reasonably priced. Breakfast was in the room, with pastries, fruit and porridge pots and yoghurts and juice in a small fridge.

The wi-fi was quite flaky but we understand that's being fixed shortly. The room and bathroom were very clean in terms of the work the cleaner had done, but there were scuff marks on the wallpaper which made it look a bit scruffy. The running of the pub has recently been taken over by new tenants who are aware of the little details that require attention and have it all in hand.

What a gem of a place. The staff were superb, welcoming on arrival, the locals equally great, this is a real community hub in the making. The beers were great on arrival and the foot menu was just a celebration of pub classics. The room was perfect for a one night stay, great facilities. The evening meal was absolutely delicious, along with finishing off with sticky toffee pudding. Great nights sleep and then it was off again on the South Downs Way. The breakfast provided was plentiful, not freshly cooked but we were aware and had porridge, yogurt, fruit and snacks. If you're travelling the South Downs Way, the Blue Bell at Cocking is a must for a stay over, it will only get better.

Even not getting a cooked breakfast did not spoil the stay.

Everything! All the staff encountered were welcoming, friendly and helpful. Boyd and Mike in particular were keen to ensure guests enjoyed their stay. The Blue Bell is ideally situated. The room was comfortable and the Breakfast provided in the room, was varied and very generous and allowed walkers to get an early start if desired. The Dinner in the evening was excellent! The option of purchasing a packed lunch was also very useful for those walking and proved to be good value. Again the contents were extremely generous. Thank you for all your efforts!

We loved everything 💜 there is nothing that could have improved our stay, lovely touches on the rooms especially our breakfast. Bed was extremely comfortable, the atmosphere in the pub was great along with amazing homecooked food . We stayed for 4 nights for Glorious Goodwood and we will certainly be back. Boys, you were the best hosts ever and made us feel so welcome , so we can't thank you enough for your top class hospitality and can't wait to see you again Lesley and Shaun

The staff at the blue bell were very welcoming and friendly despite being rushed off their feet on 'pie night'. The room was pleasant and nicely decorated, the bathroom was fine- a good shower, and the evening meal was lovely. A convenient stop off on the south downs way and extremely well located for regular buses to Chichester and midhurst. There is also a small shop in the pub if you prefer to have a more substantial breakfast. They will also prepare a packed lunch for you.

The staff were really friendly and helpful, especially Alice and the young chap (not sure of his name). Our room was small but perfectly functional and the bed and sheets were probably some of the cosiest and most comfortable I have slept in for a while (which I was very grateful for given the amount of bike riding I had done and was super tired!) - need to find out what the linen/pillows were from as so soft! Room had everything we needed. Good breakfast!

A bit noisy at night when we went to bed as the customers downstairs could be heard easily so a bit of a disturbed sleep until closing (we had an early start and so went to bed early).

Good food, nice ambiance and staff were very welcoming. Enjoyed a drink in the garden before retiring to a nice room.

We booked a triple room for 3 adults but room was very small and third bed (it wasn’t there ready) would have taken all the floor space and you would have had to stand on extra bed to reach bathroom in the night! However, staff were very accommodating and kindly moved us to 2 spare double rooms at no extra charge. Problem swiftly solved for us but we would only consider that room suitable for a child with parents. Absolutely nothing else to fault.

I just stayed for one night as I was visiting a friend. Ideal, very reasonably priced stopover that provided all I needed. Super friendly jolly staff who allowed me to book in early. The idea of a simple breakfast in the room really suited me as I wanted to hit the road early for my long journey home to the Southwest on a Friday.

Nothing not to like about this pub.

- advertised that breakfast was included but it was yogurt and fruit in rooms with a pastry. Would expect cooked breakfast at a b&b

Enjoyed our stay at the Blue Bell, we had a very warm reception and we were very lucky that despite pre-advised staff shortages, a sandwich lunch was able to be offered which was gratefully received. The room was a good size with working amenities, such as TV, coffee/tea making. Bathroom was clean and everything worked as expected. Good breakfast in the morning and very kindly our bags were looked after whilst we went out for the day.

This is purely personal, I found the bed to be on the soft side,
