The room was at the top. We could see the beach, sea & Torquey from our room window. It was a compact room with a double wooden bed. The bed was comfortable. The room had an on suite bathroom. The beach themed decor was a really nice touch to the room. We didn’t have room service. Bryan knocked on the Friday afternoon and asked if we needed anything we just took a few essentials. The Guesthouse was in a quiet cul-du-sac. The high street was less than 5 minutes up the road from the Guesthouse. There was a lot of places to eat. The beach , promenade and funfair was a 5 minute walk from the Guesthouse. There was hotels, pubs and shops on the sea front. There was a Vue cinema on the sea front too. On Saturday we got a taxi to a church in Torquay.It cost nearly £20 because the traffic was very busy. We got the bus back which cost us £2 each. The last day we went on The steam train ride which was 5 minute walk from the Guesthouse. My husband forgot to take his medication from the room. Janet kindly picked them up & put them in a paper bag for him. We went to see the Lionesses match at the Spinning Wheel & left the suitcase at the Guesthouse. Breakfast was delicious and plenty of it. If we needed more we could have had more food. It set us up for the day. My husband especially liked the baked beans.

The room was bright with the sun teaming in through the curtains in the morning. The room could do with some blackout blinds or curtains.

Breakfast excellent in terms of quantity and quality…..one of us is vegan and this was catered for without any fuss. Janet and Brian are perfect hosts….nothing is too much trouble for them,and everything is done with a smile….a very thoughtful,considerate couple.When we brought back takeaway meals,they were happy for us to use the dining room,provided plates and cutlery,and disposed of leftovers and containers for us. The guesthouse is opposite a large park,where there are ducks and swans on a lake,a play park for children,and enclosed skateboarding areas….perfect if guests have children.The location is excellent…..a cul-de-sac,with private forecourt for parking.You don’t ever need to use your car if you don’t want to,as public transport is close by,with tickets available for a variety of daily outings.Children would be delighted to have a beach and play facilities so close by.A large variety of restaurants and takeaways caters for every palate. We found the people of Paignton to be very friendly and welcoming,wherever we went,and the local seagull population fascinating and respectful of their human neighbours! It was a joy to wake up in the morning to their morning chorus and that of a variety of other feathered residents,and to then tuck in to such a satisfying breakfast.😀😀

Very friendly hosts, room was spotless and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing, Janet and Bryan were really helpful. Location was spot on, short distance from beach and town centre, would definitely stay there again and would highly recommend to anyone

exceptional stay at the merriedale, nothing but praise Central location to everything. A+ breakfast. brain and Janet the owners couldn't do enough for all the guests. wouldn't hesitate to recommend the merriedale guest house to anyone. Will definitely be returning.

Clean, comfortable room and beds. Massive ensuite! Everything provided for a few days away. Great breakfast with plenty of choice. Fabulous location 5 mins walk to beach, bars and shops. Friendly , professional couple.Nothing too much trouble. Thank you Bryan and Janet. 😃

Nothing to dislike!!

We had a comfortable stay at Merriedale. Our room had everything we could ask for. Bryan, owner, was very approachable and explained to us about all of the amenities at Merriedale upon our arrival. We were within walking distance of the sea front and shops. Lots of coffee places and restaurants nearby. Our stay was very relaxing.

I was allowed to drop my bags early and pick them up late on days of arrival and departure. Brian was super friendly and helpful and cooked a lovely large breakfast. The whole house is clean and pleasant and very convenient for town and the beach.

it was awesome clean it was next to everything the host were very friendly gave great information of the area always on hand breakfast was was perfect cant wait to come back amazing two days thanks alot for everything

location was fab..excellent breakfast…clean and tidy. Bryan & Janet were lovely and more than happy to help with any questions!

only slight downside was the tiny tv..not a problem for many but I had to stand in front of the screen to be able to read the TV guide.
