The staff were lovely and so was the food

Why did they get rid of the sofas. The lounge was uncomfortable and unwelcoming

The location and the room with a fabulous view. The staff were friendly.

The breakfast was not well presented and the produce was poor e.g sausages. The staff seemed over worked and it was apparent at times.more were required to cope.

The room was very good with an uninterrupted sea view. Well equipped, well appointed and good size. The breakfast was very good and the staff were obliging, professional and friendly.

My room, although supposedly the best in the hotel was on the first floor directly over the lounge. On the second night, a live band performed, very loudly until 10.30 p.m. It made sleep impossible. Future guests, be aware.

The Palace hotel has an excellent beachfront location near the Paignton Pier, comfortable family rooms, beautiful gardens and outdoor seating and also sauna, steam, indoor swimming pool, fitness area. The grand building gives off a feeling of old character and calm, really beautiful surroundings. The restaurant and the bar terrace are very well presented with variety of food choices and drinks. If you want to surf the waves at Paignton beach or just stroll down the seaside promenade, this is your place. The town centre and Preston sands beach is also within walking distance. The whole Torbay area is with amazing coastline and beautiful nature!

The timings for the breakfast and the dinner meals could be a bit more flexible with extended hours.

Breakfast buffet was excellent with everything you could want. The friendly staff tried hard to keep everything stocked. The set dinner menu was reasonable and the food excellent. We especially liked the new sizzling menu. We slept well on comfy beds. We enjoyed the swimming pool and bubble pool, the steam room and sauna which were all clean and booking and towels were well organised. Sitting in the gardens was peaceful too, and it was a short walk across the green to the beach and pier. Well situated hotel for all the local action and for touring the area.

While it feels very swish, there are obviously a lot of tired aspects to the place. While our room was spacious and faced the sea, there was a constant smell like body odour. It seemed to be coming from the elderly bed-settee mainly, which was uncomfortable to sit on. Complaining we were given sprays to help (they were obviously not surprised) but this effect didn't last long. It tarnished a very enjoyable stay. While most of the evening entertainment was good, the songs were for the majority demographic mostly ages 70 to 80s, so not really suitable for us and there was no notification when a magician attended afterwards, which we would have enjoyed.

Relaxed atmosphere, good sized car park, Hotel is on the sea front , but also close to the town centre. Restaurant evening meal and breakfast excellent. lovely comfortable double bed, but a bit big for size of room!

The room was too hot and was unable to regulate the heat. didn’t like having to book a slot to swim, on a holiday you don’t want to be tied to time!

All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially Paul and the lady he worked alongside at breakfast. The breakfast selection was good and there's lovely seating outside the bar area. There was a live singer every evening in the bar. We used the indoor swimming pool one evening which was nice. The room was reasonable and comfortable and serviced every day. The hotel is located close to the pier and a short distance from the beach.

The rooms aren't well insulated so you could hear everything going on in the corridor especially as we were on the ground floor and we could hear the live music in our room at night which wasn't really an issue as it finished by 11pm.

The staff here are very nice. The room was a good size with a lovely sea and pier view from the window nice to sit in the chair with a drink and enjoy the view as i did on my 3 nights stay the room was clean and tidy and the bed and pillows were nice and comfy . The bathroom was a good size and with a nice shower bath . The hotel had a pool which i enjoyed on one of my days just too cool off and relax . There was also a good size car park for guests to use . The only thing missing from the room was a small fridge but that is personal preference . overall i had a lovely and relaxing stay .

The window would go up a fair way but it would only stay open a few inches from the bottom would of been good if you could keep open the window at different hights as it would of been nice to sit looking out of a open window as it was lovely weather but this is personal preference . Also the second window wouldent open .

Great location with lovely views. Good comfy rooms with sea views & ample parking. The stand out gem about this hotel was the wonderful staff. Not only were they all very friendly & professional but they all seemed to go that extra mile, for example walking an elderly guest back to her room after the bar to make sure she got back ok. Their team work was incredibly impressive & on more than one occasion we witnessed staff members who were off-shift jump behind the bar to help out a colleague or relive somebody so they could take a break. They really did pull together as one & it was clear they all enjoyed working there together. Rare to see these days & made such a difference to our stay.
