Good facilities in dog friendly room. Staff all very friendly and couldn't do enough for us..apart from the 'manager' on checkout who was quite officious. Although having to eat in the bar area due to the dog(fair enough), the menu and service were just as good and the same as the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent. There is plenty of garden space outside the room to exercise dog..
BED was a little tired and uncomfortable. Unfortunately, the room was very close to the kitchen, which had a radio blaring out the majority of the time, and a large extractor fan was very noisy, also could hear some of the language in the kitchen Again, I spoke to the 'manager' when we checked out about this..who didn't really seem to care.. Also, if you are a hotel in Stilton, with a large display selling Stilton cheese.. then surely it's a good idea to have a bit of product knowledge..the 'manager' on checkout did not have a clue!

This is such a beautiful property, maintained to a very high standard and a number of original features preserved. Room was beautifully presented, very clean and had all the amenities you would need, including a small booklet on the history of the Inn and the location, which was a great touch. Bed & pillows were very comfortable, I had an amazing sleep! The staff were absolutely amazing and couldn’t do enough for you, the restaurant was great, I arrived on a Sunday and had the roast chicken dinner and it was delicious; breakfast was also 10/10, one of the best ‘hotel’ breakfasts I’ve ever had.
My only very small gripe was that the lock on my room (room 30) was very difficult to unlock/open!

We were very impressed with the Bell Inn and the newly redecorated rooms were done beautifully. We loved the furnishing fabrics! The individual seating areas with a fire were cosy, intimate and we spent quite a lot of time using them. Despite how busy it was, the staff were always friendly and helpful and we had a lovely relaxing weekend, thank you. We will definitely recommend the Bell Inn to our friends.
The only confusion when we arrived at The Bell arose because the Reception is not where it is indicated to be (ie. it is written engraved in the glass above the archway) but in the building opposite! Paper temporary instructions were seldom seen so we met several guests with heavy cases looking lost!

Room was nicely appointed, with all the little extras - bottled water, glasses with caps on for the bottled water, lights that worked, radio playing classic fm on arrival (of which I heartily approve) - little welcome note from housekeeping. Dinner was very good. Didn't have breakfast, so can't comment. Courtyard area really pleasant for pre dinner drinks. The young person who booked us in and served us dinner was very nice and helpful. One night, no breakfast was a good deal, suited our purposes for brunch in Peterborough later in the morning.
Room on the small side and a little dated - same goes for bathroom. Parking tight and not much of it. Dinner good but expensive, especially the drinks. Room was across the courtyard and up steep stairs, can't be helped with an old building but just be prepared (though I think we could have had help with our luggage).

We had a very pleasant stay at this property. As we were traveling with our daughter, we opted for a family room, which was well designed and included a small private section for her bed. This thoughtful layout provided both comfort and a sense of privacy, making it ideal for families. The room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. The bathroom was particularly spacious, with a nice shower. We also booked breakfast for the following morning and were very satisfied with the quality. The food was fresh, well-prepared, and offered a good variety of options. The staff were consistently polite, professional, and attentive, contributing greatly to the overall positive experience. All in all, this hotel offered excellent accommodation, good facilities, and warm, reliable service. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to return when visiting the Peterborough area.

There was an unreasonable delay in taking our selection for dinner, but this was dealt with professionally and we were impressed overall. I didn’t like the heavy dependence on emails when making the booking and when booking in. There were no changes in our final booking and constant emails to check fine points should be dealt with on check-in. Especially, it is NOT reasonable to attaché to the final email the need for me to tick a box to say I have READ and APPROVE of all your terms and conditions. When I first make the booking - maybe. But NOT on a final (and unnecessary) email when I am engaged in some unrelated activity.

I've done a Google review. Basically everything was excellent. We loved the atmosphere, the character, the food and drink. The room. Bed comfy. large TV. great ensuite. The breakfast was amazing. I think the photo of the breakfast on the website doesn't do it justice. It shows 1 of everything when you get 2! A huge breakfast with all the extras in a super breakfast area. I adore these old inns. The bell is apparently 15th century . AMAZING! The price was very fair too. Staff were very friendly. Particularly breakfast staff, as I remember. I hadn't had a drink in the morning, so my memory was probably better! I think all the staff were great. I'm looking forward to symtaying there again. You certainly won't be disappointed. It's a lovely area to stay. not far from many places of interest in the middle of England. Rutland waters for instance. My .um lived at Oakham which is a fabulous little town. We were saying at the Bell for a friend's wake, so could have been under happier circumstances, but they did the family of the bereaved proud. Events are another thing they do well
1 teeny thing. The. curtains in the room weren't quite long enough, and did let some of the early morning light in. I think we were in room 26? Staff can check under Martins name, and I'm sure the staff will have that sorted in no time.

The front of house lady was amazing, great customer service and attentative when dealing with noisy wedding guests on our arrival and realising we weren't happy. Courtyard area was lovely to sit and chat over drinks once we had finished our lovely meal. The room was comfortable and we had the four poster which was very comfy.
The shower cubicle was very cramped and dated and it had black mould growth. There was a very large bath, that I think people don't tend to want, so they could make better use of the space to create a more modern bathroom that would make the room we stayed in perfect.

A beautiful old coaching inn with lots of beams and old world charm The upstairs dining room used for breakfast is amazing. A superb loft ceiling which makes the area look stunning. Ideal for wedding receptions and private parties I imagine. My single room was very generous. Was delighted with the Nespresso coffee machine, PLUS a radio - love to have both in a hotel room. Lovely bathroom products. Enjoyed breakfast my first morning, although gave it a miss following day as not very hungry. I loved this hotel and would definitely stay there again if in that area.
Nothing to dislike

Beautifully appointed room in a very nice hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was very clean. They have a great little courtyard which is perfect for dining out in when the weather is good. All of our meals were excellent. The hotel is dog friendly which is great.
For a Superior Double Room, we thought that the room and especially the bathroom were a bit on the small side. On the second night the radio appeared to have been left on in the dining area, which was next to our room. Whilst it wasn't very loud, it was audible and did disturb our sleep.
