the breakfast was very good

the room was a total letdown , it was one of the smallest rooms i have ever stayed in , i have never seen such a small shower room and a room that had a sink in the room and not in the shower room absolutely no where to put any washing facilities . problems with the wall lights ,again very odd as the bulbs where dependent on being charged up . they where unable to offer us an alternative room , my husband is 6ft and barely got in the showeroom , imposible e to dry yourself in the shower room . the lounge area and dining room and bar made up a bit for the room , if it hadn,t been for the staff who where all very nice it would have been even more of a disappointment , definately not value for the money we paid

Loved the hotel public rooms, very stylish and comfortable. Loved the amazing food, they clearly have a great chef! Breakfast cooked to order, a fantastic Sunday lunch and a delicious evening meal. Faultless!All staff are so friendly and helpful, particularly the lovely Tori who was behind the bar most of the time we were there. She is an absolute delight, so friendly, chatty and an absolute asset to the hotel. Easy walk to both the beach and old Shanklin so a good location. Great heated outdoor pool and nice comfy seating outside. Lovely comfy bed and room clean. We also had a free-standing fan which we needed as it was really warm for the duration of our stay. There's car parking either at the side of the hotel or behind it. It's not what you call a conventional car park and there probably aren't enough spaces for the number of rooms they have, but there's on road parking in adjacent side streets. We stayed in August and always managed to get a space in the car park. As you can tell, we had a great stay and would go back.

Our bedroom, room 4, was a little small for a double but had most things you would need in a bedroom. The vanity sink is unusually in the bedroom rather than in the toilet/shower room but it's manageable. Shower took a while to heat up as in minutes but was a comfortable heat when it got there. We had a massive B&O TV which occupied a corner of the room. If that could have been wall mounted, it would have allowed a decent space for a dressing table which is one item of furniture that was missing from the room.

Has a pool and sauna. Lovely bar and restaurant. Rooms are being updated and this hotel will get better and better. Attention to detail in the restaurant and bar are excellent. Amazing art. Very boutique style. Will definitely recommend and stay again.

I found the shower pressure low, which I know they have added filter shower heads to each room and it was explained in the room information but if I’d have wanted to wash my hair which is fairly long and thick it would have taken far too long.

Staff and owners were very welcoming and friendly. New owners just taken over. Bar area newly refurbished to a very high standard. Owners on site serving customers and greeting them. Rooms were a little tired but very clean and comfy. New Owners well aware of this. Breakfast was lovely and the out door heated pool very nice added bonus for my daughter. Location was very good. We will definitely be returning soon.

My daughter cut her feet in a few places as did I on the bottom of the pool. Not a major issue as when speaking to the owner at the bar he said the pool is the next big project and was well aware the pool was old. Pool very clean and nice with lounge chairs around. You could clearly see they had recently painted the pool area. Please dont let this put anyone off was lovely to get back and have a dip in the pool and have a nice chilled beer.

We absolutely loved the Q Hotel, it’s family owned & quite rightly, they take pride in what they have, how they run it & how they communicate with their guests! The hotel itself is beautifully decorated, though it is still a work in progress, but that doesn’t take away how pleasant the public areas are. The breakfast restaurant is a lovely space & the breakfast food on offer is varied & delicious. We were very comfortable in the room we stayed in, plenty of space for clothing & personal items, the bed was really good, a super bathroom & plenty of white fluffy towels. The hotel is licensed & again it’s a very comfortable seating area at any time of the day, where you’re socialising, sitting quietly with a book or sipping a drink, it’s a very welcoming space. The swimming pool, sauna & patio all looked very clean & enticing, you simply let reception know you wish to use the facilities & grab a blue towel. There are ground floor rooms, but you need to ask for one when booking. Plus, if all of this wasn’t enough, it is also very dog friendly, the only place you can’t take them with you, is on the leisure patio around the pool. To get down to Shanklin beach, simply stroll down the road opposite the the hotel, turn left & it will bring you to the Cliff Lift (open from May to September) We & our dog Lucy really enjoyed our stay at the Q Hotel & will definitely stay again!

For personal preference only, I would have appreciated a chair in our room.

The hotel is definitely a bit quirky! I loved the style of the hotel, it’s a perfect base in walking distance of Shanklin Old Village and the beach and the staff are really incredibly friendly and nothing is too much trouble, I def recommend a stay here and I will be back at some point 😊

The bathroom is a bit dated but I’m talking with the owners, the hotel has undergone refurbishment since they’ve had it for the last couple of years. The bathrooms are next on their list, so not anything I didn’t like as they were perfectly functional and good to hear they will be updated soon.

Excellent location, could walk into the old village and get to seafront in a few minutes. Very dog friendly (although there is a charge for dog). Friendly owners and staff. Had gluten free options for breakfast and good breakfast in general. Parking at back of hotel or nearby street. Pool and hot tub a bonus. Good value for what we paid for a last minute break.

Room was comfy but a little cramped, as the layout was a bit odd (washbasin in one corner and shower/toilet basically a cupboard.) you can tell it was a hotel from a few decades ago. However the bed was big and our ground floor room overlooked pool area. The public areas are very quirky and fun plenty of sofas and a bar. We would go back.

Bed was very comfortable, recently done up bedrooms so felt fresh. Staff were great. Breakfast was made to order and cooked well. The lounge/bar area was very nice and very comfortable to spend time in. Location was brilliant, ample parking space. Short walk to the shops or the beach

It felt as if the whole building was recently renovated but the bathroom was forgotten about. I understand my bathroom was very small and it is difficult to fit everything in however it is strange to have a sink and a vanity mirror next to the bed. Also to still use off colour toilets/basins like it's still the 90s was a questionable choice.

Delicious breakfasts, good choice. Continental and full English available. Staff were very friendly and helpful, as were the owners. Nothing was too much trouble. Very welcoming of my dog, which other guests commented on. Very close to the sea front, and a good area of grass for the dog. A big park called The Mead is within walking distance. Not too much parking available on site, but parking available on all the roads nearby, and staff helped me with luggage to the car.

I have no complaints at all, and I look forward to returning to the hotel.

Friendly welcome and great that my elderly(94 year old) Mum was given a room on the ground floor. The rooms and public areas are tastefully decorated with some quirky version of traditional paintings- good fun! We were able to use the lounge area late evening to play cards- nice for my Mum! Breakfast was tasty. Beds very comfortable and rooms were quiet. When we discovered the big cliff lift in the town, this made access to the seafront much easier.

A few constraints from the old building made navigating around by my Mum (94, using two walking sticks) a bit challenging. Notably the high step into the front door, could there have been a little ramp? She managed, with assistance. Also a high step into her room. I realise this couldn't really be avoided. Parking was ok the first night but taken over by vans the second night.
