Characterful property with plenty of parking in the front of the property. Spacious public areas including a lovely west facing garden and conservatory as well as a sitting room in the front. Breakfast room was arranged as 2 large tables and was comfortable. Breakfast was good though if you didn’t want something cooked only cereal seemed to be available instead. My husband was made the most delicious omelette. In my opinion it was better even than the good full English breakfast! Rooms were well laid out and had nearly all facilities you’d need. Hosts were very friendly, helpful snd accommodating where possible. The property was very close to the beach lift and the town but it was still quiet and peaceful. Generous 11am checkout time.

Shower was a tad small but then all rooms are en suite so compromises are to be expected. Bed was comfortable though ours could have benefitted from a mattress topper as I could feel the side ridges of the mattress. But that’s a small thing. Our room was north facing and the slatted blind shutters exaggerated the lower level of light. We were there only 2 nights though and I sat in the garden when I could, which I like to do at home anyway, so it wasn’t a big issue. The quilt was a little over warm for the weather but that’s a hard thing to predict I realise especially when you’re near the sea.

Vera and Martin run a very charming bed and breakfast. This is an interesting building in itself. The location is excellent. There is ample parking. They have great recommendations. We really enjoyed our stay and when we visit the IoW again we will be back to Knightsrest. It’s very peaceful and quiet but a short walk to the old town, chine and charming seafront. We enjoyed meeting Frank the seagull. I’ve come home and wishing I had a friendly gull that knocked on their window for food. 18/10 breakfasts are good too.

Nothing. It was our style.

Vera and the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. They really made us feel at home and we were sad to leave at the end of our trip. The room was spacious and comfortable, with tea and coffee making facilities, and there were lots of other areas to sit and enjoy, the lounge area and garden in particular. There was lots of parking space, definitely a bonus in Shanklin and the location, for us, was good with the shops and restaurants of Old Shanklin about half a miles walk away. The B&B is located just at the top of the cliffs but is only a short distance away from the lift which will take you down to the beach, for those who don't want to, or can't, walk down. Although the B&B was fully booked for the entire week, it was extremely quiet and we didn't hear or see anyone else, other than at breakfast. The rooms are advertised as soundproofed and I would agree they really are. We had a fabulous week on the Isle of Wight and this B&B certainly played it's part in our enjoyment, we would highly recommend a stay here and will most definitely be visiting again.

As the weather was extremely hot we slept with the windows open. On the first morning we were rudely awakened by seagulls fighting just above our room, Vera had warned us that they could be noisy! They seemed to settle down for the rest of the week and didn't disturb us again. I guess all seaside towns will suffer at times with this problem!

It's a lovely old property in a quiet location but close to restaurants and the beach. It's really charming and the rooms are spotless. The owners are very friendly and they really want to make you feel at home. Vera helped us with booking the ferry as well even though it was a bit of a short notice. We enjoyed the sunroom and the garden, they are lovely. Breakfast is freshly cooked and served in a nice breakfast room. Our room was on the small side with the smallest en-suite but very clean and had everything you needed. Bed was really comfy and I'm fussy about beds. All in all we enjoyed our stay very much and we highly recommend it.

Towels were a bit scratchy. I find that when using fabric conditioner and a tumble dryer they get fluffier.

Cooked breakfast had good choices & was nicely cooked. There was a lovely garden room & pretty garden to relax in as well as the lounge, we didn't actually use the lounge. The bed was nice & comfy. Being able to put a couple of items in their fridge was very useful for us. Martin, the owner was very pleasant, chatty & gave advice on places to eat out. Lots of easy parking on the property, which is a bonus when in a town.

Unfortunately, Martin was there alone as Vera was away. He was working on phone & PC & I had to find him to say we were leaving, where he then asked if we needed to pay (I had paid in advance), hoped we had a good break & went back to working. I would have told the person on the phone to hold on, then got up & seen us out properly. It felt like we were less important.

The building is a beautifully kept old building that is so comfortable and welcoming. We loved the conservatory for relaxing in the afternoon. The rooms were super clean and comfortable. The highlight for us was the wonderful Vera who was just the perfect host. She was friendly, kind and went to every effort to make our stay perfect. From giving recommendations for restaurants to adjusting breakfast to our tastes we couldn’t have asked for more. We would stay here again without hesitation.

Absolutely nothing. It was perfect.

Vera and Martin were very good hosts. The breakfast was tasty and varied. It was nice chatting to fellow travellers whilst sitting at the breakfast benches. There were plenty of parking spaces at the front of the house. There was a lovely quiet garden at the back where we could sit.

The room was very small and better for one person. The bathroom was tiny with nowhere to put the soap after using the wash basin. It might be useful to fit a small shelf above it if possible.

The Knight's Rest is ideally located near pubs, restaurants, shops and the cliff lift to the beach. There's ample parking which can be an issue elsewhere. It's a lovely property. It's really charming and the rooms are comfy and spotless. The owners are lovely and friendly and go out of their way to make you feel at home. Breakfast is very tasty and there's a lounge, conservatory and pretty garden to enjoy. It's also extremely good value for the area.

The location is great, close to the beach, shops and the village, plenty and fresh cooked breakfast . The hosts Vera and Steve were great, they care about your stay and very helpful if you need anything, they were very kind. Very reasonable price, the bed was very comfortable, the room was not big but cosy and clean , very relaxed atmosphere, nice garden and exceptional and interesting Gothic Revival Victorian Architecture style of the building. A nice and good place in Shanklin, or on the Island to stay and explore . Shanklin is a beautiful coastal town, with many interesting places to visit, apart for its great beach and seafront attractions and pubs, the Old Village with their pretty thatched cottages, Pencil Cottage, Pink Cottage with its lovely Fairy Garden, Shanklin Chine and its hotel were Victorian couples used to spend their honeymoon, Fisherman Cottage , Rylstone Gardens, Big Mead pond , nice walk to Bonchurch, Devil Chimney, Wishing Seat and the waterfall on the beach on the way to Luccombe just to mention some.

Everything was fine. I couldnt find fault ,

Was more like moving into someones home for a few days than a b&b. Vera was so nice. It was so relaxed. Breakfast was lovely, staff couldn't be more helpful. Loved the king Arthur theme. Location was 5 to 10 minutes walk from shanklin beach and the Chine. We didn't come by car but parking in my experience was more than adequate. If you want a relaxed place to stay unlike a generic hotel highly recommend. great value for money
