Ideally situated along the cliff path right opposite the lift to the promenade, commanding spectacular views. Many rooms with patio or balconies. Outdoor seating areas & many facilities such as a lovely, stylish indoor pool, a large, well equipped games room, a playroom for younger children ( the latter 2 in areas that would not be noisesome to other guests) , a cafe for light snacks opening out onto terraced gardens and ample car parking, a large bar & entertainment area for live music . All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I just wished I'd booked a longer stay!

We arrived earlier than our check in time. We were able to leave our things in the lobby, so we have to take them with us, which was a great help. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Room was nice and spacious.

Other guests banging their room doors late at night when they returned and not respecting other guests. Parking wasn't great. Would have loved a sea view, unfortunately ours was overlooking the car park.

I love the big airy rooms, sea views and, as I travel alone (to visit friends on the island), I have come to know the staff well - they are all so very friendly and helpful wherever possible.

I was unable to book an evening meal some nights as there were insufficient guests staying for this to be viable. I was unaware of this before I came. Also initially chilly in my room as radiators were not on/working. Torrential rain meant I would have liked somewhere to dry clothes e.g in the bathroom or a drying area in the hotel. Small heater provided instead and I became warm enough for the rest of my stay. These issues won’t put me off coming down however!

I have stayed at this hotel many times and have seen it in a run down condition. However it is now under new ownership and management and has improved no end. The staff were very accommodating and the room was newly refurbished. There have been improvements made all round and I was pleasantly surprised. Well done to everyone at the Ocean View.

The breakfast was great, ice quality ingredients served by pleasant staff.

I can see they have made improvements over the years, the main hallways have been recarpeted, the curtains in the rooms replaced, new bathrooms that are modern and if a good standard. Some of it still feels a little tired though, the room doors and some of the woodwork needs replacing, the room carpet while clean was a little cheap looking.

Great location right on the cliff top with great views . Staff and food was very good. .A good indoor swimming pool.

No live music on Christmas Eve nor Boxing day. It would have been better if their were more guests there as only around 30 people with 100 rooms. So the place looked empty.

The staff at the hotel were exceptional, especially the lady from breakfast whose name I can't spell, but starts with R, she ran around covering the whole top area by herself and Andy from the bar, what a brilliant character he is, great for a laugh. The entertainment man was brilliant too, and made us laugh. The receptionists were polite and helpful, overall a great asset to your team.

Unfortunately I felt the room was a poor standard and you get better quality at Premier Inn. The noise from adjoining rooms can be heard, the walls are very thin, so if your neighbour snores you will need earplugs. There is also a million stairs and an extremely slow lift.

It was my birthday and they upgraded my room to a sea view room which was amazing. Games room weather was pretty awful on my actual birthday but spent happy time in games room playing pool. No one else in there. Went swimming in pool for first time in 6 yrs (since covid) had a wonderful time. Only me in pool.

I appreciate as only had 9 guests in total restaurant wasn't at full capacity but we had my birthday meal in hotel (lovely food) but was not even offered a glass of water with my meal.

I have stayed here many times in the past when visiting friends who live on the island. Because of poor reviews I was concerned it’s standard had fallen but I was delighted to find it was as good as ever! Lovely big airy rooms with wonderful sea views. Optional room servicing simply by putting a card on your door to say you want it. Fresh towels no problem and as much tea, coffee & milk as you wanted from reception. Nothing was too much trouble. Wonderful friendly staff. Love this place and can’t wait to go back either with friends or on my own. Thank you Ocean View. You don’t disappoint. Looking forward to the coffee shop being open as the views are fantastic from there.

Nothing. There are a lot of maintenance projects being tackled but staff ensure this doesn’t encroach on essential facilities, corridors etc. NO COMPLAINT!

Breakfasts were excellent and the staff in restaurants were ultra efficient

Swimming pool The showers in the changing room were unusable for small children (the thermostat was set far too high and was only just about bearable for adults. Also the swimming pool had tide marks around the sides,both these things could have been avoided with more pool/maintaince staff
