Where do I start. Number 1 is the staff. I have stayed in many hotels over the years and of all grades and I could count on one hand places that had such friendly helpful staff as here. Number 2 The breakfast was outstanding with a good choice and arrived at your table hot and fresh. Number 3 The location. Fall out of bed and you are on the beach and if you have children you are close to parks, a skate park, basket ball and football pitches. Walk for 10 minutes in the other direction and you are in town. on route to town the are countless restaurants for evening dining. We had a very pleasant stay and will definitely stay there again.

Not Much!

Lovely sized room with a very comfortable bed. The layout was well thought through. We enjoyed having a tea & coffee in bed, watching the sun rise over the sea/ amusements while watching the news on a morning. Perfect location for bars, restaurants, activities ect. Staff were really approachable and helpful.

The room temperature was extremely warm. We turned off the radiator in the room and kept the windows open all day and night, baring in mind this is November and we both woke up sweating with heat every morning. Very strange.

The management and staff were extremely helpful, friendly and professional. Even after a mixup, they made sure that our stay was perfect. We stayed in this hotel last year and you can see that they are trying to upgrade the rooms, which is really positive. We're looking forward to going back and seeing the next step of the improvements as the rooms are now lovely, just need the bathroom updating. Not through any faults, just purely cosmetic. The rest of the hotel is beautiful. The food was excellent, we had booked breakfast and had an evening meal as well, it was all delicious and served by friendly and professional staff. We would definitely stay again.

It's hard to criticise when you know the hotel is already making improvements. The hotel is beautiful in all areas except the bathroom in the room. It is perfectly functional and clean, just needs updating to keep in line with the improvements they have already done to the actual room. This would in no way stop us from returning as it is a very small critiscm.

Firstly , all of the staff were really friendly and welcoming. The room was spacious with a sea view and the bed was comfortable . There was a good choice for breakfast and everything was cooked nicely , the lady who worked in the dining room and served breakfast was lovely and chatty , in our opinion she was an asset to the hotel as was the chef .

The hotel has recently been refurbished , the staff and the drinks were fine but the bar area its self is soulless and seating uncomfortable . The bathroom in our room let the room down , with cracked tiles around the bath and the door needed painting properly to bring it up to a nicer standard .

the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable. I requested a walk in shower and it was in a very large sized bathroom in the annex part of the hotel. It was perfect for what we needed which was an hotel by the sea front to visit family. We were out during most of the days we were there, so didnt need anything more than what we got. The breakfasts were great and the staff were very polite and accomodating.

There was some work taking place whilst we were there but it was Easter break so nobody was working during the time we were there. Towels in the bathroom were not changed daily, (we were there a week), and the room wasnt swept daily. The weather was very wet at that time so we obviously had sandy muddy shoes almost daily. Once mentioned the floor was swept immediately.

Lovely reception staff ,very helpful ,good size room ,clean and comfortable The hotel is perfectly situated . Car park was included, which was great (,make sure you put your reg in at reception ) .it was 1st time in South Shields, and what a lovely seaside town and sea front. Very clean and tidy ,plenty of food places and beautiful beaches. We'll be back .

Nothing! Only the room was very warm, but 2 fans were in the room to keep the air in circulation . Couldn't keep the windows open in room 6 throughout the night because of the seagull and its chick ,but the fans did their job .

Exceptional customer service from Anna, all the staff made sure you felt at home, so friendly, accommodating, good selection of food, large portion sizes and I can't remember the waiters name, but again exceptional service. The rooms and place itself were so clean, even the cleaners were friendly and Jolly. There was a room to store our cycling bikes. A little complaint, of noise from the fair ground at 2am, which doesn't happen normally,

The staff were lovely. The room was fine. The hotel is undergoing maintenance work, so the room needed some paintwork finished. The location was perfect. Near the seaside and attractions.

Unfortunately, there is no lift, making it very difficult for me to carry my luggage upstairs. As a senior solo traveller, this was a challenge. I stayed four nights and whilst I understand that Easter is a busy time, the breakfasts weren't the best with some items being unavailable. A workman repairing floorboards using noisy electric tools in the dining area during breakfast time was perhaps not ideal, although the refurbishment is looking good.

Room was a good size , beds very comfortable , breakfast was very good , staff very friendly, Location was excellent as only a short walk to Ocean Road , where there are lots of restaurants to choice from , there is plenty of choice at reasonable prices . During the day, Colemans Chip shop on Ocean Rd is famous for their fish & chips, the batter is very light , it closes around 6pm, at lunch hour there is a queue out on to the street - you have been warned ! Easy walking distance from hotel to beach and all the amusement area for kids . Plenty of parking spaces too

I had booked a twin room , my friend & I are retired plus I am disabled , so it was a struggle for me to get up 2 flights of stairs. I was told twin rooms are on first floor which is a pity

Great hotel in perfect location. Shame the bar wasn't fully finished and open but sure it will be next time. Lady on check in was so friendly and welcoming, then again thisndame the following morning when served our breakfast. Room was clean and overlooked the park. Breakfast was superb, freshly cooked and extra toast given no problem. Car parking is secure overnight and free, as long as you put in reg at check in.

Have stayed here twice before and had no complaints. Only thing that let us down this time was how uncomfortable the bed was, we could literally feel the springs in the mattress.
