I normally stay in chain hotels, staying at the Prince Consort was a refreshing change. The bedrooms are in a different building away from the Pub so they are very quiet, and while on the subject of bedrooms they are clean and the beds are comfortable, and some thought was put into their layout. Food, full English breakfast is a simple repast cooked to order, but it's all change when it comes to lunch or dinner the variety of freshly cooked food on offer will suit everyone's pallet, they even do a specials menu in the evening as well, as the main menu so I suggest booking a table as it gets busy. All the staff are friendly, and willing to go that extra mile, nothing was to much trouble for them.

This is personal they only have teacups in the bedrooms, I like a mug of tea to start the day, but it's a hardship I can put up with

I only stayed on night as I used it to overnight for a cruise the next day from Southampton. It's close enough to Southampton with good public transport links, thereby missing all the craziness of the city. The location is great, only being a few yards from the foreshore and great local amenities. The accommodation block sits behind the main building and is secluded from the comings and goings from the bar and associated restaurant. The bar has a fine selection of ales on tap, and the food in the restaurant is first class. The staff are really friendly and attentive and the whole place was clean. Great value for money, and I have no problems recommending the Prince Consort.

Friendly and efficient staff, excellent pub grub for evening meal and good breakfast. Accommodation clean, bed comfortable, plenty of piping hot water in bathroom and good shower. Perfect for travelling with well behaved dogs, especially as the excellent Netley Abbey Park is less than a 2 minute walk away, where the dogs can have a good run off the lead. Dogs were permitted to sit with me whilst eating my evening meal and breakfast which was a real bonus too!

TV reception was poor - picture was badly distorted. Room was cold and damp on arrival as no heating was on. Several hours after turning heater on the room warmed but damp condensation ran down the walls.

The room, bathroom, as well as the bed were comfortable and clean. Staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our 2 day stay. The public house area was popular and lively, without being intrusive, or too loud. I was able to feel relaxed, and would have felt the same if I had been there on my own. Breakfast was value for money with decent choice of cereals/yoghurt and/or choice of nicely cooked, then served, hot meals. Check out time was 11am, which is useful if the day before has been 'full on'.

I would have liked a chair or stool to sit on, rather than the bed, once I had 'dressed up' to go out. The room probably didn't have room for a chair, but maybe a stool? The room was spacious enough to be comfortable to move about without getting in each other's way. I would be happy to go back and probably will, when I visit my family again.

Booked so I was more “ local” for the Netley Abbey parkrun - perfect spot for that …. and to visit Victoria Park itself (enjoyed the chapel visit) and to walk along to Netley Abbey ruins. So the Prince Consort is a great location- the staff I met were friendly & my room was very welcoming…. next time I’ll stop for the breakfast too!

Happy with all - if able to change anything ( & this is being picky) it would be not to have such a creaky staircase to my room ( I tried to tip toe so as not to wake anyone…..)

A lovely welcome when we arrived, Joe behind the bar booked us in and showed us our room which was at the back of the pub lovely and quiet. He even asked us did we have any luggage he could carry. Room was lovely and comfortable, nice to see a fan in the room as it was a hot day. Breakfast was lovely, cereal, yogurts, toast and a good selection on the breakfast menu. Again Joe was on duty who we found that nothing was to much trouble for him, well done. A busy pub but we managed to park. This is the second time we have stayed here.

Not good reception for TV. Only BBC channels

The breakfast was great…. It offered other than a full breakfast. The room was quite small and was 2 single beds but on the requested ground floor. The fire alarm went at 7am as someone was vaping in their room. The pub meal was great and exceeded our expectations as did the whole experience of staying at this quaint, out of town pub. The staff were helpful and friendly , well worth the opportunity of staying there.

Small accomodation.

Friendly reception. Room 5 very clean and bigger than expected Great food. We would stay again if in area

Kettle difficult to fill as too big to get under tap easily. Suggest smaller kettle or a plastic jug to use to fill kettle. Sitting up in bed head rests on picture as no headboard. A full length mirror would have been good. Unfortunately we didn't sleep well due to noisy guests above us walking about most of the night using the fillet

Excellent breakfast. A second cup of coffee was happily supplied ! Our beds were very comfortable. We were impressed with the beautiful restoration of the Victorian building. Our room was spotlessly clean. The rooms were in a separate quiet annex with a small garden area. The tea and coffee supplies were excellent including de caffeinated coffee. Bottled water was also supplied with delightful unusually shaped real glass glasses.

Our bathroom door was difficult to open ! Catch needs adjustment. Odd shaped room.

we have stayed here many times when visiting family as they live close by. Netley is a beautiful village with the Royal Victoria Country Park and seafront on the Hotel's doorstep. Also the food is lovely and we have had lots of family celebrations there too. Lovely English breakfast. We stayed 2 nights and the second day our room was re-freshed and the bed made. If you are wanting to stay because visiting Soutgampton then I would say it is further out and you would need a car. The village of Hamble is not too far away and worth a visit. The buses are quite infrequent but they do take you into the heart of Southampton. It is an all round lovely place.

The rooms are in a separate annexe at the back of the bar and restaurant.. For us it is not a problem but for some it could be especially if the weather was bad. It doesn't bother us as'it's just a minute walk along a path to the rooms. Obviously if yoh are not ising the bar/restaurant then its not an issue anyway. The rooms are very basic but had everything we needed i.e clean towels, shampoo and body wash, hairdryer, tea, biscuits, coffee, bottles of water and electric heating that we could control ourselves.
