lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. We had a huge room with views over the Marina and Sea. At first glance it had the wow factor but we soon realised that it lacks a good housekeeper to notice all the minor niggles, such as stuffing coke out of cushion, marks on walls, door handle loose on room door, door plate lock held on with black masking tape. Apart from these minor things we had a wonderful stay. To us a clean room with nice bedding and friendly staff and good food are most important and we give top marks to The Boat House for these. The only other problem we had was that we both have mobility issues and the lift would only take us up but it did not work to go down. Fortunately we were only on the first floor and managed. Despite the negative mentions we loved our stay here and would definitely come again and certainly recommend this hotel. If it had a good injection of cash and a little TLC it could become 5 star! Thank you for a pleasant 5 nights stay.

The location was perfect - lovely and quiet at night. No problem parking outside the hotel. Room was very comfortable, bathroom shower was very easy to use. Liked the dining areas particularly the balcony around the outside of the hotel overlooking the marina. We would definitely recommend and also would like to visit again.

Just a little blip as our key card didn't work but quickly resolved by staff who gave us an ordinary key. Unfortunately we then had to go back down flights of stairs to get another key card to put in the slot to make the electricity work. However, after this, everything was sorted. If I was being picky, I would say that there is a bit of decorating needed on the stairs walls.

Great location overlooking the marina, comfortable bed & powerful shower. We had a small balcony, which we used extensively during our two-night stay, as the weather was very kind to us. The food, both the continental breakfast, and our evening meals, taken overlooking the marina, were excellent.

The areas leading to our room were in need of some tlc,, particularly carpets and walls, handrails, etc. Whilst the pub menu was extensive, with excellent food, we thought the wines were generally overpriced, especially the Prosecco, for example. 'Front of house' could have been more welcoming, sadly

We spent 2 nights here between cruises. We didn't want to be in Southampton itself, so we opted for Hythe. So pleased we had. We had room 2 with a large balcony over looking marina. Room 1 would be a good option as well. Breakfast was included ( continental) was more than enough. Yogurt, cereal, fruit, toast, and pastries. A variety of juices plus tea and coffee. Staff are amazing, they work so hard to please all guests. Room was VERY roomy and clean. Yes, it could do with a bit TLC. Paint wall up stairways, waterblast deck. Clean windows. But overall we were very satisfied 😌 I would have given a 10/1]0 if it wasn't for lack of hot water in the shower. Basin water was excellent, but the shower was cold to very lukewarm. In saying that, NOT all rooms have this problem. At the time of booking though, there was a ferry running, but unfortunately it had stopped. So we got taxi from cruise terminal to accommodation 35 pounds each way. You could get the bus 3 pounds each way. But with luggage opted for taxi. Would recommend Boathouse Hotel to others, and the small township was fabulous. This was our very first time traveling to the UK.

Breakfast good. Location excellent. Parking good.

Bathroom needed some cleaning. Mastic black and mouldy around shower tray, sink had very large brown staining at plug hole, back of the toilet seat mastic was brown. Peeling paint by window in bedroom. Hall wall and stairs all needed a bit of TLC. Visited for 4 years and it’s a shame it’s not at the same standard as it was before. The evening we arrived there was no hot water and this continued in the morning. Although at around 10 am we were informed it had been rectified,we still didn’t have any. We did point out these issues on handing in our key and the staff were apologetic and said they would take our comments on board.

Lovely place to stay. Room was well equipped. The food was lovely. We dined in the restaurant on our first night and loved the food. The cooked breakfast (charged for separately) was delicious. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and chatty. I've already recommended it to family for when they next visit our extended family in the area. I'm looking forward to visiting during the summer when I hope to make more of the local area / nature walks etc, and might upgrade to a marina room with a balcony.

The only thing that let our stay down was that our shower didn't get hot. The water in the taps was hot, but I think the shower controller hadn't been fitted correctly, so we could only get tepid water out of the shower. We didn't notice until late on our first night and even after reporting it at breakfast, it sadly wasn't sorted, so we had two nights of tepid showers. It was a shame too, as the rest of the room and ensuite was great - with a massive shower. Wouldn't put me off staying again though - I'd just make sure it worked as soon as I got into the room.

Great location with lovely views over the Marina. really peaceful area and room was very spacious and comfortable with everything needed for our stay. restaurant food was very nice, continental breakfast included with room price. overall a great stay and would definitely return.

staff could of at times been slightly more attentive, upon check out we were not even asked if we had enjoyed our stay just a thanks when handing over of the key card. continental breakfast was included in the booking price but if you wanted a cooked option then you had to pay extra, for £144 a night room I felt that was abit unfair.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. The staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, always ensuring we had everything we needed. The premises were clean, cosy, and well-maintained, with a modern touch from a recent renovation. The manager was also very understanding and efficient in resolving any requests. A special mention for their accessibility—my wife uses a wheelchair, and they made sure we had the appropriate room, which was greatly appreciated. Their attention to detail and hospitality made our stay truly enjoyable. We will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this hotel to others!

Was a lovely hotel, very clean, great views and friendly staff.

Lovely hotel but to use the lift you need a member of staff, we went out that evening on arrival the bar had shut around 9pm which it states in the guest book it shuts at llpm and I could not access the lift even after ringing the assistance bell there was no answer and I had to struggle up the stairs. We booked the disabled room, the room was perfect but the love seat on the balcony is a hazard went to sit on it and the seats are loose and coming apart and also some loose decking, other than that I highly recommend.

The staff were fantastic, nothing was too much trouble. The location was amazing; quiet but the marina had plenty of boats and pathways to look around. The rooms were spacious - some very much so. They were well decorated and had plenty of storage. Meals were easy to book and well presented. A variety to choose from: pub style burgers, salads and some more restaurant style .All were reasonably priced.

Nothing was bad. However, there were a few minor irritants. The showers were warm, but only just. There was a broken blind in one room and the curtain rail in another dipped badly in the middle. In another room, there was a small amount of mould around the window, which also had quite a bit of condensation. None of this was upsetting, just took the shine off the accomodation.
