It was a perfect location for what we went for . The hotel is very beautiful ancient , but Morden . The food at restaurant was very good , and the gluten free options were fabulous to the delight of my husband . Most of the we go away many of the places we stay have only limited gluten free options , and some don’t even have any , so we will definitely go back there again when we are in the area . There fig and goat cheese starter is something to go back for ! It was delicious . The breakfast was also delicious . Staff were very friendly as well .

We chose The Harvard Inn as we were travelling back to Manchester from the Eurotunnel. We also chose it due to the Gluten Free choices they showed on their menu (My wife has been recently diagnosed with Celiac). I did speak with the Harvard prior to booking and spoke with Tracey who answered all our questions in an open and honest manner about the menu. I have to say our subsequent stay was brilliant. The staff are genuinely caring and very welcoming. Nothing was to much trouble. The room was lovely and had everything we needed. All the restaurant staff did everything they could to make my wife's Dinner excellent and just perfect for her and of course myself. The portions are great and the food was excellent. i have to say it was a real treat for my wife.(We have found a lot of premises promise a lot on a Gluten free menus but when we get there they often fall very short of the mark)The breakfast choices were also brilliant for us both. All the staff were great and very attentive. My wife had a great breakfast so much so the staff got her the address for the local bakery where they get their bread from. When we left we went straight to the bakery and bought 3 large loaves which was such another treat for her. Thank you to everyone at the Harvard Inn. Everything was excellent. If we could we would score you much higher than a 10 out of 10. We do travel down the A1M / M11 regularly and will definitely stay again . It was without doubt the kindness, knowledge, attentiveness and the food that made this a stand out stay for us both. Thank You to you all at the Harvard Inn'

We had a standard double room in the main hotel. It was modern, clean and comfortable, and with an attractive modern shower room. Plenty of parking close by on site. Breakfast was adequate with a small buffet choice and good cooked options to order. Perfectly decent.

Very hot room (although it was unusually warm late June weather) even so we couldn't open the window more than a fraction due to "health and safety" considerations. Fan in room helped but really not ideal. Hotel charged extra for cappuccino or any other "machine coffee" at breakfast!

Breakfast was excellent but no avocados so unable to fulfil my initial choice. However the food we received was freshly cooked , hot and very good. The service at breakfast was excellent: friendly and efficient.

Whilst the bed was very large it was 2 singles pushed together and you could feel the gap in the middle. The size of the bed made the room feel very small. Luckily we didn't need to spend too much time in the room as watching television had to be done laying on the bed. The distance of the nearest plug socket meant you could not see into a mirror whilst using the hair dryer. The shower room was fine but an extra shelf to put makeup/ toiletries on would be useful.

Good location. Stock is where beautiful, historic Essex begins. Not as noisy as had expected. Excellent team of staff prepared and able to deal with any niggles. Breakfast very good but where is the black pudding which many guests apparently wish to order?

Designed for the under 50s. More thought could be given to Boomers. Based on my experience of hundreds of hotels in more than 75 countries my suggestions would be - a grab rail in the shower, somewhere to put soap in the shower, fewer cushions (when the ratio of cushions to chairs in a room is four to one then something needs adjusting), a case stand (apparently available in some rooms). Our room (number 2) was adequate but the smallest so the above remarks should be taken in this context. If we were staying again, I would try and book the superior room number 8 where the very interesting Tudor window is located ( not in room 6 as stated in the brochure).

Gorgeous room and brilliant location. Check in/out was extremely easy & quick. The attached pub/restaurant was great - good selection of food and wine and the quality was great. I stayed for dinner as well as having the included breakfast, which was also excellent. Surprised I didn't hear any noise from the restaurant after going to my room approx 8pm (and it was packed when I left) I was actually disappointed I was staying there for work and couldn't stay longer!

The only downside was my room was incredibly hot. The towel rail in the bathroom was pumping out heat constantly and there didn't seem to be a way to turn it down (that could be me being daft). I didn't report as it was 1 night and didn't want to cause a hassle considering the rest was so brilliant.

Breakfast was good (plenty of tea/ coffee and good selection of breakfast fare). The 'cooked' (rather than, say, 'Continental') options were particularly acceptable. Dinner was excellent. There was plenty of choice and whatever choice was made resulted in a splendid meal. Moreover, service was very friendly. The room was more than adequate and 'did the job'.

The hotel is in the heart of the village and is close to a very busy (and therefore, often noisy) road. There is little that the hotel can do about this, of course.

Lovely inn. When I checked in the host apologised for being rushed because they were short staffed - but honestly if he hadn't mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed - the staff were attentive and served our table without appearing rushed or harried. The food is wonderful - the menu has been written to use local produce and the they are obviously proud of their business and take the task of make their guests happy and comfort seriously. The rooms are all finished and furnished to a very high standard. The breakfast is served in the inn - a good range of freshly cooked breakfasts, as well as continental/cereals options. I had no idea what this property was like when i booked - i needed something in the area. It completely exceeded my expectations in all areas. Finally, there's plenty of parking at the rear of the property.

The room was well presented with a large bathroom. Breakfast was very good. Nice bar area. Parking was right outside the room. This establishment is very well presented and makes a very pleasant stay. All the staff were helpful and pleasant.

The room was very hot (too hot) 29 degrees according to the room stat. Despite attempts to reduce it by adjusting the thermostat to 14 it never went below 26 with the windows and door open. It was cooler outside. At night with the door and windows closed (ground floor) the stand fan made it just bearable. A small fridge would have been beneficial to keep drinks cold. The bathroom mirror over the sink needed a light.

Room was small but warm smelled nice and had tea ,coffee milk and kettle ,on ground floor and accessible, the shower worked well towels were clean Breakfast included , full English was really good, Evening meals and Sunday lunch excellent

A bit noisy from neighbouring rooms and room above ,carpet in room had messy spots and a burn mark imprint of an iron,and no USB plugs in sockets The pub closed early 9pm Sundsys and food service stopped at 6pm on Sundays
