The staff are amazingly polite and helpful. My room and bathroom was spacious and had a fantastic large shower. Spotless comfy bed. Quiet location and I slept well. There are more positives than negatives
Accommodation, food and drink was a little on the pricey side. Meals were very well cooked but small and I'm not a big eater. While the hotel is lovely booking .com demand to hear my negatives. Decor is maybe a decade or 2 outdated. Could do with more lighting in my room just because I had work to do, but I find this to be the case wherever I go.

It’s a lovely building. We used disabled parking and noticed there was a designated entrance for disabled guests, if required. We were offered help with our luggage. All the staff were lovely and helpful. The breakfast was amazing. Loads of choice. Best we have seen in a long time. (Would suggest a napkin is provided to hold fresh uncut bread for slicing)
Our room seemed to be above the kitchen, there was a constant banging and resonating sound from what must have been a swing door to the kitchen, going on until about 11.30 at night. Noise from other guests was a problem. Shouting good night at 2.30 a.m, after a night out was not something to be enjoyed although not the hotel’s fault. No glasses in the room for a drink of water at the side of the bed. We did not want to use our already utilised coffee mugs.

Staff all lovely (except one!) Good value for money Room clean and comfortable Shower nice and plenty of hot water
Room was very hot but I didn’t want to sleep with the window open, as a single female traveller they’d put me on the ground floor for some reason. The breakfast waiter was a bit grumpy and unhelpful (I asked for a table for 5 and he said they didn’t have any and walked away leaving me to make up my own table!)

My husband & I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Ivy Hill. The breakfast was lovely. Our first morning we had it cooked to order then Sunday morning a buffet style which was also very good. What made the hotel even better were the members of staff who went above & beyond. A certain young lad called Louis at breakfast time was excellent. Plus the lovely man (I think his name was Shaun or Shane) who was the night porter, was fantastic from serving drinks til 1.30am & keeping the bar clean & tidy & letting us know a lot of information about the area. You could tell he really enjoyed his job & took it very seriously about keeping the people who were staying at the hotel very safe whilst we were sleeping at night. Both of these people I would highly recommend for the employee of the month! I would definitely stay here again in the future.
Nothing to dislike!

Venue was beautiful and everything was well kept, all of the staff were amazing and very accommodating for us on the night and at our dinner we had booked! Couldn’t be more happy with the above and beyond service they provided! Bed, mattress, pillows, duct and sheets was probably the best of anywhere I’ve stayed, slept better than ever! Couldn’t be happier with our stay, many thanks for having us.
The toilet seat in our room definitely needs securing properly! This is very minor, but couldn’t fault anything else.

Firstly, this was a very important stay! It was mine and my future husband’s Wedding Weekend. We arrived at the Best Western Ivy-Hill Hotel and we’re immediately greeted by smiley and welcoming Lauren who began taking our details for checking in. We had booked the Honeymoon Suite as it was to be our Wedding the following day at nearby Newland Hall, Roxwell. The warm, friendly and massively accommodating Libby (the Hotel’s Manager) was around the corner and came out to welcome us and wish us well for our upcoming weekend. Straight away we were at ease. The staff from here onwards were just perfection. Caring, approachable, efficient and attentive. Nothing was too much and every request was dealt with with no bother. We had a meal for 11 in the glorious BARTELLAS Restaurant that evening. The wonderful host, LORNA couldn do enough for us. But by no means was she intrusive or encroaching on our meal. She was accommodating, fun and full of life and I can 100% say that she made our evening! Of course the food was scrumptious, but without Lorna’s treatment, it wouldn’t have been the evening we had! The morning of our big day we chose to have a few drinks outside in the glorious sunshine, and again, Libby was there to add another finishing touch in the was of a few complimentary nibbles. The wedding was just perfect, and we returned, along with over 30 of our friends and family who were also staying at the Ivy-Hill and the night porter kept us going serving us in the bar until we’ll after the time we expected to bar would close!! The breakfasts were out of this world! I couldn’t fault a thing. And they also had oat milk for our coffee (which isn’t always the case at many hotels!) The room was stunning! Decadent in its decor and romantic, we absolutely loved it! It was the PERFECT stay for our Wedding Weekend!
Nothing!!!

Cannot fault the hotel although we only stayed one night as we were in Chelmsford for a funeral, the hotel was perfect close to the city. We often visit Braintree which requires an overnight stop in a Premier Inn (convenient to our friend who lives nearby.) In our future visits we think it will be worthwhile traveling extra distance to Ivy Hills Hotel for its extra excellent comfort and lovely breakfast which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We could not find any negative things to report

The hotel had beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel, and each member of staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. The room was clean and had most things you'd need for a stay. We arrived early and left our luggage with reception. On our return, the luggage had already been placed in the room.
Would have loved a fridge in the room. We were visiting a music festival in the nearby park. We asked reception how far the walk would be we advised around 40 mins. Just a suggestion if people ask I'd definitely let them know just after the hotel their is No walkway and it was incredibly dangerous. Advise people to grab a taxi and not to walk.

Lovely welcome and a nice comfortable bed and spacious room. Excellent restaurant and service. Good parking and easy to get to. Exceptional breakfast and staff went "above and beyond" to cater to special requests,
A bigger selection of tea in the room and remote needed new batteries (reception promised to replace).

Hot breakfast very nice and continental very good My major moan is that there could have been hot Vegan alternative as my partner only option was to have cold cereal
Waiting time for hot breakfast was a bit chaotic and the waiter/waitress had to ask when they came out with the orders who it belonged to. Maybe a ticket system could be considered
