Generous sized room, lovely grounds, food was great. Staff were good. A pleasant stay.

Even though a three star hotel, for the price I was still expecting some basics like a fridge and night gowns, instead one towel (no smaller towel for hair). I suppose one of it's draws is the spa which we didn't get a chance to use, to fully review or get full benefit of what we had paid for. We unfortunately were staying on a Sunday so were limited to when we could use the spa as subject to public opening times, no extended access for being a guest of the hotel which wasn't explicit on booking.com site and different to other spa hotels. Breakfast should be available a little longer, and misadvertised on booking.com as something I check when planning a stay away for leisurely lie ins.

A beautiful property. Bedroom was clean and spacious, with everything you would need and a comfortable bed. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, and the facilities were great - we used the leisure centre on arrival, and it was lovely. Breakfast was good - standard buffet fayre with hot and continental options, and the food at dinner was delicious - very high quality. Overall, a really lovely place to stay!

The only downsides were the emergency light in the bedroom giving out a bright glow all night long, which did disturb our sleep a little, and the room being quite hot with no way to control the temperature and no ability to open a window. We did find a fan in the wardrobe, which helped a little, but it was a bit uncomfortable. An extractor fan in the bathroom/ability to open the bathroom window would also have been nice.

Access to the neighbouring leisure facilities to relax in the pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. Breakfast was excellent with choice of buffet or selected cooked items from a menu. Food for dinner and lunch was also excellent. Room was spacious and made it comfortable for a week long stay where we could work, relax and sleep. Staff were always willing to help and the ability to refill water bottles with filtered water was a bonus and set us up for a day out.

Limited timed access to the leisure facilities, particularly for children. Wifi was weak in the room we stayed in (however with plenty of data on my mobile this was not a big issue for us). Unable to use HDMI ports on the TVs in the room to be able to connect a laptop or tablet to for watching things like Netflix or Disney+.

I found the wording for the rooms very misleading. I booked an outside room thinking it had been downstairs and outside because I’ve mobility issues myself and my daughter and when I got there and realised we had to climb up two flights of stairs I was absolutely mortified we did it. It Wasn’t ideal, and when I asked about it, I was told inside rooms haven’t got any windows. I’ve got a skylight and outside rooms I’ve got windows this to me didn’t make much sense as I’d thought outside would’ve been outside of the main building ground floor so I think for further misunderstandings with people, you should word it as it is.

The hotel is situated in its own grounds and is very quiet given its location, the staff were very friendly and professional. Our room was large and comfortable with a nice en-suite. The breakfast was as good as you would expect with plenty of variety, we ate in the restaurant on our first evening and enjoyed the meal and ambiance. We would thoroughly recommend Pontlands Park Hotel to anyone wanting to stay in the area.

There were a couple of technical issues in our room, the safe didn’t work and the position of it would be very difficult for a lot of people to use. The light in the wardrobe was intermittent. As we stopped for just two nights it wasn’t a problem we felt needed raising.

The room was spacious and clean, most importantly the location is very quiet meaning that you can get a decent night's sleep. We had dinner at the hotel along with some friends, unfortunately the group suffer multiple allergies and intolerances, Helda (the restaurant/bar manager?), took control of our ordering checking each order with the kitchen and even ensuring that a new batter was made up for my wife who wanted fish. It was an immense relief to deal with a team who understood the importance of allergies which led to a relaxed enjoyable meal. The food was better than expected for a hotel and in my books rated as good. Breakfast was freshly cooked and again rated good, the coffee was a bit cool but you can't expect perfection. Having tried many hotels in the area we will book again.

Fans in the room would have been a welcome addition, otherwise no major complaints.

We loved our welcome from your receptionist! Efficient, fast and so informative! We loved the treated glass in our windows so we could leave our curtains open for the lovely light evening and people could not see in. We loved the indoor and outdoor pools and hot tubs in the leisure facility! This was like being on holiday in Europe ... sun loungers and drinks at 5 pm on a summers evening. Being able to have an open air swim and nip back to your room for a shower without having to drive anywhere was a dream. We loved the relaxed feeling of the hotel. We liked the quiet notices outside the rooms asking for quiet late at night and in the mornings We loved the beds in our twin room We loved the fan provided and a full ironing board and iron We loved that we were able to get an ice bucket, chilled milk for our tea and fresh water delivered to our room within 20 minutes of arriving We loved the staff in the restaurant and the great and attentive service in the garden outdoor eating area We are staying on Monday nights for work for the next 4 weeks and just cant wait!! Nothing. We would be nit picking to find something and as we are staying for the next 4 weeks no doubt things might unfold but as of week 1 of a 5 week stay we are very happy!

The hotel was excellent, the staff friends, the rooms comfortable, the food and service of top greade

I have two issues. To have a shower you had to get into the bath, which was very tall to actually get in, for a person of my age was actually dangerous. You could add hand/grab rails to non tap end wall or back wall to help with safety. I did not feel comfortable gettting in and out. Secondly the toilet flush I am guessing has been reduced however this is a false saving as i had to be flushed several times to clear solid matter. Perhaps look into a double flush with options of reduced flush for liquids and secondty flush for solids.

Have stayed at Pontlands many times over the years and always have a fantastic stay. Is a lovely place at Christmas and staff are always polite.

Only one issue this time. We went down for lunch in the bar area which we enjoy. But there was a group of people sitting around a large table with laptops trying to sell some kind of investment to people over the phone. You could hear all the conversations and the hard sale going on which did spoil the atmosphere.

Fantastic hotel. We love staying here. The facilities are great and the people are really friendly and helpful. It is most definitely one of our favourite places to stay in a lovely location and we always feel relaxed as soon as we arrive. Can definitely recommend the pool and outdoor jacuzzi. Easily reached from the A12 but is set in lovely countryside and is very peaceful and relaxing. It’s also just a 2.5k walk into Chelmsford.
