The food was superb. The selection of ales was to my liking. The room was lovely and clean and the bed was extremely comfortable. Staff were very welcoming and friendly. The location was serene and picturesque.

It was disappointingly not to have a shower in the room, we missed this facility greatly. We realised that the room was too small to accommodate a shower but had we had known that in advance in may have affected our decision to make a book. The outside seating and eating area seemed to be a haven for dog owners and their dogs. Although on the whole the owners were responsible people there were a few who ignored the rules and let their dogs roam free. Maybe a larger sign is needed and staff instructed to remind people.

We had a three night stay with friends and occupied all three available bedrooms. The rooms are comfortable and quiet. The Dolphin is superbly situated for exploring this part of the Suffolk cost, Aldeburgh being a short drive or reasonable walk away. Don’t expect any taxis though. The staff were well organised and pleasant and the bar service first rate. The food is of exceptionally high standard and reasonably priced. You will not need much for lunch after the breakfast! Very highly recommended.

Very very good. Pancakes excellent and made a change from cereals. Very good attentive staff.

Room 3 has a shower over the deep bath. Difficult to get in and out if older. If a shower screen was fitted it would make showering easier and safe getting the floor wet. A hand rail would also be very helpful for older guests. A couple of armchairs would also be nice in the dining area to sit in after dinner. Ie make a small sitting area for hotel guests.

Set in a beautiful village, close to the sea. The Dolphin staff were helpful and the food was amazing. Our room was beautiful and the bed very comfortable. The Bathroom could have done with a little modernisation, but was clean and fit for purpose. All in all, a really lovely long weekend break.

We had to wait for staff when we went down for breakfast in the morning :-( However, breakfast was also amazing.

Charming country inn with lovely rooms providing extra touches such as a bedside DAB digital radio, bathrobes, slippers and a lovely selection of tea, coffee, bottled water & a slice of cake & chocolate on the tea tray for both guests. The evening menu & the breakfast selections were extensive and excellent. All the staff we encountered were really personable and made us feel welcomed and valued guests.

No negatives.

The location is excellent, right in the middle of the holiday village of Thorpeness which is quaint, busy in the day and quiet at night. The restaurant is busy , though and worth booking. The rooms are lovely, very individual, well thought out and exceptionally clean, warm and welcoming. Tea and coffee facilities were good quality. The staff are truly lovely, friendly but not over friendly and the food was excellent. Their breakfast choices are wonderfully eclectic and locally sourced. We love this place and return regularly.

I didn't like the bath/shower arrangement in this bathroom, other rooms we have stayed in had a full shower. The water can get extremely hot, which they do warn you about but be aware.

Thorpeness is a lovely place to visit. We had a wonderful 2 night stay at the Dolphin Inn. Breakfast and dinner was simply divine, the room was spacious, clean and our bed was so comfy! The little touches of chocolate and brownies were such a lovely gesture. The staff were amazing and friendly and the location of the Dolphin Inn was just perfect!! We highly recommend this lovely gem of a place. Thank you for a wonderful stay😍

There wasn’t anything not to like!

the property was clean smartly furnished and well maintained. located in the centre of the village walking distance from beach and rest of village. food was excellent with attentive but not overtly in your face service, staff dealt with allergy issue without fuss and did exactly what was requested. bed was comfortable and possible the best hotel/ pub pillows for a long time. Also had USB charging point on wall sockets

poorly maintained car park with lots of puddles so had to wade from car park. dinner was served with a side salad that contained celery ( a known allergen)but no mention of this on the menu.

Another great find, and properly dog-friendly too; lovely staff, lovely food, great room, great location with an interesting back-story for both the Inn and for the village itself. Thanks for having us two and the two poodles, they keep asking to go on holiday again :-)

Lovely place to escape to for a couple of days away. Beautiful location, quiet and if you want plenty of walks available. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the Inn has a lovely atmosphere. Our room was good but would be helpful if it had a walk in shower.

It would have been better if there was a walk in shower. There are fresh fish and seafood shops selling locally caught fish and seafood and it runs right behind the high street providing a good selection of shops for anything you might need.
