Small Bathroom.

The room was well appointed and in good condition despite the overall age of the historic hotel. The bathrooms were freshly renovated with modern shower technology. The room had a water boiler and a selection of teas, both brewable and instant coffee, instant decaf and hot cocoa, liquid creamer as well as cookies which were refreshed every day. The breakfast was very good, and overall atmosphere of the hotel was of a place to relax in historical high-class surroundings. Well suited for the main clientele, which was elderly retired couples.

Breakfast was not available before 7:30, which was not convenient for accommodations on a business trip. As a result, it would have been great to have had a refrigerator in the room, since I had to eat early breakfasts in my room before heading off to work. But of course, the hotel is not catering to business clientele, and serves meals and tea at specific times through the whole day, so a refrigerator would probably not be needed for most of the clientele.

A lovely hotel with beautiful situation by the sea. Excellent food and very friendly service. This was our fourth stay and we will be there again .

The sash window in bedroom let in a draft . The heating manually operated only stayed on for around an hour and unless immediately reset, the room never achieved the warmth needed when eg watching television or just relaxing. It was always icy when we returned from dinner for example, or from breakfast. It was a lovely room but so cold , yet the bathroom was so warm all day and night.

Our booked room was sold as ‘sea view’, but this just meant it was facing the sea direction - because it was ground floor, and the bar terrace seating was directly in front of our windows - there was no sea view. However - although initially disappointed, this did not spoil our stay, and the bar proximity was not a problem at all.

Excellent hotel , nice to enjoy traditional values with very attentive staff from moment we arrived. The breakfast was excellent and nice to enjoy waiter service instead of buffet style, same goes for evening meal which was at a very high standard . Room was clean and especially enjoyed under floor heating in bathroom . Very quiet at night and we both slept well.

Cannot find anything to really complain about but if pushed I could say a better choice of draught beers would be nice.

Very comfortable and very good staff. Excellent location. Loved the spacious lounges. Although old world charm, fittings were up to date.

Definitely needs a lift in view of the age group of the guests. Unusual food ordering system at evening meal. Was not asked for drink order prior to meal, only food. Sat down in restaurant, had food put in front of us. Looking round for a wine list then trying to choose wine from the extensive menu balanced over my dinner!

The house has beautiful objects and paintings. The staff were very good at their jobs and had obviously been well trained. They did their best to put me at ease as a solo traveller. Lovely gardens.

I was on a last minute deal which was a two night stay which involved changing rooms for the second night. The first room was a bit small and dowdy but the second room was spacious and full of light from the windows with a much better shower. So the rooms vary.

Classically comfortable with a deliciously fresh and inclusive menu. Our stay was my treat for three generations and family friends and what a treat.Bright and contemporary where it matters and yet timelessly stylish all at the same time. The kind and considerate staff made sure we all had an unforgettable proper holiday. Its very well run and everything was just so... 😍 The chef's imagination and fresh quality ingredients gave us all a wide choice of delicious meals.

A real reluctance to leave ....

A very comfortable hotel with excellent breakfast and service. The quality of the food is very high. A big plus is the extent of seating in the lounges and the welcome absence of any piped music. The only disadvantage is the lack of a lift - we were on the second floor. The bathroom was modern and well equipped. A quiet location in the fascinating town of Aldeburgh.

Breakfast was excellent, so was dinner. The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a sea-view with balcony, which was a bonus. The bed was really comfortable. The room was clean and shower superb. The hotel has a welcoming and warm atmosphere.

Could have had a warmer welcome from the member of staff at reception. Perhaps a busy morning?
