The location is great being in the middle of the town, which has lots of lovely shops and cafes. There are around 8 parking spaces around the back of the property, located in Exe St. The property has been nicely modernised. Our room (five) was on the first floor and was clean and very spacious with a lovely shower, nice toiletries and very large and soft towels. It looked over Fore St, the main road through town. The room has sash windows with secondary glazing inside. You can sit in the narrow bays. It was warm when we stayed, so we left one of the windows open and hardly noticed any noise overnight. Just over the corridor was the snack room where you can make tea & coffee. It also has a selection of cereals and some toast options.

The only two downsides were that we could smell the cooking from the kitchen both in the evening and first thing in the morning. It was much worse in the corridor itself. We mentioned this to the staff and they provided us with a Dyson fan in the room. We could also hear people walking about above us, so all in all it may be better to be higher up on the second floor.

Gorgeous accommodation, spacious, all staff were exceptional and could not do more to make you comfortable. Food was delicious. The service was amazing. I have stayed in some very expensive hotels with my job in the past and the service has been good but the service from all staff here was better. From the moment we arrived to the moment we left, the service never failed. On top of the taster courses you have with your meals such as bread and olives in the evening or a bowl of yogurt, mixed fruit and muesli with breakfast (which were free), you also have unlimited access to the kitchenette with bread, toaster, butter/jam/Marmite etc. Kettle, various selections of tea and coffee and an espresso machine, again with various options, cereal, milk, fridge, filtered water. Parking is accessed down a narrow one-way system which was a close call for us but we were in a double cab, long wheel base Transit and there were roadworks/repairs and building works at the time we stayed but these were not a distraction or downside of the stay as we never heard a thing from them.

The service was absolutely top class, and staff were friendly and professional - often that is hard to balance. The food was exquisite and the ambience, not formal but classy. Little extras that just make things nice - the little galley kitchen to help your day go well

That you couldn't mix from both vegetarian and main menu. Apparently, that is quite usual, but it's not something I have come across very much.

Our room was very spacious and our bed very comfortable! There is a galley kitchen with tea, coffee, toast and cereal that you can help yourself to. The restaurant was superb. Delicious and generous breakfast. The staff were super friendly. Thank you to Amelia particularly who really made us feel welcome. Location is in the heart of Topsham.

The rooms were exceptional but staff members Dan and Jack were more than exceptional we had a really bad experience elsewhere and their kindness and empathy was absolutely amazing, I wish I could rate them even higher, a credit to the Salutation Inn and I will definitely be back and recommending the hotel

We have stayed here en route to Cornwall each September for 6 years. We always enjoy our stay. Super friendly staff and spotlessly clean bedrooms. The downstairs comfortable lounge is a.bonus. Superb food and a perfect position in Topsham.

Our bedroom was very small. Room Number 2. We would not stay in this room again. Number 1 is our favourite.

The location was perfect for walking around Topsham. The building was very interesting. An old Inn but modernised in style. Our room was very comfy and all the staff were very helpful. The food was excellent but maybe a little pricey.

Nice touch to have the additional kitchen available for guests to make toast, tea, coffee etc. Very welcoming and informative person on arrival. I believe his name was Dan.

Came down for dinner but the kitchen had already closed just after 8pm so had to find somewhere else to eat.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. The rooms are of a high quality and especially the mattress. Food is exemplary too. Location is right in the centre of town.

Getting into the small car park can be a tight squeeze but to be expected given the town’s road layout.

It was ideally located in the centre of Topsham. We liked the fact we had our own door room both clean and cosy.

There were a couple things missing that would’ve made the room more attractive – somewhere to hand wet towels, teapot, and a squeezy mop to mop down the shower.
