Bod the owner is lovely, he's very attentive. The location is excellent to Powderham castle, 10 min walk. The outlook on the garden was beautiful. The information about places to eat and drink. The breakfast was a nice start to the day.
The bedding had some old stains on. The room hadn't been cleaned, found clothes in the wardrobe, the cafetiere had old coffee in the bottom, couple of dirty towels, the last persons shower gel and shampoo/conditioner in the shower. tea tray basic. Mis mash of bedroom furniture. Very small shower cubical in a cupboard.

This was a beautiful grade two house in a quiet village near Exeter. It is set back from the road and is very quiet, no traffic noise Our host Bob, was very friendly without being intrusive and was very helpful. Our room was large and very comfortable. Breakfast was cooked to order and the quality of the cooked breakfast was excellent. The breakfast buffet was limited, yogurt and a berry compote and cereals but there was plenty to eat, and as I said the quality was excellent. Parking was good and you could easily walk into the village. Unfortunately the local pub had closed down, but there are two restaurants in the village. Its on the coastal road leading to Dawlish Warren's fantastic beach and a short ferry ride away from Exmouth.
The room was spotless when we arrived but I don't think anyone did any cleaning while we were staying there. I'm talking about sinks and toilets really.

The house was characterful and had a pleasant welcoming hall area. The bedroom was lovely with nice opening window onto a peaceful garden. It was delightful having the chime of the village church and owls at night. Our host Bob was chatty, informative and helpful. The bed was very comfortable. The shower was powerful and hot.
The shower tray was incredibly slippery and needed a grip-mat within it. The 'old period house extremely squeaking floor' was a little too much in the loo at night! The breakfast was a bit disappointing after the online hype of it being most excellent. It would have been nice to have had more fresh fruit other than one half bowl of compote. The cooked breakfast could have had more local produce, (and more beans as it was a very small portion). Also more selection of preserves or honey. Some items seemed a bit passed their best; ie. soft cereal, skin on the milk and on the sauces and jam. More attention to detail needed.

Had a little problem in our room first night and it was sorted very quickly. Put in another room with exceptional facilities at no extra cost. Bob and Jane were excellent hosts and couldn't do enough for us. Very friendly couple. Breakfast was amazing. Would recommend to anyone.
Can't say there was any we didn't like at all. Only downfall which wasn't the hosts fault, was the local restaurants only opened from Thursdays.

A lovely clean, spacious room in the Old Vicarage. Perfect for us as we could walk to my cousin’s house in the village and stroll down the lane to the church for his wedding. Bob was a perfect host, cooking a lovely breakfast and engaging in interesting conversations if it was conducive. I can recommend the salmon and scrambled egg - a slice of smoked salmon with perfectly prepared egg and various salad leaves and tomato! A stones throw from Powderham Castle, it’s in a lovely location. I have never stayed anywhere where the ensuite facilities have a separate loo on one side of the room and the shower on another! Quirky!
The church bell announces every quarter hour as well as each hour, so be aware if you’re a light sleeper! The floorboards in the loo are very creaky! The village doesn’t have a pub or shop.

Location was excellent for where we wanted to explore. House & garden are beautiful and the host very welcoming ,
Very little ! Main ( chosen) element at breakfast was fine with good coffee but would have expected more variety for the room price than just sliced bread for ‘afters’ - perhaps some sourdough or a pastry.

Comfortable bed and nice airy room. The proprietor made us feel very welcome and was ver knowledgeable about the area.
No taxi service in local area and had to pay a fortune for a taxi to take us two miles up.the road because they came from Exeter.

The Old Vicarage is a period house. If you want polished wooden floors, comfortable beds, and a breakfast room that is out of a Jane Austen novel, plus a pinch of country chaos, then this is the place for you. Bob was very welcoming and friendly. He cooks a fantastic breakfast and likes a chat. We were delighted with the location as we were attending a wedding at Powderham Castle, it is a problem free 15-minute walk between the 2 places.

Bob the owner cooked the breakfast, it was excellent, hot and tasty, accompanied by all the usual faces, tea , juice, serial toast, lovely. The accommodation was old as the name suggests, but spotless , warm, airy , roomy quiet, just the job.
I had no negative thoughts .

Peaceful location just what we wanted. The breakfasts were superb. Friendly, welcoming hosts. The beds were adequate, just a little narrow, maybe should have asked for double bed. We would definitely consider staying at The Old Vicarage again.
Just the single beds being a little narrow for us.
