Spotlessly clean rooms in a quiet location a 5 minute walk through a park to the superb beachfront - and 10 minutes walk to the train/bus links. The ensuite bathroom was big - makes a change when so many hotels even in this price bracket are the size of shoeboxes. I especially liked the tiny lift - essential after a busy day walking the south west coastal path ! Friendly & efficient management. Highly recommended even for those thinking of staying in nearby Exeter.

The location of The Manor was in a quiet area and central to everything we needed as people on foot, it is very close to the seafront, the town and around a ten minute walk from the railway station. On arrival we were warmly greeted by a gentleman on reception who was always readily available to chat to throughout our stay and he appeared with a lovely smile to attend to our breakfast needs every morning. The breakfast had a large range of items including continental and a cooked breakfast, you will not leave the well presented dining room hungry ☺️ It did cost £15 each but we felt it was worth the money for what we each ate. There is also a dining room for evening meals but during our stay it did not appear open, however there are many places to eat out in Exmouth. Our room was clean had adequate storage and the bathroom had a bath and shower. The building is an old Victorian building and as such there were a few minor things, parts of the decor looked a little worn and there was the odd parts that could have been cleaned a little more, but this did not affect our stay. Before we checked out the same gentleman was on reception and was keen to hear any feedback both positive or negative. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
Due to the building being old, parts of it did look a little dated and some of the floor boards were squeaky in our room. Although it was quite when we stayed, you could slightly hear some movement from the room next door, items being plugged into electrical sockets and their shower running. We could also hear when the people above got out of bed and began to walk around first thing in the morning, but this was only slight and did not affect our stay.

The hotel was very-well presented. Apparent that the property had undergone extensive decoration. The bedroom (no.9 on the first floor) was excellent. Again recently decorated and with what appeared to be a recently-fitted bathroom that was immaculate. The management team that I met at reception were very friendly and helpful. I phoned beforehand to ask for a room with a bath if possible. It was provided. I didn't have a meal in the hotel.
I was prepared for a lack of car parking. There are some spaces in the street, but none were available for me. Being prepared, I looked at the map and parked free in a street off Salterton Road, less than a mile away. My choice each day was Portland Avenue, EX8 2BS. There are other streets adjacent where parking is free all day.

The hotel staff (Nazim & colleague at reception) were extremely helpful, pleasant and very courteous. The hotel location is fantastic and within 5 minute walk to the town centre and less than 10 minutes from the beach front. Hotel itself was clean and nice. You have to bear in mind this is clearly a Victorian property which has been renovated and made into a hotel (you will have to forgive the creaky staircase and heavy footsteps on the ceilings above). Bar the modernisation needed, it is still a nice hotel as the English breakfast (£13 per head) is good, albeit, you will probably get more o your plate at the local Wetherspoon pub and parking is an additional £12 per day (we parked at the town hall car park for £15 for 48 hours as there were no parking spaces left at the hotel & off street parking was also full). Nice hotel & perfect location with a comfortable bed for a good nights’ rest after a long trek along the coastal path.
Parking for cars is limited so book in advanced. Nazim did his best and thankfully, his colleague recommended the town hall car park (3 minute walk from the hotel) and we managed to get a space there and cheaper too. Hotel is in need of updating like they have done with the restaurant, bar and reception areas but understandably, permissions must be sought from the council to preserve some of the Victorian features and heritage.

Nazim, our host, was so helpful & very patient with all of my many questions, changing of rooms & dates, in accommodating my family’s stay. The hotel was very smartly decorated & well maintained. It is in a very quiet location, but an easy short walk to the town. All the staff were so attentive & nothing was too much trouble.Any problems were resolved immediately & always with a smile. Our rooms were spacious with a lovely sea view, powerful shower, super soft white towels,& very comfortable beds. A very well stocked bar & the best Pina colada I’ve ever had.

The rooms were immaculate - clean and modern. Plenty of plugs. Nice bathroom, decent size beds and lots of storage. Staff were all very friendly. They had entertainment on Saturday night which were good. The food was excellent as were the cocktails.
Service was a little slow (nothing major though) and parking was an issue. However you can actually park at the imperial hotel which is only a 5 min walk as it has pay as you go parking which is not just for guests. You only get one key card per room.

We booked an overnight stay at the hotel as we had to have our car at a local garage early the next day for some expensive routine maintenance, so we arrived the night before in order to drop it off. To keep the costs down, we opted for "room only" and for one of the cheapest rooms. On arrival and during our stay, all the members of staff were absolutely lovely: friendly, helpful, accommodating. The room was lovely and clean, the en-suite was also large and super-clean. The bed was very comfortable and nice and long for my 6' husband! We had a meal that evening cooked by the Indian chef which was delicious; we had a couple of drinks from the well-stocked bar and were able to eat in there (a lovely room) rather than the restaurant, as we were the only diners that night. We thought that the bar and the food prices were good value too. We decided to eat breakfast elsewhere as the cost of the breakfast was a bit more than we wanted to pay, but I expect it would have been delicious nonetheless. Finally, as we had most of the day to ourselves before picking up our car, we were delighted that the staff allowed us to leave our bags at the hotel until we needed them which meant we didn't have to carry them around all day.
Unfortunately we could hear people in one of the adjacent rooms even when they were talking at normal pitch (either next to us or above - I couldn't really tell) but they stopped talking early enough for when we wanted to sleep. I imagine they could also hear us! However, in the morning we were woken a bit earlier than we would've liked by the fact that they got up at about 6.30am and we could hear all the "bathroom" sounds and them talking!! But for the cost of the room, we felt that was acceptable although next time would probably choose a room that might be a bit quieter; alternatively I should probably take earplugs with me in future to deal with this sort of thing!

My room had the most stunning view, it’s was small but very cozy and really clean. I loved that there was a nice smaller light for reading at night. Nice tea making facilities, the towels where nice and the staff cleaned the room really well even though I was staying only 2 nights. Great super friendly staff. The room was on the 3rd floor but there was a lift. Location was amazing, really close to nice pubs and less than 10mins from the beach. The room felt like it was from a novel and I will be back definitely

The cooked breakfast was freshly cooked and there was a selection of fresh fruit. We sat in the bar for coffee and drinks several times, which was nice and relaxing. An amazing array of drinks! Our first night we chose to eat in the hotel, clients should be aware that the menu is Indian but we had a very tasty meal with gentle spicing.
The water for tea was not always hot but the staff changed it when we asked. At busy times the orders got a bit muddled but we later realised that the charming 2 Italian assistants were on a 2 week training course for learning English, so quite understandable. It might be an idea for the manager to explain this to the guests. The lighting in our bathroom came on and then went off but returned soon afterwards so not a problem.
