Mostly all went as expected.

There was no orange juice for breakfast on the last two days of my stay this also happened on a similar vocation at the same time of year. I understand that the hotel closes down on the 2nd of January but don't understand who orange juice could was not purchased from Tesco which is inly a 10 minute walk from the hotel. There were other guests asking about orange juice.

Great food, good bar and most of the staff were approachable and friendly . The bathroom was dissapointing and lacked some basic facilities, no shaver points. a team of handymen could be used to replace somelights and the outdoor furniture was in need of replacement. Much of the wood has rotted and the umbrellas need new string to operate. . The two course meal at £21.00 was a brilliant idea.

The hotel lacks TLC and much of what is needed could be fixed at a reasonable price. A good maintenance person would be top of my list. The managers are very good and very helpfull . Just a little more help would make a lot of difference.

The room was magnificent. Fantastic view, spotlessly clean. A little dated and could do with a bit of decorating, but we can't fault the service, staff, and breakfast were plentiful and delicious. We will definitely stay here again and hopefully in the same room. The hotel was close to the beach. 5 to 10 minutes walk from the town and 10 to 15 minutes walk to the train station. Very central.

We liked everything. We can't fault anything. Staff were helpful. The food was plentiful and delicious, and our room was spacious, clean, and had a fantastic view and very central to everything. The weather was kind to us in May, so we had a fantastic week.

Location was fabulous. The food exceeded our expectations, with well cooked evening meals. The only downside was the daily menu seemed to repeat after 5 days. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We'd visit again...

As others have said, it's a very tired, dated hotel which is OK at the price we paid but I wouldn't want to pay more. Access to the hotel is up steep steps...there is no ramp, so anyone with accessibility issues will struggle. Luckily I remembered to take an extension lead for my electrical items. I would have liked a more secure lock on the bedroom door.

The hotel has extensive grounds which are well kept and lead directly to the sea front and the beach, which is doggy friendly. Although the outside of the hotel could do with a refresh, the inside is warm and welcoming with lovely staff. Its not a childrens hotel but great for the older person. They have a superb chef on board and we looked forward to each nights menu. Also the same can be applied to the lovely full English breakfast layed out each morning, with any kind of egg on offer and fresh cooked for each person and delivered to your table. We took our dog with us and very luckily had a ground floor standard room with patio doors straight out onto the lawns, ideal. Thank you imperial hotel for the 5 day convalescent break we both needed.

The hotel suited our needs and expectations, if your looking for 5* luxury, then go else where, the 4* comfort is all we were looking for and got plenty of.

For an affordably priced single room this was both spacious and well located (on the first floor with seaview). Within easy walking distance of town centre, close to restaurants and shops, railway station and bus stops. Excellent breakfast. Staff members were pleasant and helpful.

We had to pay for all extras at the reception desk or to the barman since new owners have yet to restore the facility to charge to one's room and settle the cumulated bill upon departure (as the card issued with one's room key declares should be possible). Dinner a little disappointing (it was cheaper to go out for dinner and better quality meals were individually cooked to order rather than, we suspect, reheated).

Excellent location, right next to the beach and town centre only a few minutes walk. Breakfast and dinner was fab although the set dinner options are very limited which was unfortunate for my fussy 12 year old. Room was spacious and clean. All the staff were lovely and helpful. Big carpark plenty of spaces. Tried to extend our stay as we had a great time but was unfortunately sold out! Will be back in the future.

Our room was located next to the door/stairway so sometimes noisy when people were leaving/coming to their rooms. Also the decor in our room was very dated, but the hotel itself is much more modern.

Room was spacious and comfortable. Hotel were generous with refreshment items, plenty of milk, tea and coffee and nice biscuits too. We had a slight sea view from our room which is always lovely, reminding one where we are! It was so nice to have a window in the bathroom too. Helping with freshness and brightness in the room.

The room window was secured and it only opened a couple of inches. This is fine, but feel we should have been able to unclip this, if required to open the window, especially with being so warm recently. There is also no latch lock on the room door. Overall a very nice room.

The Imperial is a lovely old hotel in a great location. We chose the hotel because we wanted rooms with views of the esplanade & sea. We also wanted an older hotel with some Victorian charm & it had to be dog friendly! The Imperial gave us all of these things & we had a lovely weekend stay with my elderly Mum & our dog. Some of the hotel is in need of updating & some TLC but many older hotels need the same. Our rooms were comfortable, clean & spacious & had everything we needed. The bar, lounge & terrace areas were lovely to use in the evening, were all dog friendly & there was a good selection on the bar menu & it catered for all diets. Breakfast is served in the restuarant & although our dog wasn't allowed in the main restuarant we were so pleased to find a separate dog friendly area which was really lovely - just through an archway. The selection for breakfast was perfect & the staff were wonderful, very friendly & attentive. We found staff throughout the hotel to be friendly & helpful which made for a very happy stay. Thanks to Michael & Wendy on reception for being so friendly, helpful & kind. & to Michael for his help to rearrange our booking because of illness.

There are stairs going up to the front entrance & I watched many elderly people having difficulties with them! There is an alternative entrance but there is a steep slope leading down to it tha t is quite tricky to negotiate with a walker. It would have been lovely to have bowls & blankets in rooms that have paid to have their dogs stay with them, thank you.

Came here for one night for my mums birthday. Had a twin room on the second floor with a view of the car park, but we didn't mind that as we come to Exmouth all the time. The room was spacious and clean with everything you would need for one night. The bathroom looked like it had recently been refurbished. Plenty of choice of channels on the TV.

There was a gap of about 2 inches on the bottom of the door which wasn't ideal. Not only did it let a lot of light and noise in through the night from the hallway but also, if there was a fire, the door would be deemed useless.
