The hotel location was excellent, the view from our twin sea view room was beautiful. Although the decor and furniture was dated( yesteryear charm? ) all served their purpose well. The beds were firm, clean and comfortable. Breakfast choice was very good especially Full English. Reception staff were both very helpful.

The hotel is old, but it is clear to see the ambience it once had, when in the future, the bar is up and running as intended, and lunch or an evening meal might be an option, with a bit of a refurb it will hold its own with the ‘shabby chic ‘ . We enjoyed our brief stay. Parking is a bit tricky.

The view from the room was lovely, bed very comfy, lovely shower. Room has everything you need it to have. Upon arrival, the room I had been allocated hadn't been cleaned. The staff were very quick to give me another room which had a lovely view and much better decor! They were so friendly and it wasn't an inconvenience at all and were super quick to handle me which was greatly appreciated.

As above, it is disappointing to walk into an uncleaned room (although handled very well by staff). The lack of parking was a bit of a pain (I ended up parking where I thought I could and got a ticket). There was some black mould in the tiles on the bathroom, which can easily be sorted with a spot of viakal and a good scrub. The mechanism to switch between the waterfall shower and the smaller shower (which I prefer) was damaged, and I couldn't get it to work which not the end of the world but would have been nice to be working.

Good location, great views, lucky with parking on the road outside. Large room, twin beds, spacious bathroom with shower over the bath. Lovely large towells. Lift, luggage storage as we arrived early before our room was ready. Tea and coffee in room, plenty of storage space. Breakfast was good, didn't have any of the continental, but the cooked breakfast was fresh and piping hot. Good ch oice with veggie and vegan options. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quiet location, we were at the Pavilion on the evening, very short walk, although steep path in places if you have any mobility issues.

Shower took a while to get the temperature right as it was mixer taps, but incredibly powerful! Carpet in our room was stained and tired. Bed was very firm, I did toss and turn quite a bit to get comfortable. All in all, great value for money and I would stay again.

Dog friendly. Good location. Welcoming staff. Good quality clean bedding. No restaurant but we were able to order in food to eat in the bar which made travelling with the dogs and kids easier.

Dogs only allowed in certain rooms. Had to book a courtyard room which was clean but rather run down. We then had to pay an additional £60 for the dogs to stay (£20 per dog per night for the first dog then £10 per night for second). Seemed a disproportionate amount given the state of the room. Other dog friendly rooms may be available but weren’t an option when we booked.

The location of the Royal Beacon is excellent. It's set back from the sea front, quiet and relaxing. On line it gave the price for breakfast as £15. We didn't pre-book it but decided to have it when we arrived and they offered it to us for less, at £12. The staff were very helpful and friendly which made the stay more enjoyable. Over all it was a good experience staying at the hotel and although the part we stayed in is a little dated, it was clean and the room better than I expected. I would stay here again.

Our designated room had not been prepared when we arrived at the stated time for availability. We were transferred to a first floor room with the helpful assistance of the staff. The room was a significant upgrade and very much appreciated. The original room was too-cramped with a shower of less size than a telephone box! More generally the upgrade of the whole hotel interior with new furnishings has been most successfully carried out.

I liked the cleanliness of the hotel , the lovely room with bathroom en-suite and not to forget the lovely kind staff. The cooked breakfast to order was also nicely cooked and well presented. Remembering this is a three star hotel I was more than happy , it was lovely to stay in accommodation that is generally quiet and peaceful.

There were a couple of negative points which I managed to work around. Having a positive mind enabled me to appreciate my general experienced..

The position was very good, and the staff were so customer orientated and kind and helpful. In particular I have to say that Hannah and Chloe were always happy to go out of their way to make sure we got the most out of our stay.

I can’t say there was anything I didn’t like. My room could have been warmer the first night (I was in a courtyard room) but one mention from me and I was given a heater and some extra blankets. We stayed at the end of summer/beginning of autumn when the heating wasn’t needed but the nights could get cold, so not a hotel fault. Be aware that the hotel is on top of the cliff with a fairly shallow zig zag path down to the esplanade which was also wheelchair accessible

Our Stay was very good. But not happy with the parking. But that would not stop us visiting again. Overall it was a good stay.

We felt rushed at breakfast, our order was taken for our cooked food, but we did not have much of a chance to get the Continental . I choose a yoghurt but had to leave it as our breakfast came out. We sat on a table of four and one toast rack was put on table which held three slices of toast. We did ask for more and it came. Our Table was being cleared while someone was still eating. Maybe these issues could be addressed. Cooked Breakfast was excellent.

The room was fine, clean, comfy bed, effective shower, good range of hot drinks, nice shower gel. Great location, short walk to beach or town. Staff were friendly. Very reasonable price for a beach side setting.

The hotel has recently been taken on from being closed for a long time, from the outside it looked a little weathered but inside was fine and they are working hard on improving, The car park (£10 a night) was small and difficult to negotiate but there was off road parking around area.
