THe first room we were booked into had an extract vent (Kitchen?) directly adjacent the window and the fan noise intrusive, we complained and were immediately re-assigned to a different room- no quibbles. The staff were always helpful. The room was adequate. The building is historic and impressive and ideally located in the heart of the city and only a few minute's walk to gardens, cathedral, and excellent shopping facilities.

The weather was quite hot during our stay and the wing of the building in which we stayed had no ventilation in the corridor, despite numerous windows all were secured shut, therefore, heat gain but no ventilation and in the room only restricted, minimal ventilation. This is not uncommon and no doubt addressing potential safety issues, however, with no air-conditioning the option to move hot-air needs to be addressed, a fan helped but it was not comfortable.

Quiet, very clean and comfortable hotel with a good self-service breakfast. Good blackout curtain in bedroom to keep out early morning light. Windows will open. Good lighting. Great location in quiet part of city centre, opposite Exeter Central station and castle gardens. Unlike many hotels nowadays, they service the rooms daily. Luggage storage is efficient.

Single bedrooms are small and only fairly well equipped-toilet brush, teaspoon and phone not supplied. Restaurant is good for breakfast but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner-the room is plain and has no atmosphere. Usual problem with key cards-they only seem to work for a night at a time, but otherwise staff are pleasant and efficient.

I chose this hotel mainly because of its location, and their rooms are a good size with comfortable beds. We know if we arrive with our own car, it will be up to our luck to park there, as, understandably, they have limited car parking spaces – hence, the good quality and the kind mentality of the hotel staff are so vital! The front desk/receptionist Kara was extremely helpful in giving clear guidance with a printout map to show the other three locations where we could park when their car park was full on Saturday evening. And the front desk manager quickly moved us to another hotel room the next morning as soon as he heard our concerns about the noisy heat fans outside our room that had kept us sleepless on the first evening of our stay. Their hospitality is superb. 👍

We had to leave a spacious double bedroom with comfortable beds and a big modern walk-in shower because of the prolonged whining 'hmmmm' noise of the two hotel's heat fans or chimney pumps that we could hear for the whole night. We needed to open the window on the hot summer evening. The two stand-alone fans that were in the two rooms both look dusty and need good thorough hoovering before any guests turn them on.

Excellent location, directly across the street from Exeter Central station, close to the city centre and other amenities. The bathroom was modern, clean and well-equipped, with one of the best showers I've used in a hotel! That's not easy to achieve in an older building, so well done. The staff were all very friendly and helpful.

The room was sweltering, with very limited options to achieve a comfortable temperature. Admittedly our stay came towards the end of a heatwave - and they did provide a large fan to help move the air around. But it was very hot and stuffy. There's also very limited car parking - we didn't manage to get parked there once during our 48 hour stay.

What more could you want from a city centre hotel? Huge rooms (124 and 126), clean, tea and coffee making stuff and 2 bottles of water, great bathroom, good mirrors (one near a plug too - not always the case from my experience!). The receptionists we spoke to were both fantastic at their job - couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. We stayed on a Thursday night and were lucky enough to get a parking space - very good value at £12.50 for 24 hours (for residents - you can park there if you're not staying but the rate is much higher). The building itself is beautiful and the interior I would describe as faded grandeur - yes a little tired here and there but hotel rooms are well used (and sometimes by people who don't respect them) but it doesn't affect your stay. We didn't have breakfast so cannot comment on that - Exeter has so many places to get food so it wasn't an option for us. The hotel is also literally opposite Central station - very convenient and will stay again when visiting my son.

The hotel is located close to the city centre and also close to train stations (Exeter Central is just in front of the hotel). Staff is very friendly and helpful, desk is open 24/7 which very convenient for the late arriving or early leaving. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Hotel suggests a typical English breakfast with different options, which I found very tasty. Ideal choice for leisure and business.

Window is not fixed in the open position. In case of hot weather it is very hot and not enough fresh air in the room.

The Hotel was very clean and the room inside seemed nice, new and refurbished. Lovely smelling amenities and great view of the city, really good central location especially as a solo traveller reliant on public transport. I did not hear anything overnight also and had a pleasant stay. A brilliant, comfortable and roomy single bed and the bath was lovely also.

I did have to help a lovely elderly couple with their things, where he was in a wheelchair and she was struggling to help him up the ramp. Not a problem of course, but the staff didn't seem very helpful (perhaps they're not allowed to due to health and safety?) and the lady did say to me it doesn't seem like the most accessibility friendly to access the entrance of the Hotel, but there are big lifts which were accessible to the couple and I used also. This is not a problem if you are able bodied of course, but just something to note. The only other thing I noted was the name of the Hotel on the front is still the old name so it was a bit confusing.

Nice clean room. Location of the hotel was good. Good parking facilities. Staff were excellent - they treated me like a VIP

The fact that there were no net curtains, so I had to keep the drapes closed and lights on when I wasn't fully dressed. The room was quite warm and there was no temperature control. No phone in the room ( it appears to have been stolen!) The kind receptionist gave me a number that I could call from my mobile phone. Just a little thing, but there was a sanitary bag holder that was empty and did not get refilled during my stay. Perhaps these need to be removed from the rooms then, as they serve no purpose.

Good selection for breakfast. Food was hot and replenished when needed. On site parking for £12.50 per 24hrs. Great location opp Exeter Central station if youre not travelling by car. Stayed for 2 nights as attending Exeter Uni graduation. Had to go back to Exeter following week so booked again to stay at hotel. As it was graduation week the hotel provided cupcakes, snacks, orange juice & Prosecco and decorated with balloons in the reception area which was very thoughtful. Would definitely stay here again

Coffee needs improving

We’ve stayed in Exeter a few times but the Rougemont was without doubt in the best location. Central for restaurants, shops and Exeter Central station was just across the road. The cathedral and the quay were about a 10 min walk. This was our second stay at this hotel.

We had a junior suit (that’s all that was available) so the room was quite large with very high ceilings. We had to live out of our suitcases as there was no drawers or shelves to place clothing only a wardrobe. There was plenty of room for a chest of drawers though.
