The room was of an excellent size. The bathroom was a wet room which was great. The pub side of the building was clean and tidy. I cannot say enough about the staff. Every one of them tried to please us to the best of there ability. Extremely pleased with there efforts.

The quality of the food was good but could have been better with a little more care and attention to detail. The room was cold with a cold bed, there was no instructions on how to alter the heating / aircon. The shower curtain needs to be replaced with one that reaches the floor so the rest of the floor can stay dry when you get out of the shower.

everything went well for us. room was great, comfortable, bathroom lovely, food fantastic and staff wonderful, lovely ambiance, beautiful view out to the harbour in the distance, and the sea,

there was nothing we didnt like, we had stayed with you just the week before, for one night and everyting was perfect then. we went on from you on that earlier booking, on to bridlington, stayed two nights there, at the lobster pot by marstons inns, to see a band at the spa, that was brilliant too. from bridlington we went to scarboroughsupposed to be three nights at the premier inn , north scarborough but it was dreadful, so we cancelled the last night there and came back to you, via a simple phone call with your main marstons phone number. we will definitely stay with you again.

Loved everything, lovely staff, lovely pub, rooms spotless and separate from bar and restaurant. Staff went above and beyond which made our stay extra special for my wife's 60th birthday. Paula did a wonderful job making sure our group of 12, who stayed for an evening meal in the restaurant were all served at the same time with piping hot food, which may I add was all delicious. From checking in to checking out the management and staff was exceptional. The location was good with plenty car parking spaces. It was about 20 to 25 min leisurely walk to Whitby Harbour and town all downhill, but would recommend return on bus or taxi unless your fit and don't mind walking up hill. Taxi averaged £ 8.00 thumbs up 👍to the penny Hedge. Would highly recommend and will definitely stay again on our next visit to Whitby.

Nothing I didn't liked

Room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. Amenities very good, nice little touches, tea tray, good quality coffee and even peppermint tea. Entrance and hallway was light and airy yet warm. It was spacious and spotlessly clean. The whole place was meticulously maintained. Exceeded expectations. It was a good job I didn’t take notice of picture depicting room as it did not do it justice. Nice pub, food good and reasonably priced, good breakfast selections. Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Photo of room in ad needs changing as does not do the room justice

Room was clean and comfortable - Maybe a small fridge could have been provided, i was hapy that free bottled water was available from the bar.

I paid for the late check 1pm at a cost of £20 however, at 12.59 we received a loud knock at the door from the tall gentleman who initially booked us in and shouted are you ready for check out its time. When I replied ok will be 5 mins i never got a response which i thought was very ruse and I believe this gentleman needs some serious training in customer care, He is definitely the wrong man for front of house dealings with customers, when we went into the restaurant for lunch even the young waitress said to me and my partner to ignore him and sorry that he banged on your door, which was a little unusual especial as she said this quite loud in front of many other customers eating lunch. Change this gentleman attitude or change him all together and you have a perfect Accomodation.

The location was excellent, easy short travel distance to both Whitby, and Robin Hoods Bay. The rooms being a separate building just across from the bar / restaurant was perfect as, travelling with two children, we were not disturbed by any noise. P.S Staff very warm and friendly.

The only small gripe was that the bedside tables were very small and close to the lamps, so we couldn't place our glass under the light, or have enough room for the phone, remote & glass. That's it, everything else, no issues.

Convenient for our purpose, nice pub, free parking & adequate facilities.

Rooms a little dated but ok for a convenient stop over. Bed was too hard for me, I had to sleep on top of the quilt to soften it.

Room was clean and beds comfortable had a good nigh sleep

Choice of menu is poor and does not cater very well for vegetarian or non Alcohol based meals Breakfast -bad experience , could not get as basic as scrambled eggs . My wife's breakfast was a thin layer of avocado and nothing like we expected . To make it worse it came with bacon when we did not ask for it (we do not eat pork) and when we mentioned it was simply taken off rather then Replace with a fresh meal not exposed to the meat

The staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean. Facilities were great. Great location we managed to visit quite a few places.

Food was ok although some things on the menu weren't available, we didn't have breakfast but we did have an evening meal. There were only 4 coffee bags in the room when we arrived so we had a coffee each (2 of us) before we went out so there was only enough for one cup each the following morning. Also as it was a family room there wasn't anything the little ones could have like a hot chocolate or even some juice ( we did take some soo not a huge problem) and we did need to ask for 2 more glasses as there were 4 of us and only 2 glasses.

The staff/service was first class, free parking a bonus & food was lovely, generous portions and relaxed atmosphere. Rooms were clean & well equipped, we requested a disabled room which not only came with a spacious walk in shower room but also a pull cord for help with reassurance that somebody would always be available. Would certainly come back again, not many places can offer/cater for disabled friendly service in Whitby, I have been holidaying in Whitby for over 40 years and I would certainly be recommending Penny Hedge.

There was nothing I disliked, I was pleasantly surprised what they had to offer, it’s not easy to find disabled friendly places in Whitby.
