I was upgraded to a room with a bathtub, which I had asked for the day before but had been told it was not available - nice surprise. There was masses of boiling hot water. The room was large and clean. They stored our bikes under cover and securely as promised. There was a good selection of dishes in the restaurant and dinner was served quickly. Breakfast also good with plenty of choice. Poached eggs cooked to order. The staff both at reception and in the restaurant couldn't have been more helpful.

My room was on the main road and a bit noisy.

Location was very convenient and staff were very welcoming and friendly

On a 3 night stay we were not offered any service to our room (no bedding changed, no fresh towels) there were 2 of us staying in this room and we were only supplied with 1 hand and 1 bath towel, and there was only 1 bottle of water supplied, there were a few areas in this accommodation need a bit of attention in the cleaning area, one of the day's we stayed it rained heavy all day and there was no sheltered area if your a smoker, no extra toilet roll or sanitary products were offered during our 3 night stay

Stayed for one night to meet with friends. The room was comfortable and warm when we arrived - good sized shower cabinet in the bathroom and all was clean and tidy. Had dinner in the restaurant with our friends - the food was fresh and well cooked - everyone had something different and we sent back 5 clean plates! Breakfast was in a pleasant dining room. The cold table was fairly basic, but adequate, however the hot menu was good and obviously cooked to order.

Whilst the warmth of the room on our arrival was very acceptable, it did stay that way all night, so was a little too warm for sleeping - there may have been a thermostatic control, but was not prepared to get up in the middle of the night to search for it. The shower, though a good size, did leak on the floor, which made it very slippery. Coffee at breakfast, although served in a pot, was lukewarm, had to ask for a hotter refill.

The food and staff were all good. The beds and room very comfortable. It took us a while to find the second set of towels as one set was in the bathroom and one in the wardrobe. We also only had one bottle of water and one paper cup and no teaspoons. We were only staying one night so a bit late to rectify when we realised. Overall though a nice comfortable stay in a lovely old hotel in a good spot and we would stay again. However, I was very surprised that, as guests, we had to pay to stay in the hotels own car park.

I didn’t like having to pay to park in the hotel’s own car park attached to the hotel.

Enthusiastic staff, clean room, excellent food. Our room was at the back, so very peaceful. All staff very helpful especially the cleaners. Fantastic garden to sit out in and lovely pub atmosphere.

The chairs in the pub area and restaurant were really filthy. I arrived early for check in and was told that I couldn't check in until 3pm. I was told that as soon as a room was ready they would come and find me. No one did and I found myself at the back of the queue on checkin at 3pm after a wedding party.

Excellent location for RHS Wisley, where I visited. A characterful hotel with Very friendly staff Light and very good decor in the restaurant with a lovely conservatory area and outside eating area

Although my stay was very comfortable I was rather disappointed in my room. The room I stayed in right at the back near the car park, although having clean bed linen seemed rather dark to me with inadequate lighting. Overall it had a rather worn feel with some stains on the carpet and some crumbs from a previous guest, and a loose floor tile in the bathroom.

Wonderful old coaching inn with bags of character. My room was well placed - just across the yard from reception and very close to the restaurant. I’m always a little reticent about staying in a pub because of potential noise disturbance but my two nights there were very peaceful. The cooked breakfast was excellent. Piping hot, with all ingredients perfectly cooked.

The room was just a little tired and could do with some refurbishment. Carpets and decoration especially. I was also disappointed to have to pay an extra £20 on check-out for two nights car parking. This wasn’t clear in the listing and should have been either included in the price or made very clear on check-in. I was only parked in a bay down the side of the hotel and can’t really see what I could have been paying for.

Excellent size room and bathroom with lots of nice features. You could easily spend a few days there and not feel confined. King size bed and crisp bedding, plus a comfortable sofa. Very period surroundings which gave a relaxed feeling to the place. Clean, tidy and enough staff available to respond.The food was good too.

Paying for overnight parking. £10 is a lot a night is a lot, having said that, although it looks like it must be The Talbots car park, it's run by Apcoa. Seems very over priced though.

The location, the setting and Ripley. The breakfast was really good. The Bed was comfortable and hot shower. The room was warm, reception staff helpful.

We have stayed for the last 6 years at The Talbot and each year we feel the rooms need updating. The shower rooms especially. We felt the cleaning was not really good, thick dust on carpet edges, mirrors not clean, very scratched dressing table, no toiletries, window nets and blinds need replacing. (annex and stable block). One of the breakfast staff was really good but 2 were not really trained as finished plates left on table, not moved, so no room and no offer of extra tea./hot water provided unless we asked.

Historic and traditional. Lovely and kind staff. Staff need brochures on London such as hop on, hop off buses. Nice little town. Close to some lovely gardens but there is no bus to that place. Room was well heated. There was a kettle in the room.

No refrigerator or microwave or Keurig in the room. No laundry facilities. Pub was nice. Restaurant is attractive but food is heavy. Coffee is very poor. Far from London and that makes it an expensive trip. Staff refer to a taxi driver who is twice as expensive as Uber, which is not cheap.
