Close to shops and restaurants, but far enough away to be quiet. View from our room of the bay was great! Staff was super friendly and informative! Rooms were clean and modern.

Room was a little small, but didn't really feel cramped. Let's just say they used every inch of space as best they could! The location was up a short (but steep) hill, but it was manageable.

The staff was fantastically accommodating and the breakfast and refreshments available in the lobby were great. The rooftop patio has a fantastic view and is set up to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee while enjoying the company of friends.

The hotel is situated about halfway up a fairly steep hill. Everything in Avalon is close together so it was not a far walk but a little rough with the luggage and would have been difficult for folks with mobility issues. We were ok burning off the calories but that trek was unexpected when I booked.

Continental breakfast was good. View was excellent! Staff very friendly and accommodating.

The closet was extremely too small. Space across was about 6 to 8 inches wide. Only 4 hangers available. We had to hang most of our clothes on the wall hooks. Didn't realize hotel was sitting on a hill. The climb up and down was very tiring for me. We finally took a cab to one restaurant. Tried to use the app to have a cab take us back to the boat and my husband couldn't get the app to respond. We finally got a number from the staff for a local cab and that worked out way better than the app.

It was a good climb uphill to get to, but we enjoy walking everywhere. Breakfast was nice, plus mimosas on Saturday. Wine and Cheese on Fridays was very relaxing. The deck was a fantastic place for many purposes. The staff could not have been more kind or accommodating. Parker, Casey, Fabian, and Melissa took great care of us! They gave wonderful recommendations and saw to all of our comforts! Awesome staff!! We appreciated housekeeping every day. The robes were nice to have available. Coffee, water, towels, even wine was available.

We would have appreciated more fresh fruit to be available anytime. Sometimes our room was missing a few things after housekeeping finished, soaps, shower caps, etc. The closet is small, but everything is on Catalina. The balcony was small, but lovely.

A truly fabulous stay, we will definitely be returning! The hotel is within walking distance to everything! All the restaurants and the beach club. The rooftop is the perfect place to enjoy breakfast or wait out nap time if you have small children. We didn’t feel the room was too small, and we had a pack n play set up by the hotel and we all fit just fine! Thank you to the staff who were so friendly and accommodating, we are looking forward to visiting again!

I genuinely have nothing bad to say about our stay

We had a standard ocean view room (213) which came with a balcony. The room was small, but everything that we needed was in there. The extra for the ocean view was well worth it. The staff were all helpful and the opportunity to use the hotels beach towels was a nice touch. The location was good. Just a short distance from the ferry and main street. However it is up a quite steep hill which was not a problem.

The complementary breakfast was not for us. It was quite bland and served in the hotel lobby area which became quite crowded. On our second day we went out for breakfast which was much better.

The rooms are small but clean and met our needs. We really like the outside area on the third floor with nice view of city. The staff was friendly and had a small breakfast in morning and cookies if afternoon which was nice touch. They also told us about The Circuit which is the Islands version of Uber and for $2 per person they will take you anywhere on island. Didn’t need an expensive golf cart rental with Circuit

There is so much to love about the Aurora! The location of the property is great, situated on an inclined street offering a clear view of the Avalon harbor. The room we had was amazing, complete with a stellar bath experience and most comfortable bed i've slept on in a hotel. Taxi service to and from is cheap and the hotel staff will call one for guests and also will hold baggage for free. The breakfast options were amazing and perfect for everyone.

The size of the room was okay given we paid for a 'junior suite'. Truthfully this would not be considered a suite if it were not on the remote Catalina Island, but a standard room.

-The jacuzzi tub was just okay. The tub bottom needs some sort of matt....very slippery. -The value was not there given we paid over $500 for one night. We expected a real suite with a balcony and view. What we were given was a no view room. -We could have paid half as much for a room more near everything and with a view.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Auora. The location and view from our room was lovely. The staff and amenities were also excellent and made our stay very special. We are planning to use this hotel again on our visit next year.

The AC was a bit loud but grateful to have AC só didn’t matter much in the end.
