This is the coziest little hotel, in a quiet area and it is super clean! The room had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable! We loved the outdoor patio with the view of the mountains and comfy outdoor furniture, and the lights in the evening created a very nice and relaxing ambiance. We enjoyed the bbq and used it every evening to make dinner. The owner is the most friendly gentleman - he was so kind and accommodating, and made us feel so welcome. Overall, we were never treated with so much hospitality anywhere else and our stay was perfect in every way! We will definitely be coming back to stay here again!

It was really lovely. They gave us ice cold water when we arrived along with a basket of fruit and cookies. There was a really lovely outdoor sitting area and another area that had a fire pit. The large room was exceptionally well appointed. There were three comfortable chairs, a nice big desk, a round table for dining, a very comfortable bed and many extras like two toothbrushes, toothpaste, shower cap, comb and, did I mention the cookies? The lighting was first rate and there was a walk-in closet with a luggage rack. The staff/owners were helpful and kind. The wi-fi was very good. I really enjoyed the town of Big Pine. It is like Lone Pine was 20 years ago. If you have 2 1/2 hours, be sure to visit the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest. The turn off is just north of the town. The drive is incredible! The Schulman Grove Visitor Center is open 7 days a week during the summer/fall months and is staffed with park rangers who give talks.

The owner greeted us cordially even though we arrived a bit after 10 pm. The colorful bedspreads and pillows made the room cheerful. There were plenty of charging ports for electronics. In the morning, we enjoyed our coffee on the raised dining patio in the shade of a couple of tall trees. The brass numerals on each room's door were brightly polished -- the entire motel was well cared for!

The shampoo and conditioner could have been more concentrated -- not so watery.

They totally exceeded our expectations. It's just a small, older motel, but the level of upkeep was absolutely top notch. The bed was comfortable. The room had a fridge, microwave, table and chairs. The parking lot was freshly paved. They had an outdoor grilling space and park benches to sit down an enjoy being outdoors. It was far more comfortable than we expected...especially given the affordable price. The staff was kind and generous and friendly. Hands down, it was the best affordable.motel we have we have ever stayed in.

I liked everything.

We had an exceptional stay! The owners went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed. Their hospitality and kindness is unmatched. The room was very spacious, clean, and comfortable. We slept so well! It is an easy 60-75 minute drive to Mammoth and a great place to stay for that if you want to save money on lodging. Nearby there are a few eating options- highly recommend Brewed Awakening for your morning coffee.

Nothing, it was perfect.

This not a five star hotel and it does not pretend to be such. It is a cheap, clean motel with a hot the shower. Yes, the paint might be pealing off here and there, but such is reflected in the price. There were toiletries and even toothbrushes in the bathroom. We were given a basket of fruit and biscuits upon arrival. Rossi’s restaurant down the road is a real local gem.

My bedside light did not work. They seem to have fixed it, but it stopped working again.

We liked the fact that someone fixed up an older motel instead of tearing it down, or letting it die of neglect. The owners are taking good care of it and are proud of their business. In a town that seems a bit depressed, at least in what might be the off season, it is making a positive contribution. We also enjoyed eating at Rossi's Place restaurant. Good food in a cozy environment with local customers.

I would highlight the approach of the owner. From the very beginning, he was friendly to us, and the check-in process was a real pleasure. The motel itself is ordinary, but it is managed with love, which is reflected in the cleanliness and the way customers are treated.

Unfortunately, during our stay, the Wi-Fi wasn't working, which made it a bit more challenging to plan our further travels. However, the owner at least tried to resolve the issue, for which we thank him.

At check in, I was given a bottle of water and snacks for my room. Was also provided excellent information on meals in the area. The area was safe to walk to dinner and back home. Outside, there was a lovely patio that I sat and read as the sun set. In the morning, I was delighted to watch her little chicken scratch around the yard area. This family owned motel is a little gem.

Staying at the Starlight Motel in Big Pine was the best motel experience I have had in a very long time. The proprietors went out of their way to be friendly, providing a delicious homemade breakfast outside. The motel was a standard small one story drive up to the door type, but the proprietors really went out of their way to make the interior beautiful, including the bedspreads, throw pillows and wall art. Everything worked well (shower, air conditioning...) and the room was quiet.
