We stayed in a Deluxe Queen room that had a kitchenette. It was a studio apartment, really. It was so cute and we truly enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect. A little over a block from the beach and two blocks from downtown restaurants and shopping.

Though the room had a full Kitchen, it was completely empty. No cookware, plates, cups, silverware or even a coffee pot. No coffee in the lobby either. Plan to bring everything you would need if you intend to cook anything when reserving a room with a kitchen.

You cannot beat the location of the Scandia Motel. It is on the edge of Carlsbad--an easy walk to cafés and restaurants and a 5 minute walk to the beach. It is not fancy, but it is clean, well-kept--the owners clearly take pride in tending the grounds--and a wonderful surprise to find in Carlsbad. If your priority is ease of movement around Carlsbad and its delights, then this is the place.

My wi-fi connection was weak which made working difficult--but I never complained. I simply went to cafés to work.

The Scandia is great value for money and is in a good location. Rooms are good and clean. The parking was good too. I would book here again.

Staff need to give a good firdt impression as they are the first ones you meet when arriving. I did have to ask the girl who signed me in if she was ok, as she was miserable. She soon cheered up when she realised I wasn't happy with her attitude...

I had my own little apartment. Much more than “just a room” It had a full kitchen, which was a pleasant surprise. Also, it was upstairs and I had a lot of privacy which I enjoyed. Lots of lighting and the water in the shower was nice & hot. The room heater also got very warm.

The heater in the room was very loud so I had to choose to either be warm, or watch t.v., not both. There were little bugs on the stove and in the microwave. Although the big kitchen was nice, there was no plates, utensils or paper towels or coffee filters. I wish I knew in advance so I could’ve brought dishes and paper products.

Really like the new staff, they have been very attentive to my needs, even had gotten a studio when they filled up, live the upgrade at same cost for the room requested. They do best to accommodate. This hotel has been here as long as I can remember even as a teenager back in the 80's, it's definitely over 45 years old. So people need to keep that in mind. And it's coastal can't beat that. But the coast comes with Salt air, so rust will be present. It's perfect for me and convenient for work, freeway close and my hometown close. They meet demands and requests from everyone best as possible.

I liked the fast check-in. The room was nice and clean. You're able to park right outside your motel room. The room had 2 queen beds, a fridge, a microwave, plenty of towels, soap, shampoo, and tolietries. The bed linen and towels were very clean. Lastly, you're given a remote when you check in to watch TV. There's cable and HBO to watch.

I didn't like the train sounding his horn throughout the night. This motel is close to train tracks.

Continently located to everything. We were in room #123 it was spacious and had a small kitchen area. Beds were comfortable and had a pull out couch for extra guest. We were only in the room to shower and sleep so it did its purpose.

Property is old and outdated and needs a little tlc.

Clean, clean, clean. Beautiful floors, fresh paint, remodeled bathroom that had the largest most absorbent bath towel that I have ever seen in a budget motel. This is a small older motel that the rooms have been completely updated. The rooms are small, but they have crown molding and are darling. Walk down the block to Carlsbad village, few blocks to the beach, or drive a few blocks the other way to the freeway. The location could not be better. The staff are wonderful, from check in, to housekeeping, to checkout. If you stay anywhere else, you are mission out on a gem of a motel.

There wasn't anything that could have been any better. They have a great ice machine with 2 giant fully stocked vending machines.

This is my fave place to stay when I’m in Carlsbad. Front desk staff are awesome! Check-in was very fast, the room was clean and comfortable. Nice, updated bathroom/shower. Water gets hot very quickly. Check-out time 11am, they don’t pester you to hurry up. Overall great experience for a great price!!

I like the small town feel and how the motel was in walking distsnce of everything. Legoland is real close for fsmily. Lots of fsmilies very very safe. Management took pride in the rooms very clean.Jade and her husband made you feel safe and cared for. I stay here all the time.
