Excellent location, 2 blocks from beach. We had partly cloudy days, but whenever sunshine hit my balcony I could be on the beach 5 minutes later. I'm glad I booked the double deluxe room with balcony and sea view. The room was spacious, clean, and well furnished. We had 2 beds, two comfy chairs, 2 desk chairs, plus chairs on the balcony. The bathroom was modern with great shower and toilet. This is not a fancy place, but all the staff we met were very nice and accommodating, and it is clean and comfortable. Bonus: if you like ice cream, there's a great place a few steps away.

I actually like the sound of trains, so for me it was fun to hear them. If you think train sounds will bother you, bring ear plugs or pick a place to stay that is far away from the tracks (and the beach).

Staff was perfect warm & accommodating in every aspect. Extremely clean. We felt relaxed and nice surroundings. Outdoor lighting everywhere including parking felt safe & secure. Would sure intend to return soon. thank everyone. dfinley/lgrant.

Really nothing. A small annoyance was the plastic window replacement heavily scratched hindering the limited ocean view. However, not really worth mentioning since everything else was perfect. But thought I say something for the next guest.

I liked it a lot. The closeness to the beach is great. I love the balcony and the big rooms. . And I like to touch base with someone when I arrive. I rushed there after work so I could. The woman was amazing and provided great service. I want to stay here again.

The bathroom could use better-quality bath accessories. The office closing early is tough. They could stay till 7 or 8 instead of leave at 6. Its good to know if you are staying here there is a steep hill before you park.

The ocean view room with patio was just what we wanted. The room was clean and spacious with 2 King beds. The beach nearby was lovely and wasn’t overcrowded. Walkable with good eating choices nearby.

Housekeeping was slow. They hadn’t come to our room by 11:00am.

The room had been recently remodeled, and it was huge. The location was within walking distance to the beach, shopping and restaurants. We liked having a balcony to dry our wet bathing suits. The bed was a large king, a wonderful size. Parking was easy and free.

The lower sheet on our bed was too small for the bed, came untucked every night and "roamed around" underneath us. While the rest of the room was kept clean (3 cleaning visits during the week), the bathroom sink was never scrubbed.

A little noisy with the people upstairs walking hard on the floors early in the morning. And the trains woke us up several times during the night. The staff however was absolutely wonderful and it was a Great location.

Nothing that can be done about people walking hard on the floors above us at very early hours. And the trains with the horns going off at midnight or 2:30 or 5:00 in the morning. Office hours could be opened a little earlier. Also an option for water. Had an ice machine but no access to water.

The room was large and super clean. The motel was in a great located, one block from the beach and in short walking distance from lots of restaurants. We had an efficiency unit that was well stocked with cooking utensils if needed. We did not do any cooking. It was a great stay and we would definitely stay there again.

Best location to meet our friends at Moonlight Beach (just some steps away) and to explore North County. The shops and restaurants in Downtown Encinitas are around the corner - too many good options :-)! We discovered our favourite breakfast place on the 101 and had dinner and a bonfire at the beach. Our room was quite large (incl. two nice, big armchairs near the glass front to the balcony) and nicely decorated, everything was sparkling clean, the beds were comfy, the staff very friendly, and we loved the (partial) ocean view. If you like hiking: It is just half an hour to Elfin Forest or Iron Mountain. Legoland is around the corner, and it is also under an hour drive to San Diego Zoo's Safari Park. We had rented a car, but it is easy and fun to explore Encinitas and the neighboring communities on foot or by bicycle. Everything is connected by walkways. Moonlight Beach Motel was perfect for us - we loved it and are looking forward to staying there again!

I love this place I found it 10 years ago and have gone back as often as I can. It’s affordable, proximity to the beach and everything else in Encinitas is perfect! And it’s clean and comfortable. I love its simplicity.

Great location. We walked to the beach and saw dolphins and could hear the ocean waves with the balcony door open. Appreciated the access to beach chairs even though we didn’t use them. Room was quiet aside from train horns. Don’t miss Dave’s rock garden just down the street. Coffee maker in room didn’t seem to work (but could’ve been me) and anyway I liked getting coffee at Lofty which was a 2-minute walk from the room.
