Location is fantastic, walking distance to Little Italy, the promenade, and two different trolley stops (the tourist hop-on hop-off one). Room was clean and spacious. Pool was quite nice and had some balls and toys for my kid to play with. The gym seemed pretty good though we didn't get a chance to work out.

Breakfast was mediocre, and all dishes and cutlery were single-use, which is not so nice. The train tracks are just behind the hotel, so you can hear trains go by all day and night. Also, the AC unit is really loud. We didn't mind the noise because we were after long trans-Atlantic flights, but if I wasn't so tired the noise would have disrupted my sleep for sure. All in all, a bit rundown and pricey for what you get but I guess you pay for location.

Simply the best place I've ever stayed in California, hands down. Friendly, helpful and professional staff. Took care of everything we needed quickly and efficiently with a smile. Room was exquisitely clean and well provisioned with a full kitchen, separate bedroom, and great air conditioning and heating. Blankets were warm and comfortable, bed was great quality, even the couch bed was comfortable. Bathroom was updated, functional and clean. Facilities at the hotel were terrific. Heated pool, with two barbecues available and plenty of seating. Comfortable, homey breakfast area. Gym, business facilities, etc. Easy parking (for a fee which is normal in San Diego), and easy pickup area for Uber, Lyft etc. Great location walking distance to the harbor, Little Italy, and everything you need. Train/tram stations nearby as well. We really just can't say how happy we are with our stay.

Everything was perfect.

The facilities were nice and seemed recently refreshed. We were greeted by a pleasant employee who checked us in for our reservation quickly, and we were each given a bag with snacks and bottled water. Cookies were in a basket at the desk. Our room was very clean and comfortable.. The bed was good for me, a side sleeper, and my partner, who is a back/stomach sleeper. We didn't use the kitchen, but it was stocked well for basic cooking. Bathroom in good repair. Was concerned because I'd seen some reviews that said the location was noisy. I disagree, for the location it's actually pretty quiet but you have to take into account: It is along a major road in the middle of a city.. It is in a flight path but the whole area is, it's right near the airport which was super convenient for us since we didn't have a car (we used Uber when necessary), there is also the lightrail nearby but this wasn't as loud as we both went in expecting. If you are especially noise sensitive, this area of San Diego isn't for you as this will be an issue at most of the area accommodations. The hotel was a 10-minute ride to the airport, 10-15 minute ride to Balboa Park and Ocean Beach. A convenient walk to Little Italy, wonderful restaurants, and local attractions like the USS Midway and some shopping areas. The facilities were clean, breakfast was basic but good, refilled constantly, and staff was quick to clean the tables as they were vacated. All the staff we encountered were friendly.

Our ONLY issue was the heater in the room. Was particularly cold when we visited and the heater was very loud and located in the bedroom. So, as a work-around we ran the heater on high before bed until it was sufficiently warm. We closed the door to the bedroom after turning the heater off. This worked well and we were warm through the night. The bedding helped and the room didn't cool off too much.

Breakfast was good and they have a lot of healthy choices..Location is perfect with public transportation in the corner and at the heart of Barrio Italia and the bay. We liked the room facilities as well as the gym. Very friendly staff and clean place. Spacious room with a good desk area. Our room was facing the street, which we loved.

Super noisy place. If you don't have problems sleeping is ok!. The building and room feel a little bit old, especially the kitchen but we enjoyed our stay and everything was working.

Room was big and comfy, although furniture was a little bit out-dated. The kitchen was well equiped and the bed was super comfortable. Location is really good, 10 minutes from airport and within walking distance of many touristic places. It is just next to Little Italy! I loved the area. Staff was really helpful and gave support with everything I asked. Breakfast was fine with a fair selection of both sweet and salty items. Don't miss the free cookies in the reception, they are just are delicious!

The shower was old and did not work as good as expected. Breakfast is served with single-use cutlery, something not unusual in the area but not very environmentally friendly either.

Reasonably priced accommodation that provides a bedroom with separate lounge and small kitchen which allowed us the option to eat in if we didn’t feel like going out. Situated close to the waterfront. A decent breakfast selection provided to set you up for the day.

We had a suite at the back of the hotel next to the railway tracks so it was very noisy. You do get used to the trains going by but probably not a good option for light sleepers.

Residence Inn convenient for airport, trolley line, Little Italy and the dockside. Our room on the ground floor was quiet, spacious and comfortable with a well-equipped kitchen area and sitting / office area. Breakfast was plentiful and better than expected and there is a good gym which never seemed busy. Staff were very helpful and we would return without hesitation.

As others have mentioned the furnishings are a bit dated but quite acceptable.

The hotel is in a prime location near transit and walkable to many sites. The staff are kind and went above and beyond to make our stay pleasant from accommodating a bay view request for our anniversary to leaving a small gift and bottle of wine for us. The air conditioner ran consistently so it meant we didn't hear any street noise or get woken up from constant starting/stopping. The bed was comfortable and the kitchen had all the amenities we needed. A great value hotel to base your San Diego adventures from. As a side note, the bylaw that restricts trains from sounding their horns in little Italy has been reinstated so no issue with horns at all!

There is a combo of renovated spaces and spaces in need of renovation (room and hotel generally) but it's all been well maintained so while some aspects are dated, it's all clean. The bathroom is functional with decent water pressure but it's not one I would be inclined to take a relaxing bath in. The layout of the bed being near the open sink and mirror might not be great if you and your travel partner don't plan on waking up at similar times as there is no door to block the light.

Breakfast was great. It was well stocked and serviced offering a great selection and amount of food. I liked that there were different meat offerings every day (bacon, or a different sausage) Always kept fresh and hot. The staff there were great. Most front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated allowing us into our room early with no extra charge. It was unexpected and very much appreciated. We also appreciated being able to store our bags after check out. The large screen tv and the channels offered were very good. It was great being able to turn the large tv to face the bed, breakfast bar or couch. Loved it! The room size and set up were great as well.

For the most part the hotel and room were very clean except for the ceiling a/c filter in the bathroom sink area. It was very dirty and looked like it had never been changed. Also, the wifi service was a bit weak and difficult to connect to many times.

Jessica at Check-in was great and made us feel welcome. Breakfast was AMAZING, variety to choose from and tasty. Room was big and spacious and it had everything we needed. Enough drawers to put our stuff away, all the kitchen essentials we needed and clean sheets.

There was a loud sound coming from a locked door between the bedroom and the living room that was hard to sleep through (could've been the AC unit but it was disturbing loud), pillows could have been more comfortable and tv could've had more channel options but other than that it was a great stay.
