We spent an enjoyable 5 nights at the hotel in late May. We received a very warm welcome on our arrival from Cheryl at the front desk who was helpful throughout our stay, as were other front desk staff. Spacious room (#224) with comfortable beds and pillows. Our room was overlooking the Animas River and had a narrow balcony with a chair at each end. Plenty of car park space. Complimentary breakfast available including some hot food options. Ideally located as a short walk from Main Avenue in Downtown Durango for bars and restaurants and a Natural Food shop/beer and wine outlet adjacent, with Walgreens and a large Supermarket over the road

The breakfast was excellent, we first had hot fresh coffee, and the eggs, sausage and cinnamon rolls were the best! Then we took a leisurely walk along the Animas river behind the hotel, it was so beautiful and quiet. We even saw men fishing there! We were close to downtown so we walked along the main road and enjoyed the shopping and various restaurants. It was such a delight to go back to our room afterwards, which was so spacious and so comfortable, we were so grateful with our whole experience at the Holiday Inn express in downtown Durango!

Room was clean, temperature in room was great; good selection of breakfast items. Our room was quiet, had a good view of the river, as requested. Hotel was close to attractions and downtown.

Parking is limited on site, the hotel was booked to capacity- and parking costs an extra charge. The parking garage is narrow, doesn't accommodate extra large vehicles easily (almost everyone had an extra large vehicle). If you come back after 6 PM from sight seeing you may not get a spot; or a spot that your vehicle will fit into. Better pillows needed; too soft. Better chairs in the room are needed. Desk chair reclined way too far back. Additional chair-chase lounge with one side arm not practical for the room.

Breakfast was wonderful! Guadalupe prepared a great tasting breakfast everyday we were there. The front desk was always pleasant and responsive! We requested a shower chair for my husband and the front desk said they couldn't locate one BUT they ordered one for us! What?? Amazing! It was there within 30 minutes! Our dog loved being there and her morning walks along the River Walk everyday was beautiful. Loved our balcony facing the Animas River. It was quite and clean. Housekeeping cleaned our room once, at our request, and did an awesome job! Planning on staying here again with our grandkids next time!

Don't think anything can help the bugs and flying critters at night. Could not really sit on balcony at night because of them. BUT, that is nature! Mornings were great on the balcony.

Check-in was delayed because the hotel was sold out, so turnover was delayed. I knew this had to be due to staffing issues and did not get cross with the desk person. She remained poised and pleasant despite the pressure of a long line of disgruntled customers. We checked in on Wednesday, 9/17, at about 4 pm. I don't know her name, but she deserves to be recognized.

View was amazing. We ate breakfast on the patio every morning. Rooms were very nice and clean.

Parking lot was small which is ok. But people with large trailers kept trying to park in the lot and block others from leaving or coming in. There's a small vacant lot right next to the hotel. I wish the desk person directed them to park there instead of having them park down by the parking garage blocking half of it.

Very nice to have the hotel next to the river and have a room with a balcony and river view. The room and bathroom were a good size and well set up. There were a good selection of breakfast items a nice seating arrangement with big windows or the option of sitting outside. There is also a secure underground parking available.

The river trail is disrupted just past the hotel. It would be nice if the city could have this completed to have a nicer way to get to the traffic signal to get to town, train, etc.

We like the property, but there was some disconnection with the check in. We arrived early around noon. We did let the front desk know that we were there and understood that room wasn’t ready. When we came back at 3:40pm, we were told room still was “kind of dirty” and young lady asked us to come back in 20min. Never checked with housekeeping if room was ready or not. I dont understand how 20 min make a difference and why we could t be checked in.

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel! The location is unbeatable—right on the river and just a short walk to the historic downtown and train station. The rooms were clean, modern, and well-maintained, making it a comfortable place to relax after exploring the area. The free breakfast every morning was a great bonus, with a variety of choices to suit any taste. Highly recommended for anyone looking for convenience, comfort, and a touch of charm!

Great location

Parking fee was not transparent and not included in the price when I booked on Booking.com. This is the second hotel that I've stayed at in the past year that had a surprise daily parking fee. I feel the parking fee is not justified if there is ample parking in their lots... just another sneaky way for adding more charges!!! Please, Booking.com, if possible also include the parking fees in the total cost (I know that most likely you were also in the dark about this added fee. I appreciate that Booking.com tries to give its users all the necessary price info if they are aware of it.
