Staff was awesome. Area so quiet and river was roaring. So peaceful. Close to everything. Room was very clean especially bathroom even behind doors and toilet which is very rare today.
Our bed was squeaky and not the softest for us older folks. Furniture (couch) looked old and worn. But provided the cabin vibe. Since couch looked dirty we only sat on the hard wooden tall chairs. (Very hard to feel comfy) or sit on end of bed. Besides these little tid bits, great place and adventurous place to stay. Just don't expect 3 star accommodations. Only thing I didn't like was walkway down to the room we were in over office. If you are over 60 and have any walking issues don't stay in king room above office. The sidewalk is rock and cement that is not level and a little slick early morning or wet. Then has a drop off before stepping onto wood porch. I can't imagine trying to walk on it in winter. Other rooms didn't have this issue.

Loved the location, and being right at the water’s edge… but out of town a little ways.
Did NOT realize there was no air conditioning until we got there - it may be in the mountains, but it was hot as hell being that it was July. The first night trying to sleep was very uncomfortable. The unit did have a tower fan and another fan that had a water cooling/evaporation element to it, but both running during the night were loud ( and take away from the idea of being in the quiet of nature - or listening to rushing water )

It was beyond my wildest dreams actually. The weather was cold and we were able to light a fireplace in our room. They left firewood and everything we needed to easily get the fire started. There was a balcony with a hammock chair and a small river flowing right outside the balcony. Hummingbirds were buzzing all around the pine tree right beside the balcony. I was walking along the lane that the lodge is on and there was a turkey just casually walking around. The lodge was less than five minutes from Rocky Mountain National Park.

We loved the location as it was close to Town and close to the less busy entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park (Fall River Road). It was great to be on the river. The room was super cozy and comfortable. Loved the welcome we got from the check-in and value for the price. Appreciated all the coat racks and amenities on the property even if we didn’t get to use them in the off season. Even convinced relatives in town to come book a room here!
The room was a little warm despite turning the heat off. Kept the door open at times to cool it down. The floors were a bit creaky so you could get some noise or make some for neighbors. The bathroom was also a little dated.

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, Aspen the lodge dog was extra great! The property is beautiful and has great amenities: playground, multiple lounging options next to the river, hot tub and eating/grilling areas. Even though the property is next to the road, you don't realize it once you're there and don't hear the road which was very nice! Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be back. Bonus: The water pressure in the ponderosa room shower was fantastic!

Basic, but enjoyable enough for us. Very clean, large comfortable room with fridge, coffeemaker, microwave. Available Teas, coffee, apple cider mix with sweeteners & creamers. Comfortable easy boy chair to relax. Homemade cookies in office daily. Office workers very nice & helpful. Didn't get to use, but hot tub & nice sitting area by creek. Also had fan (room was a bit warm) Overall we were very happy with our choice & would book again.
Not really a complaint @ ponderosa, but our GPS brought us to a dead end road of next door hotel...we didn't know to continue on into ponderosa rear entrance...would have been good to have a sign for hotel visable

We loved everything about the Ponderosa Lodge! The location so close to Rocky Mountain national park was perfect. The hosts Darrel (sp) and Kate were warm and wonderful. The room was beyond cozy and comfortable with a balcony, plenty of full size pillows, a REAL coffee maker and amenities. Loved it! Oh, and great water pressure! 😄
Nothing really. The only slight inconvenience may have been limited parking, but I realize in the mountain side location a full size lot would be out of the question, and totally not appropriate for the setting.

We loved the quiet location right next to a little river (and the lovely sound of rushing water) and that we were somewhat removed from the construction and busyness of Estes Park. Being near to one of the RMNP entrances was handy. The room was old-fashioned in a cozy, welcoming way. The staff-person we interacted with was friendly and helpful. The shower was hot and strong.
This is only a minor thing, but it would be nice if there were at least a few paper plates and plastic-ware for guests to use. We heated up leftovers in the microwave, then realized we would need to be creative in how we actually ate them. :D

staff was friendly and very welcoming. we had no issues with late check in, and i loved that they have a camera showing you the wildlife visitors haha. room and bathroom was spacious and clean. they were very thoughtful to have made a guidebook with recommendations (food, sightseeing etc).
they should include options for 2x single beds rather than only having queen beds. or have king bed options. the room was a little hot when we stayed (june 2024), and we had to rely on the fan - however, the fan light couldnt be turned off and it was a really bright green - ended up having to wear an eye mask to sleep...

The Ponderosa was wonderful for my trip to RMNP. It's a few minutes from the Falls River entrance, though this is under construction and not the primary entrance, and maybe 10 minutes from the Beaver Meadows entrance. It is close to town and along the river which was wonderful. I was traveling alone and felt very safe here throughout my stay which is always an important factor. Bonus- they have smart TVs to stream your favorite shows when you get back at night.
If you need anything from the office, be sure to stop by during office hours, which end at 5pm. This can be a tad inconvenient, but likely the small group and limited hours keeps costs down. It will be more like a cabin, air bnb than a hotel.
