Relaxing, comfortable Room. Would definitely do it again with the junior bungalow.

Did not like the lack of privacy in the bathroom. curtains did not cover the windows securely. could be seen naked while showering.

It is a very "nostalgic" property - opened in 1962, it is the oldest resort on Maui. Authentic Hawaiian music played throughout the resort. Property is well maintained and beautiful. Staff are friendly and helpful. The location in Ka'anapali is perfect!

I only stayed in one room so I can't speak for the entire hotel - however, the room showed signs of age and there is a pocket door into the shower/toilet that really should be modernized. The hardware on the door no longer closes the door tightly and the metal "handle" protrudes and can cause injury if you bump it accidentally.

We were seeking a retreat away from the cold, resorts, and found a true little paradise. While not a boutique hotel, the warm, personalized service made us feel right at home. The essence of Maui is alive here, reflected in the peaceful atmosphere and the genuine super kindness of the staff. A perfect spot to experience the island’s true spirit. Although we faced an unexpected situation, the staff handled it with warmth, professionalism, and full support. A special thank you to Nicholas Kuhns, the General Manager, for his exceptional leadership. His high level of professionalism ensured everything ran smoothly, meeting luxury standards, while staying true to the hotel’s spirit and promise. The personalized service and genuine kindness of the team made us feel right at home. We are truly grateful for Nicholas and his team. A perfect place to experience the true essence of Maui. Without a doubt, I would return to this place to enjoy the stunning ocean views, the refreshing breakfast, the ample parking, and the activities that create the perfect balance between luxury and the warm, authentic spirit of Hawaii.

This property is absolutely beautiful. The bungalows are the way to go for sure. We spent $18 on a toaster and were able to make our own bagels for breakfast. Kept our refrigerator stocked with water and our own alcohol. I feel like this is such a little gem. Haven’t been to this resort in summer but beginning of November and middle of April was perfect. It doesn’t feel as crowded or busy as the other side of black rock where whalers village is. It’s literal perfection.

I am not impressed with their restaurant. We had one meal there out of convenance. It’s not terrible but so many better options close by.

Yoga, cultural centre and beach access made it unforgettable. All rooms have sea view. Gym is well equipped and empty most of the time.

Paid parking? Seriously? Why out of 2 pools one is relatively clean and the second one is always full of debris We were not offered welcome drink nor lei. Or is it only in the movies? “Branches” are not marked on the map, not possible to find the location for live music. The front desk sending in the wrong direction wasted a lot of time. The only person who knows what is where is an older lady who works in the morning. Asking anyone else about directions was only resulting in being sent to wrong places and wasting time.

Our stay at the Royal Lahaina Resort and Bungalows was everything we hoped for in a Hawaiian vacation—and then some! From the moment we arrived, check-in was smooth and welcoming. The staff were friendly and warm—we exchanged plenty of cheerful "Alohas" that set the tone for a relaxing stay. We booked one of the bungalows, and while it was pricier than a standard room, it was absolutely worth the experience. The bungalow was even more beautiful in person than in the pictures. Just steps from the beach (literally a 30-second walk!), it offered a sense of privacy, comfort, and that laid-back island charm you hope for in Maui. One of our favorite features was the use of wristlets instead of traditional key cards—super convenient and one less thing to keep track of. We loved being able to simply slip it on and forget about it. The beach in front of the resort was tranquil, expansive, and never felt crowded. We really appreciated that peaceful vibe. Just one beach away is the bustling scene at Black Rock, where the crowds gather for snorkeling and excursions. That made our location feel even more ideal—close enough to walk (only about a 10-minute beach stroll) to the top restaurants and attractions in Kaanapali, but tucked away enough to truly relax in a quieter, more serene setting. That said, the one downside for us was the surprise parking fee. We didn’t realize there was a daily charge for parking, and it was $40/day for self-parking or $45/day with valet. I’m sure it’s listed somewhere, and I know many resorts charge for parking, but it still felt a bit steep. After a moment of sticker shock, we gathered our composure, smiled, and moved on. It definitely didn’t ruin the experience. After settling in, we spent our first afternoon with drinks in hand, toes in the sand, enjoying the perfect weather—low humidity, a gentle breeze, and not a single pesky bug in sight.

It is one of the older resorts, but have updated nicely- staff was super friendly. Note they are still making updates. But we wrrr fine it wasn’t noisy.

I would not go the all inclusive breakfast. We opted out and we were glad. Every morning when we came down there was a line of people-(tourists). However the food in the buffet is not worth the price. Better to eat off their menu, which was good, at your leisure and try some other breakfasts at some other resorts. Castaways, Sheraton and enjoy some different menus.

The location was excellent, with access to the beach. The rooms were spacious.

They don’t tell you in advance at breakfast that there are two options: buffet or ordering directly from a waiter. So when we took food from the buffet, they wanted to charge us \$10 for a few pieces of pineapple. In order to avoid being charged, we had to continue with the buffet, even though we wanted to order from the waitress. We booked a sea view room, but the room we received had only a partial sea view. Since we were on a high floor, the view was still nice, but considering we paid extra for a sea view, it feels like a bit of a scam to provide only a partial view without making that clear.

This was our first time visiting Hawaii and we had a wonderful time! We only had a couple of days to spend at this wonderful resort and we are so happy we chose it! We walked along the boardwalk in the mornings and said what a good and lucky choice we had made in selecting the Royal Lahaina. We remarked on how the resort felt calm and how well it blended with the nature around it. The food was really great and we never regretted paying a little extra for each of the meals we shared. The staff was friendly and we really appreciated the live music playing both by the pool and in the beautiful grotto area. Thank you for such a great experience!

Amazing property. Location great. Room amazing Got the ocean front bungalow room. Front desk staff great Valet staff amazing Spa staff amazing Would rate a perfect 10 If not for a few things

-Towels guys were rude, unprofessional -Bartender friendly but the most expensive drinks happen to also be the worst drinks I’ve had on the trip -Bug infestation in the room -There was an unchecked obnoxious family staying there screaming racist remarks and bragging how they all pissed in the dirty pool which we didn’t go into.
